Yes. We all realize what Hasek's done in the past and that he's won 6 Vezina's and he's won a gold metal. We all understand and get it. Being overaggresive like he is and having it bite him in the rear end every now and then, in spite of who he is and what he has accomplished, is incredibly annoying to watch when most of the time it's unnecssary to do, and ranting about it is justifiable I think. So don't come at us with "Well he's still one of the best, I'd rather have him than other goalies, I'd like to see you do what Hasek does, etc." There was no reason IMO that Hasek had to roam away for that 3rd goal. But since I'm not Hasek and have not followed his career in depth for over a decade I've never played goalie and don't play hockey for a living, I guess I don't have an inkling of a clue what I am talking about...........

Somebody's angry (again). Yikes. Calm the heck down, you're going to get a stroke. It's not worth it.

The dude gives me a heart attack almost roaming 20 feet away from the net. I know he's been there/done it all with a Cup, Vezinas, and all those shiny trophies, but stop pucks first and stay in your crease, and pass/play the puck second. not the other way around.

Come on, hit me! I'll give you a free shot! Hit me... Hit me... Hit me... I didn't know this was imaginary sparring. Sounds like fun!

Eklund: Tkachuk (or Guerin) a Wing soon?
SouthernWingsFan replied to The Enforcer's topic in General
<-----Eklund's that dude on the right falling over when he comes up with his trade rumors. Lay off the scotch Eklund! -
I'd try to make a pitch for Laraque. Stick him on a 4th line... Flip-flop Hudler to 2nd and Williams to 4th... Cleary-Lang-Hudler will look a little stronger (assuming Samuelsson is not back yet) Laraque/Williams/Flipper...a guy who can create some space for two guys who are more talented than physical, while very comfortable playing in a limited role of around 10 minutes a game.

1270 Sports: Babcock says "players will be dealt"

Add to the news...Britney Spears will eventually check into rehab a 4th time. -
He's not the JR back in the Chicago/early Phoenix days, but he's got size and isn't afraid to use the body when necessary, and skill just doesn't completely vanish from a player all of a sudden. I wouldn't mind JR here in a limited role, 3rd line minutes or something like that. At the very least, get him to do a little dance on the ice like that one game in LA.

Wow, the 2nd/3rd pages of this topic turned into a script for a new porno movie. Maybe I should go upstairs and have some private time... *Sits back down*

Would rather have Osgood start tomorrow and Hasek vs. the Preds, but no big worries here. Just play good team defense both games, both teams can be dangerous. If the Wings can get at least 3 of 4 points from this weekend's games, life will be sweeeet.

Sorry, I'm one of the more boring fans. I've never been one to really tailgate for hours on end before again and I don't drink a lot of beers at a game. I'll react to plays in the heat of the moment but I don't ***** for 3 straight minutes about a questionable call or rant at the players. I rarely yell and usually stay calm and quiet even if it's a playoff game, I don't get rowdy or obnoxious, and I'm not a cheerleader. That doesn't make me any less of a fan. I'm still interested in the Wings, I came up a good ways to see 2 games live in December, I rarely miss games on TV on NHL Center Ice. So don't get on a high horse saying I'm not being a "real" fan. Loud crowds are great, I'm not going to lie and I'm definitely not going to be a jerk and stop others from having fun being loud, but I'm sorry, that's just not who I am unless 50 beers are in my system. I watch games for the action on the ice/court/field, not the crowd, even though watching a good crowd is a bonus.

Scenario 1: Playing Minnesota or Calgary, which would mean the Wings would have to win the Conference vs. finishing #4. Look, we all know the Wings have failed a few times, excluding 2002, when being #1. I think those two would yield an easier first round matchup, which would unlikely happen if the Wings don't win the division. We know and I'm pretty sure the team knows that isn't the ultimate goal, but winning the division should be somewhere on the food chain. I don't want it to come though at the expense of the players overworking themselves and being gassed out before the 1st round even begins. If they don't win it, it won't kill me because even though I'd rather Minnesota/Calgary, no team that will probably be making the WC playoffs is playing out of their minds right now to where I absolutely do not want to face one team over another.

2/21 GDT: vs. Chicago Blackhawks, 7:30pm
SouthernWingsFan replied to HenrikRules40's topic in General
Entertaining game and an ugly win all rolled into one. I don't care much about style points though, you get the W's however you can. Unusually sloppy on defense, but I'm not too worried about that as long as it doesn't carry over the next few games. Hasek made some pretty insane saves. More offensive support is needed for the top line. Good to see Draper get one and the 4th line have some pretty solid chances, but this cannot be just a 1-game occurance. Lang-Williams-Cleary needs to get something, anything generated, they've just been on neutral forever. Nevertheless, I'll take the ugly win. Rest up for the tough weekend! -
Was a very nice/exciting goal for a 100th. Patient people, results/goal highlights will be up on NHL.com soon.

Predators reclaim top spot in the West
SouthernWingsFan replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
Maybe he's just trying to say that they say that all teams suck. I highly doubt it's something to be taken really that seriously, so I wouldn't overreact too much. Legionnaire doesn't need any defending, but if you frequent this site more in the future you'll probably see him in here every now and again, always makes down-to-earth knowledgable posts about the Preds and gives the Wings respect and all that good stuff. -
To add a bit further to Heroes of Hockeytown's last post... 15 teams. 1 or 2 paragraphs a team that probably consist no more of 5/6 sentences. There’s only so much you can write about or people to talk about before pissing off your targeted audience when they figured out they are reading a 20-page essay instead of a 1-2 page synopsis. Bucci doesn’t even mention guys like Niedermeyer or Pronger from Anaheim, Iginla or Phaneuf from Calgary, Modano from Dallas, Nash from Columbus, or Lidstrom from our favorite team. These are guys I’d definitely consider high impact players as well. Some of you are making too much of a big deal is being made of this IMO when other big guys like the ones I mentioned above aren’t mentioned as well positively or negatively. There’s not really any spilled milk to make a fuss over with. Maybe Buccicross and other media outlets just don’t care as much about mentioning Hasek one way or the other, positively/negatively, especially when there are no groundbreaking events that might have just happened about him or anybody else. There’s nothing wrong or slighting about that. Sometimes no news is good news. Yeah, those 6 Vezinas he won are nothing then. He clearly had noting to do with winning them. Discredit all around. Give me a break...

Good lord, some people in here seem to get a wet dream knowing there's a chance to rip on Holland. I'm not a big Holland fan (so don't call me an apologist or a Holland slappie or I will jump through my computer and strangle you), he probably could have done some things in the past to better this organization with more size etc., but I am getting pretty sick and tired of people jumping the gun thinking he is the next coming of Satan before things settle down. I know he had a chance to get something like Guerin in the offseason. I know he didn't do much during last trading deadline. I GET IT. When there are multiple GMs confirming that asking prices for some of the bigger players are too high, guess what? It's not all Holland's fault for maybe not doing something yet. There's roughly a week left before the deadline, so here is an idea, even though I know it will fall on deaf ears of many. Why don't we all just be patient and wait to see what Holland does? If he doesn't do anything to better this club or has made it worse after February 27th, then we can cry out for his head to be roasted at the next barbeque? Okay? Have some patience.

The same day that the trade deadline is. I mean clearly this is no coincidence. -
Just ran into CBS.Sportsline.com's NHL section and their power ranking column has Wings #1, Buffalo #2, Nashville #5, Pitt #7. http://www.sportsline.com/nhl/story/10009884

Yeah, 5am, wee hours in the morning eating breakfast getting ready for work, I'm so tired! Maybe I should chug some more coffee to wake me up... I think it is you who needs to realize that it is not a travesty if he isn't mentioned or given credit everytime, everywhere. That doesn't take away from the fact that he's a great goalie.
-
Highly doubt that'll be happening.

Even if he offered you dibs on free donuts that he might take with him from St Louis if he comes here?
