Red Wings asked NHL not to pick Zetterberg for all star game
SouthernWingsFan replied to Kingston's topic in General
This is Eklund we are talking about here. Hard to take much of what he says seriously when he just makes up so many random rumors. -
Whether this was his direct intention or not, who knows, but your blurb illustrates just how stubborn and annoying some people in here can be when it comes to their favorite players. And, on the flip side as well, with people in here having an obsessive disliking of certain players when those players aren't doing all that bad as they want to portray and so forth. And Bertuzzi thinks that you all suck, so ha. *shrugs*

80, it sounds cooler and is higher. Running into a tree at full speed or Slipping and sliding on ice?

Nope. If that was true I'd probably be engaged or married now. Like everything else in life, it's one of those things that if you want it enough, you'll go about finding ways to get it. The person below me is distraught just as much as I am in learning that sponges grow in oceans.

Good. I'm obviously all for physical play, but do it the right way.

We're a point out of the top spot in the conference, are sitting well for the playoffs in spite of injuries right now, unlike last season. Not to say I'm not against trading guys like Hudler or Miller (not that I have anything against them, want them to do good etc.) to make the roster better, but there is no need to make a drastic move unless we make just have a long stretch of games where we tank, which I don't think will happen.

Depends on whatever way you want to spin it. This year (but you can probably do this just about every year), if you just want to compare the top teams of each conference against each other, you could make a case of whichever conference being better. But if you ask this question to a Flyers or Penguins fan at present, of course they are going to say their team is the best meaning the Eastern Conference is probably better because they are in that conference. Just like I would assume a Wings or Canucks or Stars fan at present to do the same for their teams and the Western Conference. Super star talent or brand names or whatever, you could probably make a case that the Eastern Conference might be better, fair or not. Overall depth though in the league, I think it is safe to say the past few recent seasons, the Western Conference has produced more quality results/teams.

Don't know who either are, but Dee sounds like a cool name so I'll go with that. Cornier Villan Cliche: Destroy Them or Annihilate Them

Not a giant pressing urge, but it's a cool thing whenever it happens. The person below me thinks this is funny.

Ran 10 1/3 miles this morning in about 90 minutes, roughly an 8:44/mile pace, and I am a happy camper for doing so.

This just in... Crosby smells.

I love goal scoring obviously, but I'd go with low-scoring games. I'm still a strong believer of defense winning championships in pretty much any sport. Defense alone obviously doesn't win, but we need to look no further than our own 2008 Stanley Cup Championship where we pretty much limited Pittsburgh's two top goal scoring stars in a 7-game series to not have much impact.
-
They're obviously fairly comparable given that they employ the same role more/less for the team. I'd give Helm the edge in speed, which would be a slam dunk now given that Draper is going to hang up the skates sooner than later, but I think he'd still have the edge on a younger Draper. I'd give Draper the edge in being more of an annoyance or pest to the other team over the course of his career. Who knows if Helm will develop more of that specifically. I'd give Draper the edge in finishing/goal scoring, though that's not completely fair because we've seen Draper show some offensive flair over his career, albeit inconsistently, with a 20+ goal season and a few seasons around 15 goals, while Helm is still young.

^ And FYI those weird dudes (or weird dude) is in the middle of flipping a coin eventually, hence heads and tails. Yeah, I'm pretty weird...

My alma mater - Rose Bowl champions, 13-0, all but guarateed a top-2 spot. Hell yes. Saturday's victory was just as big a deal to me as the Saints winning the Super Bowl or the Wings winning the Stanley Cup. Just was so happy beyond belief Saturday evening and it isn't going away anytime soon. Now, as far as TCU (and you could probably put Stanford in this mix as well) taking on Auburn or Oregon, I certainly think they have a good shot against either team if it's just 1 game. I'd love to see it happen. But I'm not going to go on a soapbox saying that it's unfair that they aren't or BCS SUCKS. I already know it does and any rants about it are just a waste of breath. The BCS stinks up the joint for both non-AQs and AQs alike (i.e. TCU vs. Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl last year, Auburn in 2004 not playing for all the marbles despite being undefeated, Michigan State this year, and plenty of examples of non-AQs either not even coming an inkling close of consideration of an official national championship after winning a BCS bowl/finishing undefeated, or even making the BCS at all with an undefeated season). You can argue or debate who is more or less deserving out of all these examples but that's not the point and personally that'd aggravate the hell out of me. The point is the system stinks for all schools alike. We won the Rose Bowl, which is arguably the best and most prestigious bowl game outside of the National Championship, and while my alma mater may not be the "official" National Champion, they are champions to me (in the general sense). I'm not going to whine anytime soon about anything and it's just so awesome what they accomplished.
