Money wise, Modano was playing for peanuts pretty much. So it's silly to get upset if you are approaching it from that angle. Second, you're not going to get many to agree with you in all likelihood. Is it headline grabbing news? Sure. But I don't see anything on how this is a drama queen report or it's all about me or whatever. He's just simply saying it's probably time to hang them up, nothing more or less. If that's his decision, cool. Hopefully this means he'll bust his rear end off harder given it's probably his last shot, instead of mailing it in. I'm having a hard time trying to follow your logic here.

Meh, fans and players alike talk stuff all the time that gets read way too much into more often than not. While it helps, Wings shouldn't need bulletin board material to psyche themselves up. If this is something that he wants to use to help his team out, more power to him. Nothing none of us really haven't seen at all in our lives.

I think you/anybody else that doesn't have local Fox Sports on TV should be fine this game. I can't recall one instance when VS has concluded any first broadcasts early just to join a second game in progress. I remember a late Wings-Ducks playoff game starting late/joining in progress in 2009 on Versus (albiet just about 2 minutes in thankfully right after another game ended). It's just luck of the draw sometimes with multiple broadcasts early in a postseason, and we got luck of the draw this time around compared to Washington-New York in terms of games broadcasted this early evening.

I'm glad we signed Modano this past season, but it has been a frustrating season for him. I'm all for him still playing in the playoffs (though I obviously get if he is scratched as his ice time has dropped plenty these past few games). If he wants it to be over, cool. I get it. Sometimes you just know when it's time to stop and move onto other things, and this appears to be that time for him. Hopefully what he's hinting at will make him skate and work just that much harder and he doesn't focus more on when will it end, etc.

I just can't do it. More like won't. I can grow facial hair absurdly fast, 4-5 days I probably have a decently grown beard if I don't shave, but I just like being clean. I've never had a full beard. I've grown goatees infrequently throughout life but I'm always impatient with them with itching and the like. Tried growing one and being patient with it in late January or February, only lasted about a week and a half. So, you'll probably never see me with a beard ever in my life. More power to y'all who are patient enough with them.

If he can re-cooperate and stay healthy and beat out competition for the backup position for next training camp, I'm all for him returning. I admire him trying to come back now as well for this postseason, but unless Howard and MacDonald are carried off on stretchers, I don't see how he fits in for the postseason coming in rusty.

They are expressing legitimate concerns that have been consistent across this team lately, and all these same people want the Wings to win as well. Now, if it was my own personal space or playground and I saw some of these blurbs or comments on them where I had full authority to do what I want or delete them, would I? In all likelihood yes. This isn't my personal playground, this isn't your personal playground either, this is nobody's personal playground alone. You want to be a cheerleader? Cool. Shut the f**k up and let others have their moments without being absolute pr**ks when nobody is suggesting such attitudes or saying ZOMG THEY SUCK THEY ALL NEED TO GO NOW!!!!!!! It is just as aggravating, if not more, than people that suggest we are screwed before we have even started. I used to be the same way a lot and it's not worth the time. Please learn silence sometimes when it's not your own personal battlestation where you control all the rules. EDIT: Now as for the game itself, I wasn't overly disappointed. The outcome stunk of course, but the effort was there pretty much, Ward was just in a zone unfortunately. If they can bring this effort most games, I am encouraged by a deep playoff run, but inconsistency with effort and execution still plagues this team. So I am not sure really what to think or be accurate with. If this is a negative nancy post to some of you, sorry.

When Miller was scratched at Buffalo I was a bit surprised. I have no doubt he would've loved to play that game, and Modano would probably think it's cool if he played to 1500 games, they've probably thought about it, but it's probably something they quickly got over and don't think about much anymore, not worth getting upset over and holding a grudge at the coach for.

I'm conflicted. In general, I like the city of Chicago. I have some family there. One of my friends down here is originally from Chicago. I went to Chicago for the first time in probably about 20 years this past April and enjoyed it. In general I like the concept of Chicago sports. However part of me would go HA-HA if the Wings kept them out. Not because of the team, overall for the most part I like the Blackhawks team, usually always have. It is because of their fans. I'm probably not being completely fair and every sports team in every city has plenty of a'holes and morons, but I always thought people in here read too much into the Chicago vs. Detroit thing, at least from the NHL teams. Honestly I don't mind the Detroit sucks thing, it's silly but they can say thousands of things worse. But when I watched that game and the ceremony honoring Chris Chelios who was one of the best franchise players ever and most the crowd booed him, that kinda did it for me. I was stunned. Also, back in 2006 the Saints down here were playing in the NFC Championship game at the Chicago Bears. I didn't go up to that game but knew some people that did, they said they were miserable there (not talking about the weather, the disrespect they got towards fans there), and listening to local talk radio down here the few days after the game, I didn't hear one good story from locals saying they were treated well by Chicago Bear fans, that some were being disrespectful towards them with Hurricane Katrina (it was just roughly 1 - 1 1/2 years removed from Katrina wreaking havoc down here). I remember seeing a picture of a Bear fan sporting a billboard saying "We are going to finish what Katrina started". I don't get too much into fan smack talk or stupid s**t like that showing others up but that's just something you do not do. So, I'm probably not being completely fair to all Chicago fans, but I don't recall many good experiences reading about them in recent memory. My guess is no though, I think there will be a split of the final 2 games, and they get in.
