My neighbor basically threw LSU tickets for this weekend on my lap for $0.00, so I was jumping for joy to go to Tiger Stadium today for the first time in forever. Mississippi State (the other MSU that is pretty painful to watch at times ) is just not good. What the hell happened to them, they used to dominate on defense and ever since the late 90s they have stunk. LSU was up 35-0 on them only 20 minutes into the game on the way to an easy 48-17 win. JaMarcus Russell was tearing them apart. It was embarassing. 18-20 for 330 yards, 3 TDs. That's efficiency (despite the not-so-great opponent).

What about my tp'ing idea? Cops might be needed for that if we aren't too careful.

Bye bye BCS TCU My school better rebound quickly on the road against a tough Utah team next week, or it's bye bye for a chance at a conference championship. If that happens, then dare I say it, maybe fighting for their lives for a bowl game. First loss for my school in a good while. They better not moan and quit on me, there's still a lot of football left to be played this season. Focus on making a late bowl game.

Sure everybody is aware now that the suicidie attempt reports were false... I seriously cannot stand Owens and his drama queen antics, but I'd like to get a hold off the person who reported this and slap him/her silly. I am so sick and tired of hearing about T.O., just when you think you can't hear anything else about him, you hear something like this. No, I don't hate Owens that much and want him to die or anything like that, and I'm glad to learn that he wasn't intending to commit suicide. Whatever mental or depression problems he might be having, if any, I hope he gets past, because as much as I can't stand him, you never want to see people stop doing the things they love and make a living at prematurely.

Detroit Lions, NFL 2006 Season Thread

It defiintely was. I watched most ofin the French Quarter which is just outside downtown New Orleans and the Superdome and the whole area was just jumpin and happy. I never saw so many people down here this happy and excited and hopeful about something for a long time. It was so much fun and it felt good just to see everybody enjoying themselves and relieving some stress temporarily. Thank God I got out of the area though right before the game ended, you can only imagine what the French Quarter was like after the game with all the celebrating. -
My sources say Sorry..... I'm thinkin it's Lidstrom although it's not 100% confirmed.

I'm pretty excited for Monday Night Football tomorrow night. I'm not the biggest of Saints fans in my neck of the woods, but tomorrow night is going to be something special. A different team and a different attitude with a 2-0 start. A winnable game against the Falcons if they can contain Vick. But, much more importantly, the 1st game back in the Superdome, the same place that Hurricane Katrina rotted, in over a year. I'm not going to be at the game, but it's going to be an event worth remembering. The re-birth of a great Amercian city. We've still got a long, long way to go to completely recover from the storm, but slowly and surely it is going to be done damn it, and the Superdome is just one of the many examples tomorrow and in the future that will show this city is going to make it. New Orleans will be re-born once again, and I'm proud to be a part of it. -
I'll probably be up either Fri 12/1 - Sun 12/3 or Thurs 12/7 - Sun 12/10 pending if I can get tickets to the Maple Leafs game on Sat 12/9. I already got tickets for Sat 12/2 game against the Sharks but if I get Maple Leaf tickets, I'm going to sell or give away my tickets on the 12/2 game. If I'm up that first weekend over the second though, an event will have to be tailored around watching college football somewhere on 12/2 as I think it's a big weekend of matchups and my school is on TV as well. EDIT - Learned I am defiintley getting Maple Leaf tickets, so I will be up that 2nd weekend.

MSU will deceive me no more. I honestly thought when I left last night early in the 4th quarter they had this one in the bag and they were over their sleepwalking ways. Typical flakeout job by them unfortunately. I don't know if they'll recover from this one, a loss like this would be pretty damn hard to get over. In the meantime, go Froggies! Big game Thursday against a pretty good BYU team. I'm hoping their quarterback is still out (not for the QBs sake or b/c I might dislike him ) because John Beck is as good a QB in the country right now. TCU will be favored in this game at home, probably around 10 at leat, but I wouldn't be surprised if this game was a lot closer. If BYU can stop TCU's offense, there could be an upset. Even though TCU shut down Texas Tech's high-powered offense, I'm not expecting them to be as successful in stopping BYU's high-powered attack, because Beck is a lot more experienced and seasoned right now than TT's current quarterback. The TCU-BYU game last year was crazy. BYU was winning 34-16 late in the 3rd quarter. TCU's starting QB at the time got knocked out with an injury, so I was like, we're screwed. The backup QB (who is the current QB now) came in only throwing one pass in his collegiate career. He slowly chips away at the BYU defense and TCU mounts a ridiculous comeback, taking a 44-41 lead at one point with about 1 1/2 minutes left in the 4th. The QB was just playing and leading amazing under extremely adverse conditions on the road against a pretty decent-sized crowd. BYU ties the game up with no time left to go into OT. They score on their first play to take a 50-44 lead but on the extra point, the holder bobbles the snap. TCU chips away on their chance, on 3rd and goal from about the 3-yard line they hand it off on a wide receiver end-around type play, he fumbles it on the goalline and BYU recovers, but the refs rule there was no conclusive evidence to override the TD call. TCU kicks the extra point and wins 51-50. Definitely one of those game I wish I could've recorded.

I went out to watch an expected LSU win tonight and glanced at MSU-Notre Dame a good bit. They were taking it to them just about the whole game, but I just get home a few minutes ago with MSU only up by 4 now. Going to be interesting last 5 minutes! I predicted that ND would lose this game as well... EDIT: *sighs* after that Stanton interception

Not for my school. This is the first time in forever that TCU is ranked this high this early. TCU started the season 22nd, have opened the season with a win over an improving Baylor team on the road, a lopsided win at home against a I-AA team, and a very impressive win at home against Texas Tech, limiting their high-powered offense to ONLY 3 POINTS. And since TCU is not in one of the BCS conferences, they lose once, they could probably their chance goodbye. If TCU gets past their next two foes, pretty challenging games against BYU and at Utah, they will flirt with a top-10 ranking and the schedule softens up some. Still, I don't care if you are in the Big 10, SEC, or the grammar school flag football team. Going undefeated against ANYBODY is very difficult. But, if they can get past these next two games, and take the rest of their games seriously, they've got a really, really good chance. So them moving up a lot of spots this early is very important for their cause in making it to one of the big bowls.

The guy's gotta be mentally ill or something. He's just f'ed up in the head right now. Should've stayed with OSU for at least another two seasons IMO.

Wish I could've seen some of the big Michigan victory. I went back to my school this weekend for one of the Separation Saturday games that was probably under the radar a bit, TCU-Texas Tech. TCU's defense is good, but I was just shocked the way they just completely dominated TT from start to finish. No touchdowns given to their offense, and only one field goal to an offense that can put up 350, 400 yards passing in the air per game on a normal basis. We only gave up over 200 yards passing to them on nearly 50 pass attempts. And, keep in mind, these two schools met in 2004, and Tech just slaughtered TCU that game 70-35. This was the last game I would've ever thought would go without any touchdows throughout a game. I was expecing a 38-35 outcome or something, but TCU grinds out a 12-3 victory with just enough offensive life and 4 FGs. 11-1 last season, top-25 right now, 4-0 vs. the Big 12 this season and last, two of those games on the road. Time for some RESPECT! :rockstar:

Oh how I wish I had 15 TV's during Saturday afternoon! No. 6 LSU at No. 3 Auburn 2:30 p.m. No. 11 Michigan at No. 2 Notre Dame 2:30 p.m. No. 15 Oklahoma at No. 18 Oregon 2:30 p.m. No. 17 Miami (Fla.) at No. 12 Louisville 2:30 p.m. No. 24 Texas Tech at No. 20 TCU 4:30 p.m. No. 7 Florida at No. 13 Tennessee 7 p.m. No. 19 Nebraska at No. 4 USC 7 p.m. These are some damn good matchups this upcoming weekend.

I'm not too familiar with tennis and a lot of the stars, but Federer is pretty damn good from what I watched today. It's a shame Roddick couldn't get going on that first set, cause he had Federer on the backburner that second set once he started to make some plays. When he lost that third set and Federer won the 7th game, it just kinda sunk him I think and he knew he had too long of a hill to climb.

Comments on games I watched yesterday... Saw my school on Internet streaming last night (for free too! ). TCU slowly but surely put I-AA UC Davis away winning 46-13, putting the lights out with two TDs in the 3rd quarter after being up by 13 at halftime. Took care of business for the most part and they didn't take them lightly, and don't forget UC Davis won at Stanford last year, so they're no cupcake. Can't wait for TCU-Texas Tech next weekend, that'll be a fun, fun game to watch with loads of offense. Glad OLN decided to broadcast Mountain West games. I was surprised how LSU just took it to Arizona. They were pretty sloppy offensively in the 2nd quarter but it didn't matter, the defense was just so dominant or Arizona just kept shooting themselves in the foot. Was 24-0 at halftime, 45-3 final. Once TCU and LSU ended, I watched all the 2nd half of Texas-OSU. Having a QB that is experienced and a playmaker, or somebody who can consistently get it in the hands of other playmakers goes a long way. Vince Young did it last year, Troy Smith returned the favor. And I'm not trying to slight Colt McCoy either, he should be a great quarterback in time, but it was hard to ask him to be the man after just two games of starter duty, especially with one of those games against a team that should finish in the top-5 or be a national champion at the end of the season, provided OSU doesn't hit any land mines. McCoy and UT should be fine, it'll be hard to repeat this year, but they still could contend and be up there the next few seasons.

Yes! Saints are 1-0! Super Bowl time baby! -
When is the match? I could be blind but I could not find a time for it anywhere on any sports sites. EDIT: NM I just channel-surfed and found it's coming on soon on CBS.

Going to be an interesting game for my school tomorrow. It's against a I-AA team, California-Davis, but this team is far from a pushover, and after my school beat OU last year in the huge upset to start the season, they fell flat on their face against an average SMU team. Plus, the last time they played a I-AA team, Northwestern State (about 60 miles SSE of Shreveport), another respectable program of that level, they got upset, which I was unfortuantely in attendance at. It's a game where all signs point to a win, but it's one of those land mine/trap games that if you don't take it in full seriousness, there's a good possibility you blow it and lose a game you shouldn't.

Let's not forget.... Notre Dame-USC LSU-Auburn LSU-Florida OSU-Michigan West Virginia-Louisville (this year at least) Texas-Oklahoma And probably a few more I could list if I pondered some more... Legionnaire...7-6? Good lord! Curious I am...was beating Vanderbilt at the time MTSU did last year considered a huge win since they were still undefeated or only one loss, or was it to be expected? I can maybe rival that game. My school played at North Texas one year I was there, was just a short 30 minute drive north from TCU. North Texas, at least during my time while I was at TCU, had about the most bland and predictable offense you could imagine, running at least 8-9 times out of 10. Rarely had any of a passing game. The final score of that game in 2001 was TCU winning 19-5. Other than an insanely ridiculous diving touchdown grab by one of our receivers in the 1st/2nd quarter, it was the dullest game on the face of the planet. UNT didn't score any touchdowns as I suspected, and our offense was just stuck in the mud other than that touchdown, as 4 field goals would attest.

Ok, I just tuned into the Open a few minutes ago this evening... WTF is up with Sharapova yelling everytime she hits the ball? She sounds like one of those extremely intense karate people or a porn star in the middle/end parts of a sex scene. I just want to jump through my TV and tell her to shut up!

Well my school just wrapped up their first game, a tough grind it out victory. We were playing like dog poop for the most part at Baylor, down 7-0 at half. They put a new pass-happy offense that was giving TCU some problems, they were moving it efficiently, but they could've easily had at least 13 points. Our starting QB got injured, not to mention two of the best running back for TCU was injured before the game started, so I thought we were in deep crap, putting in a redshirt freshman QB in on the road at a Big 12 school (yes I know it's Baylor, but give us some credit. ). We were down 7-3 in the 3rd with Baylor driving deep in TCU territory, but we caught a huge break, tipped a pass and got an interception off that deflection. We luckily scored on a huge TD pass over 80 yards to make it 10-7, and scored on another long series over 80 yards next time around to make it 17-7 in the 4th, and the defense kept Baylor honest the rest of the way. Baylor won't win the Big 12, they still might not go to a bowl game. But given the situation, brand new quarterback in his first collegiate game action ever, and on the road after being down at halftime, two of the major running backs out, and also one of our playmakers at wide receiver, you gotta give them credit where/when it's due. The QB was cool and calm almost the entire 2nd half. TCU's third straight win over a Big 12 team as well after the major upset at Oklahoma to start off last season and beating Iowa State in our bowl game last year. Given the circumstances of the game and the injuries, I don't care if it was Baylor, Texas, USC, or the Walla Walla Washington 10-year old pep squad, I'll take this ugly come-from-behind victory.

I tuned into most of the 3rd set until the very end. I was surprised to see how many unforced errors Becker had, and some of them were BAD. Nevertheless, he turned his game back on when he needed to most those last few games. I wish I would've watched tennis a bit more and become familiar with the main players to understand a some more what Agassi has meant to the sport.
-
I tuned in late into game 4 and got into game 5 where Agassi started off slow but then came back. Great action, these guys can strike the ball with so much power under control. Unfortuantely I couldn't keep my sorry behind from staying awake so I missed the very end.

T-minus just a few days for my school to debut on Sunday. Lookin forward to seeing TCU on the tele vs. Baylor to start (I'll wait for you all to tone down the excitement on that matchup ) Really, really looking forward to driving up in about two weeks though for TCU-Texas Tech. Both schools are in the top-25, should have A LOT of scoring, and TCU never sold out any games when I was in school there despite how they've put out really good teams more often than not since the late 90s. The stadium seats roughly 46,000, so there could be an overside crowd close to 48,000, but that could be stretching it. This game is though and hopefully the crowd will be loud for a change.
