Epic post. I love it! Franzen hasn't scored in 5 or so games? So he's on a 0-goal per season pace then! Let's not forget that! This is just another of an endless example by eva unit zero that stats are not the end all to be all determination of how a player will perform. ^ This. Hudler or Flipper or *insert player's name* haters are pretty damn annoying, but the favorite player apologists are just as annoying as well, if not more. You all know who you are. I long for the day when you all realize that you are never really going to change the opinions of others who might not like the favorite player no matter how much or how hard you try and how blue your face might get. Only the athlete performing and what he does or doesn't do is going to change the "haters" mind. If you want to call them that. Irony is a funny thing sometimes. Anyways, given that the team is playing as good as it can be lately, keep things intact for the time being, although I think Zetterberg and Datsyuk will play together again once everybody is fully healthy or the team hits a rough patch potentially. Flipper-Modano-Homer will be interesting, never really envisioned all three of them playing together.

Pretty much spot on. He's one of the very few people on the ice that I don't like all that much. But in general you want people to live normal lives and stay out of trouble outside of their line of work, and professional sports is no exception. Hopefully he's able to keep clean.

Read about this recently, and I am not reading much into this given how Bettman is a master of just dodging questions/not answering them in context. Before Pittsburgh got to play in a 2nd Winter Classic due to he who shall not be named, I was flat out against other teams playing in a 2nd outdoor game before others had a turn first. Since that got thrown out the window quickly, I'm all for the Wings playing a 2nd ASAP, but won't be shocked if it happens anytime soon due to lip service by Bettman per usual. Other places that should host it first are New York, Minnesota, and Colorado. No opinion/preference on whether it is playing in Ann Arbor or downtown Detroit.

Yay, another thread where people who dislike Hudler and the one poster who obsessively loves him get to yell and shout at each other. These people know who they are. Yes, I am dripping with sarcasm. In a perfect world I'd love to keep everybody, yet so many people harp on wanting young faces. Eaves is still in his mid-20s with the most potential upside of 3rd/4th liners we are talking about. I was thinking this off/on over the past week or so. Not so much of re-signing Draper but do you keep him in the lineup when everybody is fully healthy on the roster again. He's showing some unusual offensive flair here/there and certainly making it hard to perhaps put him out of the lineup when everybody gets back. Definitely not a bad thing. I want to see young guns play a bit more but I understand and respect the loyalty factor for this organization, and just in general for business or sports. Draper has earned the right to retire on his own terms within reason for this organization. If he thinks he can still go for another season or two, I'm all for re-signing him even if he's just a fill in or 30 game-a-season player or whatever.
