BOB THE BUILDER!!!! Sorry, it just kinda made sense there to me.

I wish no ill will towards the Bears franchise, but this fan and the many other fans I heard treated Saints fans like s**t a few weekends ago....they all need to be kneed in the groin for their dispicable beavior. Several times.

*Sigh* C'est la vie I guess. I'll keep watching the NHL and hockey whatever station it comes on. I just hope Versus can somehow quiet a lot of the critics (including myself) out there right now and somehow get viewers' attention by going in a new direction right now broadcasting more mainstream sports.
-
You can't blame OLN/VS for trying to latch onto the NHL. They are trying to increase their networking prescene by trying to get their feet wet in new sports/leagues. The NHL obviously, plus my alma mater is a part of the Mountain West Conference, and the MWC struck a deal with VS and 1-2 MWC football games were broadcasted on Saturdays. Unsure if they've broadcasted any MWC college basketball games or not. So, VS has been double pleasure for me seeing my favorite hockey team and my school play. However, I'm only one pea in a pot out of millions. I go to a sports forum from my college every now and then and a lot of people are disgruntled that MWC games are barely on ESPN or Fox Sports anymore. It's just not available on your normal selection of cable channels in most markets. You either gotta get digi cable, DirectTV, etc. Again, VS isn't really at fault here, blame the NHL and MWC for trying to jump into a partnership with a network who has never really broadcasted mainstream sports on a consistent basis and that not many people really know about. I admire what OLN/VS is trying to do and I will always watch the Red Wings and my school whatever station(s) they come on, but I just don't see these deals working out in 3 - 5 years.

No doubt about it, and I am not denying it whatsoever. Just want to make sure that we all know our guys aren't angels 100% all the time, thus bringing up the nasty Kozlov/Foote incident. The Lemieux-Draper one was much worse though and just disgraceful as a fan to watch. EDIT goof

Claude Lemieux is a dips**t, that will never change, but what Slava Kozlov did to sucker punch Adam Foote started the whole hated rivalry, not Lemieux's hit on Draper.

Kudos to the Bears for winning the NFC, they certainly deserved it and the Saints just didn't have too many good plays in the game. A big to a lot of the Chicago Bear fans. I listened to talk radio down here today and it was largely recap of the game and people's experiences going up to the Windy City on the long road trip. Out of probably 20 - 25 reports, only 1 was good about the Bear fans. I'm interested to hear what my cousin and her husband said. Taunting players and each other is one thing, but ripping on my city saying it should have completely drowned in Katrina and it's completely ghetto post-storm absolutely piss me off. And it takes a lot to really piss me off. And this, unfortunately, was consistent from almost all the callers. And alcohol is no excuse, you can't be that wasted to say such horrible things. I could go on and on but I'll wrap up the rant now. I love my city, I love this region, despite it's many problems right now post-Katrina. I am proud to be a part of it, I am proud of the Saints, and I am proud of the resolve of the people here, many who are still going through so much trying to resume some kind of normal life. Shame on some of the Bear fans giving the great city of Chicago a bad name. Absolutely classless and low.

Woot it is game day! I'm not a big NFL/Saints fan, I never thought I'd be this hyped up for a big NFL game, but I'm looking forward to the game against da Bears. Tickets to this game were anywhere from $400 to $2,300 a pop from what I've heard on the local radios down here. One of my cousins and her husband actually lucked out to get tickets around roughly $400 and are in Chicago right now. This city will explode if the Saints win. A lot of business are going MIA for the game then re-opening back up, even restaurants and bars. Me, I am watching the game in the comfort of my own home. Alone, by myself, in peace and quiet, without any crazy fans or friends and family constant screaming at the TV thank god. I'm a dull dud to watch a sports event with, I've learned to be reserved and quiet when watching even big games.

SFE: Wings looking at 'star player' by deadline
SouthernWingsFan replied to Mighty Wings's topic in General
If Lebda gives it up then perhaps, #21 would be available though. You might want to do that trade, but I highly doubt it's worth the Hawks time of day. Just not an equa; or fair trade to me. (unless a few draft picks were involved on either side) -
We're DOOMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Detroit Lions, NFL 2006 Season Thread
SouthernWingsFan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in Other Sports
It's rare that the Wings take back seat to many things during hockey season, but tonight is one of those nights. I'm not the hugest Saints fan, but I am really looking forward to watching this playoff game tonight. A lot of people in/around the city are looking forward to it, a much-needed diversion to some really recent struggles in the city that just have got a lot of people down. -
Well, down in my neck of the woods, LSU finishes 3rd. LSU QB JaMarcus Russell turned pro. The fan in me wanted him to stay one more year obviously, but who could blame him? His arm strength is nuts, and he can scramble even at 6-6 nearly 260 if necessary. If he improves his decision-making, he could be a good NFL QB. It'll be interesting to see how the QB situation down there pans out. Backup to Russell, Matt Flynn, helped pistol-whip Miami in last season's Peach Bowl 40-3 with Russell nursing an arm injury. He is battle-tested to some extent. And they got Ryan Perilloux, who was arguably the best QB in the nation a few seasons ago in high school. He was considering transferring but opted to stay and be patient to wait for his turn. He saw very limited action as a redshirt freshman. Him and Flynn will battle it out. I still cannot believe I fell asleep during the middle of the 4th quarter of the BSU-OU thriller before the main fireworks happen. Meh, ESPN Classic will show it again soon enough. Boise St is a fun team to watch, I saw them live once actually a few years ago in the first Fort Worth Bowl between them and TCU when I was still in college at TCU. Boise St won a 34-31 squeaker. TCU finished 21/22 in the polls. I know it's lesser competition more often than not, but they've finished with 10+ wins four of the past five seasons. 10-2, 11-2, 5-6 (so much talent that year, defense just went south that season, just couldn't explain it), 11-1, 11-2. And they've made bowl games 8 of the last 9 seasons. I don't care who you play against, that's a pretty good track record. Most of their experienced hard-hitting and speedy defense returns for next season. One of their solid RBs return, hopefully a 2nd if he can get a medical redshirt pass. They just got to groom a QB for full-time duty. If the QB can keep a level head, they could once again be a non-BCS school with a shot of cracking it or being in/around the top-25 all year. Obviously being outside the big conferences, the margin of error is much slimmer. I'm contemplating going to their game at Texas in September b/c if TCU wins the week before, both schools should be ranked. UT would obviously be favored to win, but there could be a small chance that it could be one of those games like when we upset OU in 2005. With BYU being in the same conference as TCU, I wish more people could've seen them play, myself included. Their QB John Beck was an absolute stud. They had a great balanced offense, and their rush-D made up for their suspect pass-D at times. I wasn't surprised whatsoever when they beat us on our turf and that they beat the snot out of Oregon (even though Oregon was horrible down the stretch). They deserve to be a few spots higher than their 15/16 ranking in my opinion. I'll be interested in watching both the Wolverines and Spartans next year. Wolverines b/c they seem to have a lot of their guys back from this past season (correct me if I'm wrong), maybe they can get over that final hump. And the Spartans, to see if they can actually get past their usual mid-season choke-job.

If my college TCU won all their games.........well it really wasn't going to make much of a difference now was it.

Drunk Kings imbosils or Red Wings imbosils?

I'm a pretty big LSU fan. I went to one LSU game this year. Granted it was Mississippi State they played against, so a win was all but assured, but he was still insane that game. 18-20 I think for 330 yards and 3 TDs. He does have all the physical tools. He sometimes makes bonehead plays though, largely from being so confident in his skills and having some arrogance. That's not completely a bad thing, but you can't always fit a square peg in a round hole. Russell is also a respectable scrambler for his size. That's not going to be his #1 attack obviously, if you saw his last TD pass of the Sugar Bowl to Brandon Lafell when he chucked it 50 yards while ON THE RUN, you know he has a ridiculous cannon. He can scramble around if necessary though.

Why the retainment? Because he makes good a** prints on the sideline bench sitting and moping from the frustration he continually watches and is a huge part of?

The sky can also be orange and yellow for a short period of time if there's a beautiful sunset. Seriously though, I second this. I don't understand what is so wrong or evil about this person. Was she the class bully in grade school to a bunch of people in here?
-
Ok, what's so terrible about this article? Is there an overstating of opinion or is she sounding like an arrogant jack***?Doesn't look like it to me, but clearly I'm missing something here. Look, Yorio's not the best journalist out there IMO. But she's a professional for a reason and she's had to have worked hard and do something right in the past to get this far. Give the woman a break. She gets almost as bad treatment in here as Lilja or Deveraux sometimes which is pretty silly.

The pre-game cocktail slash dinner, game, and post-game gathering was quite good. Thanks to all three I came with for going, it was definitely enjoyable!

I will be attending the bowl game my alma mater is playing in. The very first one, the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego. TCU plays Northern Illinois, this game is going to top the TV charts! Seriously, it should actually be a decent matchup, my school is back in the top 25, has always had an extremely solid defense against the run, and we're playing against Garret Wolfe of NIU who leads the nation in rushing.

One of the invaders, not to be mistaken with a Space Invader or Darth Vader since the invader is neither an alien or half human/half machine, is invading the Detroit area in the earlier part of December this weekend. That invader is me.

Four would be fine with me, anything to make the process a bit more fair. Six would be the perfect ideal number if the games were balanced out I think.

I honestly don't see why an 8-team playoff system would not work while keeping the integrity of the bowls. You still have the filler bowls before New Year. You still have the BCS system determine the standing and get the top eight teams in the BCS standings in a playoff, all starting New Year's Day. That makes for a seven-game playoff system. The first round has four games (1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5). Since New Year's Day is a national holiday, you can play three of the first round games that day... Game #1 - 12:00 ET start, Orange Bowl Game #2 - 3:00/4:00 CT, Sugar Bowl Game #3 - 4:00/5:00 PT, Rose Bowl This way the Rose Bowl integrity isn't completely compromised, still being on New Year's Day. You play Game #4 of the first round on the evening of Jan. 2 at the Fiesta Bowl. The second round, the winner of 1-8/4-5 play against each other, and 3-6/2-7 play each other. These games are played 1 week later, on Jan. 7 & Jan 8. The winner of those games play in the final round, the following weekend either to maintain high TV ratings. It's simple, practical, and doesn't compromise the integrity of bowls all that much and it isn't too long/too short of a process.
