Question: Why do Wings fans hate the Canucks?
SouthernWingsFan replied to KeslerFan's topic in General
Not really sure where this is coming from, if it is just from a single thread on here or another forum or what not. Every sports base has their a'holes, take it for what it's worth. I have zero issues with the Canucks. -
And to add on to what he says, the site administrator here strongly, strongly frowns on Wings fans doing the same on other sites, and if somebody here does that on another site, they'll be getting the shaft as well. Good to meet ya Mike.

Selfishly, Nashville. I want more sleep. Even in the central time zone, these late starts are killing me already. Add to that the New Orleans Hornets locally down here presently are playing against the Los Angeles Lakers, that's two playoff matchups already that I'm watching against far Western teams. And, add to that the local games in Phoenix for the Wings series didn't start until 8:30 local time, the same with the games so far in New Orleans not starting until 8:30 local time, and it's just flat out ridiculous. I'll be up late tonight watching their game (along with the Vancouver-Chicago game) so it'll be another night of little sleep. There is absolutely no reason for a game to start later than 7:30 local time. Blame the TV tycoons. Besides that, it doesn't matter to me. Both teams have had dominating and absolutely ugly performances in the first round, wildly inconsistent. The Wings are beatable obviously but I'm not scared of either team, if the Wings are on their game and can stay healthy, I like their chances regardless of the opponent.

Cool story!

Nobody scares me. The Wings are very beatable obviously, just like any other team in the league, but if we see the team of this first round playoff series and are able to stay fairly healthy, I like their chances against pretty much anybody. They get injured or play inconsistent defensively like much of the second half of the season, I don't like the Wings chances then. Pretty simple in theory.

He's had a frustrating season, no doubt about it. I was curiously interested and happy the Wings signed him but I certainly understood either people's frustrations with him this season or reasons why the Wings shouldn't have signed him. He could have easily thrown a temper tantrum or whatever for not being on the regular roster these first few games, but didn't (I am assuming) and he stepped in and played a fantastic game in limited minutes, helping in a part of a goal, and drawing a penalty leading to a PP goal. Who knows if, or when might be a better word, he's the odd man out when Zetterberg and Franzen get back but he looks to not be messing around or being lazy and just shows how ridiculous the Wings depth can be.

I'm really ticked off. I just learned that there is no Easter Bunny.

Selfishly, I want it to be a central time zone team because keeping up this staying up late bit is just ridiculous, even me living an hour earlier in the central time zone (also factor in that I'm starting to follow the Hornets down here with a little more interest now as they are currently in a playoff series with the Los Angeles Lakers with late night games, and, yeah...). But outside that which is ultimately of little importance, honestly it doesn't matter too much to me. I think San Jose stands out more above the other teams, but pretty much every team the Wings have the possibility of facing next round has had Jekyl and Hyde type performances, ridiculously inconsistent. One night they are dominant, the next night they are surrendering and absurd amount of goals. If the Wings play like they do against Phoenix and they can stay healthy, I like their chances. If they go back to defensive inconsistencies late in the regular season, I don't like their chances so much, regardless of who they play.

Positive Signs for The Wings in These Playoffs
SouthernWingsFan replied to Mabuhay Red Wings's topic in General
Depth scoring. Relatively few injuries. Those two keep up they have a good shot at making a deep run. The second round will definitely be harder than the first but right now pretty much any team the Wings have a shot at facing (anybody but Vancouver it looks like) is having a Jekyl and Hyde type playoffs so far. Inconsistent in terms of they are dominating one night and just leaking goals the next game. -
Not sure how or why Helm needs to be brought up regarding this, or why there even needs to be any comparisons to anybody else regarding this. Not sure where you are really going with this one. I saw him score a pretty slick goal in the first playoff game which gave the Wings much needed insurance/breathing room. And given such a small sample size of 4 playoff games that the Wings have fortunately won all of them, you could pretty much substitute any player for Hudler right now in terms of production or things you'd see on the stat sheet. Hard to rack up a bajillion points in just 4 games, and the team has had contributions from pretty much everybody this past series. Depth.

If a tree falls in the forest and you aren't around to hear it, it still makes a sound. Sorry to kill the mood for that.

Congratulations to the Phoenix Coyotes

I don't like Jovanovski, I don't like Doan all that much, but some posts in here need a reality check. First with some of the manly or there's no crying b.s. that I've seen off/on the past few days. Get off the "Oh I'm so tough" or "Men can't cry" crap mentality. People want to win. They want to excel at their jobs. When they put a maximum effort into it and still come up short and it is ultimately the end, you are going to be frustrated and sad that it is all over. I've seen high school players cry knowing their season or playing careers are over, all the way up to the professional athlete, like we saw with Doan the final game. The whole crying or showing emotion is not manly stance is stupid and a bunch of bulls**t. Again I don't like Doan all that much, I think he plays recklessly for his own good at times, but there is no doubt how much he cared about trying to do well, his job, and his team and the Phoenix area. Showing emotion when it is all done, either if you are happy or sad, is not a sign of weakness. Basically just don't be a d**k about things when it isn't deserved. Am I glad the Wings swept the Coyotes? Without question. Am I glad they showed a no mercy approach or whatever on the ice? Of course. Overall was the Phoenix team a bunch of jerks or their fans senseless or whatever? Didn't look like it to me. So, don't be d**ks back to them then. You can have fun in playoff matchups and rivalries and the like without being a dips**t. Celebrate quietly or with sportsmanship, you get the idea. -

Don't like Jovanovski at all, and while I think Doan can play incredibly reckless at times, but you can't ignore how the team at least the past 2 seasons busts their rear ends off in the general sense. I don't know the ins/outs of how bad the situation might be with their franchise there, but I got zero issues with them staying in the Phoenix area if they can work it out. I went the area for the first time ever right at the beginning of January last year to go to the Fiesta Bowl but by luck of the draw the Wings were playing at the Coyotes just a few days before the bowl game, so I saw a Wings-'Yotes game as well. Was fun times there, I like the area. -
Nope. The person below me understood the telephone conversation here, as well as the conversation before the telephone rang.
