Nicklas Lidstrom is never allowed to retire.

It's just not "right" at present time for whatever reason. The team is way too inconsistent. However, I think that's probably been a popular opinion in previous recent seasons like in 2009, and that team was just 1 win away from winning it all, the defense pretty much played lights out most games when it struggled most that season, etc. Back last season, I felt fairly confident they could make a deep run b/c they played solid most towards the end of last season and got healthy, and there were just times against Phoenix where they just took them to school when it mattered most. None more defining than game 7 of that series. San Jose series, the referees were god awful that whole series, but it's not like the Wings were blown out of the water in just 5 games that series, pretty much every one was close but awful calls and just a few bad bounces and there ya go. While they exited earlier than we want, I think they still played a decent series. I think a good standard is that when this team is as able to play as close to a 60 minute game as possible or have a good break or two go there way early in a game, they are as difficult an out there is as anyone. Right now, I don't see it, but they "flipped a switch" per se in 2009, at times last post season, so hopefully that might be a case again for a deep playoff run.

There's not much that makes me flip my lid in life instantly, but bad officiating in pretty much any sport is one of them. I'm generally fairly muted during games, if it is a game or team I am really interested in and want to win I don't really cheer much, razz the crowd, whatever, I just watch intently and pretty much quietly. But if officials are incompetent I blow gaskets (i.e. I was at a playoff basketball game for the high school I went to tonight and even though my school won, the officiating was just downright terrible pretty much the whole game, I barely mumbled any words other than when the refs were stupid). I don't know what this GM is like, I'll just have to take some in here for their words that he's a goofball, but I don't give a damn that he complains about the officiating. From the example above I do from time to time, lord knows that plenty people in here do whether you want to admit it or not. Wrong context though in the complaint. It's not all because of the Red Wings or any other one team or player. NHL officiating and/or the rules is just so horribly inconsistent all across the board for all teams, not just the Red Wings or the Kings. I'll chalk this up to him being frustrated in the heat of the moment of the Kings pretty much playing an awful game after they had a great start. Nothing worth remembering a few days later or worth holding against him for the rest of his life. Eventually will be a non-story.

It is very annoying. If you like him, cool, not here to change your mind and probably nothing will regarding this. In general I'm usually just a muted person, I don't get overly emphatic about much, I react to things in the heat of the moment and just go from there.

This makes Jaws very unhappy.

And these are examples of what makes following Jiri Hudler so fricken annoying. There can't be one instance where he has a decent game without people who continually insist on humping his leg overvaluing him and others who have to keep undervaluing his performance. Would love to go just one game just leaving it with him having a solid game and not have people going on either extreme regarding him.

Holmstrom's never been fleet of foot, and while a lot of his goals come from mucking and hard work in front of the net, put a lot of guys with skilled people like Datsyuk and Zetterberg and their numbers will go up. Play with 3rd liners like Abdelkader or Miller, the stat numbers will probably go down a bit. They obviously haven't carried him 24-7-365, but just basically pointing out the obviously that playing with talented guys like Datsyuk and Zetterberg will probably help your numbers some. He's all but done after next season but he's far from a problem on this team. Once everybody gets healthy again or if this team really starts to hit a snag, the line combos will be juggled and he'll be with more offensive-capable producers.

Like in most cases, it's not one player that is bringing the team down, but a combo of things. And, it is like this again. While Howard hasn't been consistently magnificent, neither has the team in front of him. Not using those as excuses, just more of pointing out the obvious and that they are more factors in the game than excuses. The Wings defense hasn't been all that consistent lately either and while Howard could do better, it'd take a lot to say bench him or look for a trade or eventually sign a high-priced name goalie to carry your team. Not a lot of teams do that anymore.

Avery's the type of person you hate if he isn't on your team, but could (keyword COULD, not would) love if he were on your roster. His attitude as it showed in the past would've eventually gotten him out of the door in Detroit I think eventually if not for him being traded. He's had plenty of drama queen moments off the ice as well to question his attitude. I'm not one of these ZOMG TOUGHNESS YAY people on here but after years of being in the league, and not really hearing much drama out of him, I'd be open to giving him another opportunity given that he plays a physical style typically, and hoping that he has matured some.
