What does Mikael Samuelsson bring to the table?

I'm not the best joke-teller in these parts.

If you stayed up -- say aye

Aye aye and I think I got everybody beat today. Couldn't get to bed until about 1:00am CT, but still woke up like I normally do during the week. Only about 3 1/2 hours of sleep... Woke up at 4:30am for breakfast and reading the latest news 5:45am workout at the gym Left for work around 7:00am Worked until about 5:00pm ish through my lunch hour. So clearly I got the smallest amount of sleep but was still the most productive, so I win.

    bench bert article today

Give me a break (in reference to the article blurb, not meaning to chew anybody out in here). Nobody should realistically expect Bertuzzi to be playing once again like his Vancouver days esp. when he was with Naslund and Morrison given sitting out most of the season. Yes he had a bad game last night. He brings some really good size to the Wings and Babcock has pretty much said it straight that Bertuzzi doesn't have to be a superstar, just involved and make some kind of contribution. He could be playing a bit better but he's far from stinking up the joint. I'm not trying to make Bertuzzi out to be some kind of super bad ass, but It is beyond me why anybody would consider scratching him when I've really heard no indication that his back (or recent concussion) is acting up.

Samuelsson brings Swedish meatballs, a long/messy hairdue, and endless bashing opportunities on LetsGoWings.com.

    Again With The Trap...

No it wasn't. Holland stated more or less (saw in a recent Freep/Detroit News Article) that Babcock's job was more than secure over the next few years, and Babcock doesn't want to go anywhere. And way to be classy e_mcgrath.

  7. All righty, first off I'm going to be the glass half-empty/potential reality view. I'm not going to be idiotic and say there's no concern or no worries on my end. The Wings are in a tight spot and I won't be surprised if they get eliminated by the Sharks. We know why they are good and nobody should act surprised if San Jose advances. That being said though, I still like the Wings chances and have a lot of optimism, guarded that it may be. I'd still be hopeful if they fall down in a 3-1 hole. Why so? The ice just tilted completely for the Sharks in the latter half of game 3. Don't deny that. It's not like they have completely steamrolled the Wings in games 1 and 3 though. They aren't getting mauled or thrown out the building. They just have to work a little harder and dig a little deeper (not denying the current lack of effort though). Game 5 is at home, and the Wings have the final 2 of 3 at home if it comes to that. I know the Sharks are a good road team and the Wings lack of game 5 success in recent years (not including Calgary series this year). I'm going into game 5 over the weekend like it's a brand new series, 0-0 with a clean slate and with confidence and optimism, regardless of what happens in game 4. I will not make any guarantees for wins, but I'm still confident. If the Wings pull out game 4 though, makes the situation all the better. A bounce here/a bounce there is all that could be needed to change a game/series for the Wings. This team is different that the previous "soft" playoff teams. Again, they aren't getting manhandled or destroyed out there, they have proven they can throw the body around when it is needed. It's a better and tougher Sharks team, but the Wings just have to dig a little bit deeper as stated. Come join me in a weird kumbayah song.....or something *shrugs* *Makes music and creates raindance*

Hasek voted 4th Best NHL goaltender ever

    No, he isn't.

    Paralyzed Snow Angel of Defeat

Hasek isn't the reason the Wings lost tonight. Did a damn good job when the game just completely tilted midway through the 2nd and he did well to not let more by him in the 2nd/3rd. Hasek is fine.

    Can We Talk About Bertuzzi?

Definitely not a good game for Bertuzzi yesterday. He doesn't look 100% comfortable from his back injury, but the Wings still need his prescence. He's not the same player (yet) he was in the Vancouver days, and he might not ever be again. Nobody can know. That being said though, there's a spot for him on this team either on the 1st/2nd line and I'd like to see him as a Wing next year.

Hasek voted 4th Best NHL goaltender ever

All righty, let me rephrase a bit since my two posts there came by pretty harsh. I still stand by that these rankings don't mean much in the grand scheme of things and I'll leave it at that... Debate away on who should/shouldn't be in the rankings all you want... but... Don't let somebody else's posts or perceived "bashes" (when in actuality they probably aren't) get you all worked up due to rankings that you, I, or Grandma Snookie can draw up. These rankings don't make any of the players any better/worse than they really are.

Hasek voted 4th Best NHL goaltender ever

Hell I'm not stopping anybody from talking about this stuff, but there's absolutely no point to get all up in arms in a thread like this if your guy is ranked lower than you think, because in the grand scheme of things these rankings still mean NOTHING.

Surprise! Nashville player ejected at Worlds.

Absolutely pathetic elbow. No excuse, hopefully he learns from this. And heaven help any Predators fans or anybody else who is trying to justify his hit. That's not being tough. That's not hockey. That's just a cheap shot.

Hasek voted 4th Best NHL goaltender ever

Everybody needs to get over themselves with these rankings personally whether you are pro-Ozzie or pro-Hasek or anti-Osgood or whatever else. Osgood is #12. Big deal. Hasek is #4. Whoopee. All of these players have accomplished a lot and are great in their own right and their own careers, these ranking, whether you are 1st or 50th, doesn't change that. These rankings don't mean ANYTHING when push comes to shove. Can we please just leave it at that?

What are you speaking of there you infidel? Come to think of it, I make a pretty s**tty excuse for the Devil there.

SI.com's Allan Muir - Wings deserved to win game 2

Agreed, the all or nothing thing is a bit silly. This isn't like Anakin Skywalker saying you are with me or you are my enemy, and this definitely isn't Bush's war speech against terrorism for pete's sake saying you are with us or against us. (please let's not turn this into a political thread ) You can completely be supporting somebody but pointing out their flaws to try to make them better. Happens at my job all the time where my boss who I directly report to is the owner for the company I work for. He'll tell me every now and then what I need to improve on, and I give him suggestions every now and then as well in the same nature if he could've done better on something. At least from my end, I enjoy that kind of support/criticism and am glad to have somebody as a boss/owner who will accept some honest criticism and doesn't act all high and mighty all the time.

    Datsyuk

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and say that if Datsyuk wasn't having a good playoffs so far, people would be calling for both Datsyuk's and Holland's head right now. There are very, very few people I'd personally sign to deals woth more than 5 years. Not Datsyuk, not even Sidney Crosby. That's just too much of a time span I think. Whether this deal works out for all parties involved will remain to be seen given the long length, but so far, so good. It has a looooong way to go though. However, regardless of how Datsyuk has done so far during the playoffs, I wasn't completely against getting some kind of deal done before the playoffs, just wish it was a bit shorter contract length. I think getting it done before playoffs might be a good factor in helping Datsyuk relax a little bit more, knowing that he'll be a Red Wing for a few more years, like he wanted to be (or so I am assuming).

    stupid fans

That's a little bit of a strong opinion and I don't see it as any logical reason, but if there's some truth to that, I share your disappointment. With that being said though, this is something people seriously need to let go trying to figure out why it is justified or wrong. Jagr is going to get booed. Pronger got booed a good bit in Vancouver when he had the puck for long periods of time. Fedorov the same as well in Detroit. It happens, and it doesn't happen to just Fedorov. It is not going away. Everybody, get over it.

    Can Robert Lang Come Around?

I don't care what numbers or stats or thrown out in terms of Robert Lang's past play or play this season. The bottom line is, he hasn't done a whole lot to warrant more playing time, or Babcock would have played him more in game 2 in the waning/tense moments. Lang has had more than enough chances to step his game up recently, and has not done so all that often. I don't care if Lang looking sluggish has always been like he has played in the past. He needs to produce and show all of us, from the fans to the players to the coaches, a little bit more. If he does, he gets more playing time. If he doesn't, it's minimal shifts like it was in the 3rd period of last game.
