Why are we wasting our time worrying about what Nashville fans do for thr 103242th time? Who gives a flying f**k if they yell YOU SUCK or how they act? And what is so bad or offensive about it? They could definitely say a lot worse. Let them cheer or act how they want to act, they aren't doing anything just grossly offending. It's not good, it's not bad, it's just what they do to cheer, get crowd involvement, and so forth. Let them go about their business gracefully...............

Sammy actually played a pretty good game tonight. However, the kids have earned their chances. Samuelsson is a streaky player for better/worse, hopefully he can go on a good trend to end the regular season and carry that momentum, but if it were up to me, at this point in time, he'd be sitting (if everybody was healthy).

Door Number 5 or Calgary in First Round of Playoffs
SouthernWingsFan replied to livediehockey80's topic in General
It really doesn't matter to me in the grand scheme of things. Of course I'd like to see the WIngs wrap up the division and get home ice advantage throughout, but we got to focus on the bigger picture here, winning it all. And this year to win it all, at least in the Western Conference, there's very little parity between any of the eight seeds IMO. So seeding is almost irrelevant IMO in the grand scheme of things. -
Let it go......

You're like the only 1 out of 1000 members constantly ripping on the guy. You aren't going to change anybody's opinions of him.
-
Include Toronto in the mix with a guy who's last name starts with a T... Nah, Draper having a no-trade clause and wanting to remain in Detroit, and management (I'm assuming) happy wtih him as a Wing, doesn't mean much to keep some idiots from suggesting to trade him.

Osgood vs. Nashville, Hasek vs. Dallas
SouthernWingsFan replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
Yeah, he sure reeked behind winning his last game at Nashville, beating Nashville in the shootout (please let's not bring up his 3rd period goal, I GET THAT HE SHOULD'VE STOPPED IT) at Detroit recently, and ripping saves out of his rear end at Nashville prior to that in an OT loss...... -
Osgood vs. Nashville, Hasek vs. Dallas
SouthernWingsFan replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
Hasek's the starter for the playoffs, no questions really need to be asked about that, so.... Rotation for these next two games makes sense. A good bit of Osgood's limited action this year has been against Nashville and he's stepped up to the plate, so why not again. Biggest game of the season to this point (if you are worried about winning the division), why the hell not? Besides the plan has always been, from what I have read, that Hasek doesn't play one of back-to-back games. Might as well just keep him in Detroit for Thursday's game for rest, then he goes full steam against the Stars. As for the final four games, my guess is Hasek plays 3 of the 4. -
Please stop posting. When both are healthy, Hasek is better than Osgood. Plain and simple. Again, please stop posting bad ideas.

Um, no.

I am not worried about who the opponent is going to be in the first round. The Western Conference race is as wide open as it has been for a while from seed #1 to seed #8, and we all know that the lower seeds ruled last postseason, so preferring Team A over Team B just doesn't make much sense to me right now, given how good all eight teams will probably be to start the playoffs off.

Neat little read, that changes my perception of Hasek some, although he still rubs me the wrong way to an extent. If there's one thing I have always liked about him though in spite of the goalie drama circus a few seasons ago was that he rarely seems to lose any intensity at his job. Keeping a high energy level from start to finish mentally is something I strive to do when I am running/jogging or doing a workout.

Quoted for TRUTH.

1. Hasek when he wanders his crease when unnecessary (this doesn't mean I think he's an awful goalie Hasek supporters, so........) 2. Lang when he probably could out an extra gear to his skating. 3. Samuelsson taking a long shot when he could probably be more patient. 4. Lilja when he gets beat to a puck.

I guess he's trying to interpret/assume that if Flipper gets sent down, there's no chance of claiming him off waivers, as opposed to Rex, or they can't send Rex down anymore for some reason. In ny case, the Wings won a big game last night, you have no logical reason whatsoever to be yelling at people for the 100th time because of a loss or panic attack posts, so save the atittude.

My overall tance on fighting... It's definitely needed in the NHL, but I don't want games to constantly get out of control with 15 fights a game. I hate how referees usually break them up way too early. I like your regular 1-on-1 fights every now and then. And finally, I know it's in the heat of the moment where your body and mind are thinking at 100 MPH so you probably don't have time to gather your thoughts, but to the future ones who get in fights on the ice, if you lose the helmets and glove then go at it, a huge to you for going about the fight the right and fair way.

Not trying to sound like a smart-ass to you or maybe I'm being naive on this scenario, but aren't you laying out what the FSN network pretty much does (i.e. FSN Detroit, Ohio, South, Southwest, Bay Area, etc.)

Anyways, only one goal scored, but it was the kind of goal that you'll probably need to put in the net more often than not in the playoffs. This was as good a team game as I've seen from the Wings, probably since their comeback win in Dallas in February, despite the lack of offense. Good focus, kept the brainfarts on defense very limited, had some respectable chances against a very good defense and goalie, and while they didn't overwhelm the Ducks physically (to be expected obviously), they were far from being manhandled and weren't afraid to play a physical, tough gaame of their own. Other than the beginning of the 3rd period, I'd say they played as close to a complete 60-minute game as one could expect.

What do we think about Bertuzzi replacing Holmstrom on the ZDH line?
SouthernWingsFan replied to sean's topic in General
I should start watching hockey? Let's see, the puck has to be the first thing that crosses the blue line or it's offsides. You score goals in hockey, not runs. Icing is where the opposing team shoots the puck behind the red line to relieve pressure and it crosses the goal line behind the net. A normal hockey line-up consists of 12 forwards and 6 defensemen. Yep, I know nothing about the sport. I suggest you dislodge the pole jammed in your behind and lighten up a bit. -
My apologies for rehashing anything but here's my 0.02... Assumning everybody is healthy and we are talking right now, Cleary is in no matter what. Even if he's on a cold streak, I think it's safe that most here agree that while not the biggest, he battles/skates hard in the trenches and all that stuff. We need his work ethic in the playoffs. Hopefully he can start scoring again like he did in December. Then the order would be Rex Flipper Sammy Rex has been a helluva finisher lately and as long as he keeps working hard and not fall off the face of the earth, he'll get some scoring chances We all know of Samuelsson's annoyances of long unscreen bombs that rarely go in. If he somehow catches a hot streak though by the, give him a nod. Look, I'd prefer to see the kids over Sammy as they've performed great under pressure and more PT lately. I'm trying to give Samuelsson some benefit of the doubt though, even if it's a small percentage.

Just his embelishment in Calgary leading to the goal and telling him to tone it down in all likelihood. Nothing more, nothing less. And it should remain that way in both media outlets and in this forum.

What do we think about Bertuzzi replacing Holmstrom on the ZDH line?
SouthernWingsFan replied to sean's topic in General
Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom was arguablably the best line in the NHL in December/January. Assuming Zetterberg gets back for a few regular season games before the playoffs (and I am fairly optimistic that will happen, but that's just an assumption obviously), I'd try to reunite that line. If there's time for them to gel again (or if they stink it up together somehow), replace Holmstrom with Bertuzzi. Holmstrom's versatile enough, to play most even-strength roles at wing IMO, so he could play anywhere on a scoring/checking line -
As homerish as some of the Nashville posters are in here with their team, I'll take their word to an extent about them being a bit more familar with Tootoo's game. As much as we might dislike sports media sometimes, what they say on a player has a big influence on our perceptions as well, whether they are right/wrong, fair/unfair. Tootoo's hustle and hard-skating style? I absolutely dig it. In my perception though, there's a fine line between being aggressive (in a controlled manner) and just reckless. Tootoo seems to have crossed the line a few times unfortunately.
