    Off season....

Damn, Osgood looks good in a cheerleader outfit. Nice legs! Wait, what did I just say? Oh s**t!!! Anyways, I don't understand how this page has gotten to be 4 pages already. Again, if Hasek still feels he can play and wants to play, Wings mgmt will probably bring him back, and he should be welcomed as he's managed to stay healthy this year and still show he's got game. If not, Osgood's still around which is fine, and bring up Howard and Liv. Enough of this "They aren't ready" bullarki. You give the full time NHL duty, they'll get ready. The Wings don't need another 'stopgap' in goalie before Howard or Liv take the full time reigns in a few years.

Samuelsson - Time to give the guy some kudos

Nobody thinks he is the second coming of Gordie Howe, but the guy gets ridiculed more times in here than the amount of technical fouls Rasheed Wallace has piled up in his career or the amount of kids Michael Jackson has had over to Never Never Land. I think one thread giving him credit or being positive doesn't hurt anybody.

    Sammy on D if Neccessary?

Negative. Playing the point on the power play only.

    Off season....

Belfour? Sorry, but I got to buy a vowel if the Wings want him, a lot of vowels... For once, I want the Wings to not play musical goaltenders. If Hasek wants to/is able to come back next season, I'd welcome him back as long as he keeps in shape, which he has proven to this year, because his play hasn't dropped off much. If not, Osgood and Howard/Liv. No more bringing in new goalies.

Goaile mistakes leading to game 5 loses

Tying not to take away from Nabakov's game in the overall sense, he's a starting goalie in the NHL for a reason, so I'm not going to even come close to saying he's a bad goalie and such, and I'm not trying to imply that the Sharks aren't a bad team by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm not trying to overhype the Wings and Hasek with this insight, so here goes... We've seen Hasek make a few brainfarts this series, namely the game 2 goof to Thornton for a 2-0 and the softie to Goc yesterday in game 5. That being said though, in both games, both the Red Wings and Hasek both came up BIG after those errors. If it was Legace still in net like last year in the Edmonton series, it might have unraveled. As long as the Sharks didn't get a good break or a bounce in their direction though or beat Hasek with a legit/clean goal, he's not going to have many more brainfarts to cost the Wings a game. He isn't winning any games by himself by any stretch of the imagination, but he isn't costing the Wings any games either. Both him and the Wings are showing their experience and calm patience when things might not immediately go correct from the get-go. We've yet to see that from the Sharks. Again, not taking away anything from Nabakov or the Sharks team, they are still capable of taking this and are a damn good team despite being on the ropes. They haven't proven (yet) to overcome a huge error or two by etiher Nabakov or the team, that might not necessarily cost them a game completely but has a huge impact in a game. Maybe being one of the younger teams in the league plays a part in this, but they have enough seasoned veterans in Thornton, Grier, Brown, Rivet, etc. that knows what it takes to overcome these errors. For the Wings case, hopefully their good fortunes continue and the Sharks cannot quite still overcome any big mistakes. That being said though, this series is far from done despite being in the Wings favor, and expect Nabakov to try to have a huge game tomorrow night.

Broodooour's overblownness explodes right in his face

He certainly wasn't good this series, but this series doesn't take squat away from the 3 Cups he's won, multiple International appearances and so forth. Hate to break it to some of you guys who have weird dreams all night about hating Brodeur.

    2-2-1-1-1, 2-3-2, or 3-3-1 series

Any one series type have a significant advantage over the other? Are you content with how 2-2-1-1-2 works out with a best of 7 series? I'd be against 2-3-2, I think it puts a lot of the advantage to the road team in a best-of-7 series, but I'm pretty sure this is done consistently in baseball in the NL/AL Championships and the World Series. I think 3-3-1 might be worth a shot at some point in time, even though it is kind of extreme. It gives the home team a chance to really put a series away early, etc. Game 7 would be for the home team obviously.

Is this someone's idea of a joke?

To quote Butters...."SON OF A BISCUIT!" You're the man Grypho, I do like this version of the Sharks team a good bit.

    kyle quincey

I don't think Quincey is going anywhere soon in the Wings organization. Full time next year, I think that all depends on if Chelios hangs them up and if Markov re-signs with the Wings. There is a decent chance, but late in the game he showed he still is young and has a lot of developing to do. He got absolutely schooled on the PK playing the puck instead of the man on Pavelski's (?, spelling ?) one-on-one, allowing a clear path to Hasek. That mistake and a few others being said though, he's been very impressive more often than not, given his inexperience since being called up late in the Calgary series. Wings will need him to stay cool and collected more than ever with Schneider now out for a good while.

I dunno, he weighs around 210 (I think), that doesn't seem so skinny.

  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs2007...&id=2860496 Neat little column from Mr. Burnside about recent past playoff goofs from both teams, mindsets going into game 5, both teams wiping off the 'momentum' factor like a case of bad fleas, etc.
