Thoughts on Bertuzzi after first game as a Wing?
SouthernWingsFan replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
Nothing too magnificent from him, nothing too awful from him either. He was just "one of the guys" out there like Babcock wanted to be. He'll be fine if his back remains healthy. -
This has been discussed AD NASEUM IN HERE. Corporations have tickets that some use. A lot of people, I'm assuming, have families to raise and kids to bring the school next day and their residence is aways away from the arena, hence leaving early. It's as simple as that and I'm done with getting all irked up and frustrated about it because it isn't going to change.
-
The way he left was questionable. Whether he was right/wrong in leaving that's your judgment call. The booing isn't going away anytime soon though for better/worse. I'm over it, some people do it for s**ts and giggles, some people aren't over Fedorov leaving. I'm done making a fuss over the whole deal because me commenting on it one way or the other isn't going to make it go away.

Maybe to piss you off as well? It's not like Lang intentionally did it to purposefully let a goal in. If the shot went wide off his stick you all wouldn't be throwing a hissy fit and this would be a non-issue. Seriously, let it go, s**t happens.

Preds lead Flames 2-1 in the early part of 3rd
SouthernWingsFan replied to Zeta Power 40's topic in General
Meh, can't worry about what Nashville does. Yeah I'd like the division but I want everybody healthy and the Red Wings worrying about themselves these next few games and get into a good groove for the playoffs, divsiion or no division. -
If I got a dollar for every time Sammy took a shot, that'd be a damn good investment! Seriously, I'm not too worried about him. Assuming everybody comes back healthy his ice time will be reduced. It's frustrating sometimes, but a blind squirrel finds the back of the net every now and then, hopefully he'll peak when the playoffs start and a puck/two goes in.

:caution: Deflections happen son, I'm sure he did it on purpose just to piss you off.

Tell that to Maple Leaf fans. They've been waiting forever. They've lost their hair waiting, or it's gone grey, and their skin is now all old and wrinkley through waiting and older age.

I don't care who the Wings play in the first round, it's pick your poison. If it's Calgary, it's the West coast annoyances. If it's Colorado, it's getting an extremely hot team who are already playoff-ready and have gotten experience fighting tooth and nail to get into the playoffs. If it's Minnesota, they have good defense. And so on, and so forth. No matchup is going to be a pretty one, for any team.

Ok people, let's put down our envelope openers, step away from our computers (without the envelope openers) and realize how ridiculous this thread is and how we sound. Babcock is the head coach and can call out anybody he chooses, good/bad. That's his job. Hasek is not above criticism, as is any other player on the Red Wings. Hasek made a brainfart and embilished. Babcock called him on it, they both talked about it, they understand each other. Hasek for better/worse will continue to take chances like that b/c he's an aggressive player, despite it maybe being annoying. The media is not out to 'get' Hasek or print a 50-page biography on him unless he does something retarded like whip somebody in the crotch, a la Eddie Belfour. There is nothing to read into the situation, so let's all just put a sock in this and quit overreacting from both sides of the argument and making a big deal out of nothing. I swear, I fear what the reaction of some might be when you realize something simple in life, like how water has no color.

You realize that Lemieux has hung up the skates, and McCarty's is starting to come to a close in his hockey career, right?
-
Lebda's looked better in the short-term, Kronwall has more long-term potential in terms of overall 'production' for the way both guys play IMO. That doesn't mean that Lebda has hit any peak and can't play anymore by any stretch of the imagination. Both are going to be important to the Wings for years to come.

niklas lidstrom ...gettin no respect
SouthernWingsFan replied to zetterbergfuturemvp's topic in General
Oh no, Lidstrom's not one of the best in an online poll, heaven forbid!!!! Don't really see the big deal in getting panties in a bunch on this one, we all know he's arguably the best d-man in the league today. Why worry about what other sites/people think? -
The Wings have played a bit sloppy these past two games, but the officiating has been a joke these past few games, if you sneeze on a guy there's probably a penalty going to be called...

Fred Brathwaite rips a save out of his rear on Kirk Maltby...

I've been thinking the past few days, somebody feel free to knock me right off my feet if you think I am totally wrong, but I get the perception in here that whenever something bad happens (like Simon's or Tootoo's recent actions), that there is an overreaction, generally speaking, that this is going to just give the NHL bad pub, and nobody is going to like it, and that this is the only sport where horrible things happen, as compared to the other major professional leagues. The NHL isn't going away anytime soon in my opinion, and yes, they do need good publicity. I definitely do not support incidents like the ones by Simon or Tootoo that have recently occured. MLB, the NFL, and the NBA are all more popular than the NHL by the general population, yes. But, there are incidents that happen in these leagues all the time as well. Whether it's a pitcher intentionally beaning a batter causing dugouts to find, thus handing out suspenions for both teams... Whether it's that idiot who intentionally stomped on the other player's head (I think he played for the Titans?) when the play was over and the guy was still down... Whether you have NBA players blow gaskets getting multiple technical fouls, getting suspended or fined for a few games, or the unfortunate incident of the Pistons-Pacers last season (I'd rather not get into an argument of whose fault that was b/w players, fans, etc.). The point is, that bad things happen in all the leagues, not just the NHL, so it doesn't really concern me that a bad incident will cause the sport to be less popular to the casual fan. Good perspective, or am I totally off base here?

Datsyuk proving he can score without Zetterberg
SouthernWingsFan replied to 13dats's topic in General
Yeah, because all Russians are greedy bastards right? Why do people make retarded posts? -
A goaltending option for next year that no one has really talked about
SouthernWingsFan replied to a topic in General
Did it occur to you maybe that Luongo didn't want to come play in Detroit? Holland tried to get him, but other GM's (that's more than 1), were vying for Luongo as well? Did it occur to you that the salary cap and money was probably an issue? Many factors probably played into Luongo not being here...not just your sole factor, which is probably something revolving around "Holland is a doofus" -
Datsyuk proving he can score without Zetterberg
SouthernWingsFan replied to 13dats's topic in General
Everybody on both extremes, cool it, it's getting really old, really fast. We all know he's a talented player who's got it going currently, we all know he needs to bring that current momentum into the postseason. So quit wasting keystrokes griping back at each other please. -
Give him the gourmet shot! Be a bad motherf'er!
-
I'd like to see Lilja use his body more. I'd like to see Datsyuk continue his pace to the playoffs. I'd like for Maltby to be a pain in the rear causing others to take penalties in the playoffs. I'd like for Lang to skate fast. I'd like for Hudler to continue his hot stretch. I'd like for Draper to chop off his hands of steel. I'd like for Hasek to reamin in his crease. I'd like for Bertuzzi to knock the poop out of somebody. I'd like for Homer to continue to be a tipper. ----------------------------------------------------------------- I'd also like for somebody to take of his skate and try to stab somebody, like Happy Gilmore. I'd also like for goalies to be allowed to use handguns. Those would be some cool additions to the sport of hockey.
-
Only thing Hasek needs to do is stay in/around his crease more. Other than that, your post is all gibberish.
-
Just wait until I have a few more cups of coffee in my system..... Or something.... Just trying to keep the homerism on here on an even keel.

There's no way anybody will ever be able to prove or guarantee that.
