Just a rookie. If it were down to a decision of just a few games or a playoff series, I'd consider scratching him, but he's still been in this system for a lengthy time for a reason. Remember how much Ericsson was bagged on last season, and overall this season he's been fine for the most part. Short-term/recent past he hasn't been all that good, but I want him to work out here for the long term.

He's done gigs off/on with them in the past. When the Wings played on VS against the Rangers recently I think he was on there, so I'm assuming whenever Fox Sports Detroit doesn't have the broadcasting rights for a specific game/national broadcasts, he goes on NHL Network sometimes.

I go back and forth on Don Cherry thinking he is hilarious/entertaining at times then there are some WTF moments whenever I hear him infrequently, but I give him major kudos for this piece on Matt Cooke. I don't like getting outspoken on players, there aren't many that I really just dislike, but Matt Cooke has completely jumped near the top of the list in lightning fashion this year. He's scum. And I don't say that about a lot of players.

I can't stand Pittsburgh just as much as anybody in here because of he who shall not be named and Matt Cooke, but as somebody who has had re-constructive surgery on a torn ACL/MCL as well about 7 years ago and is currently having issues on my other knee, I feel for Malkin, it's going to take a good while for him to get back out there in all likelihood.

Pretty much this. And, it is also like this in most instances of both the goalie and the defense not pulling their weight despite how much Red Wings fans act like lunatics about goaltending. Howard hasn't done much to impress lately but neither has the defense either outside of the New Jersey game. We've seen this team flip a switch per se in 2009 where defense and Osgood were both playing pretty awful but they were able to zone in for most of the playoffs. We've seen Howard play well last season and for parts of the playoffs as well. While he was a factor in an early playoff exit, like above it wasn't just him alone. Thankfully this season the team has built up a decent cushion in the standings to where making the playoffs should not be a problem. If for whatever reason management is seeking out a goalie in a trade to back up Howard if Osgood doesn't get better, or even press Howard, I'm all for whatever helps the team, but I'm perfectly comfortable with Howard and Osgood if they and the defense can clean their act up.

Saw the highlights for this late last night. I dislike Matt Cooke just as much as anybody in here but I have no clue if he did anything in the game to warrant what DiPietro did to him, cause it was a bit over the top. As for the punch, it didn't even look like Johnson hit him hard, just in the right spot perhaps.

Last time I remember diving being called was Helm in the playoffs against Phoenix one game last season. I highly doubt we will ever see it called again. San Jose could've had at least 4, maybe 5 dives that first or second game against us in our playoff matchups. It's bush league yes, but if the refs aren't going to do squat about it, I wouldn't blame them for keeping on diving. Just another example of the officiating in this league in general having a head full of bricks.
