I think most people get that this is the bottom line, most people get that it's for ratings, etc. Doesn't mean these people can't vent their frustrations either. I think you'll get a lot less of the "THIS IS SO UNFAIR TO THE REST OF THE LEAGUE!!!" if the perception of you know who was generally more accepted, whether that perception is fair or not. It wouldn't make it completely right or 100% acceptable, but many in here would be a lot less vocal about it I think. Add to it in here that we've played Pittsburgh for all the marbles two years in a row, and the disdain of Crosby and Pitt playing again gets bigger obviously. And I am pretty much exactly in this boat. Pretty much anybody in here gets that Crosby is one of the best players in the game today. However the dead whistle or off ice stuff and the whining can be significantly improved. If Crosby lowered the level on being a whiney sour brat (and I'm obviously not expecting him to cater to me or fans that hate him etc.), I probably wouldn't show as much disdain for Pittsburgh playing in a second outdoor game well before other teams have even had a sniff of an opportunity. It just eventually gets to be overkill with guys like Crosby and Ovechkin with marketing, a lot like Lebron James in the NBA, Brett Favre in the NFL, etc. Just get tired of hearing their names to where you don't really mind if they mess up. Both sides have legitimate arguments - profitability vs. fans being pissed off that Pitt is in again. Now on the business side of it, there's only one thing obviously, it is profitability, but we're not on the business side of it in here. I think I said this in a post earlier in here, but will I completely shut off my TV to it? No. I like watching hockey and sports in general, but don't expect me to do cartwheels over the Crosby vs. Ovechkin hype since it's way past nauseating hearing their names over and over again, especially one of the two having a whiney attitude more often than not. I'll channel flip and tune in here and there but I'll be watching college football bowl games most the day and my school is playing in the Rose Bowl that afternoon, so my focus will largely be elsewhere. And FYI/for the record, I don't follow the NFL as much as the Wings/the NHL, and I barely watch the NBA until the playoffs start, and the names I mentioned above I'm just tired of hearing about, just as much as Crosby.

They'll struggle some, but I don't think they'll tailspin. Catch-22 with the injury right now. Thankfully it doesn't look too severe, but stinks that it came at a time when the schedule is really difficult, a lot of back-to-back games, etc. If it were last year with so many injuries, I think it'd be a big concern, but even though the Wings have struggled lately, they are still sitting well in the division/conference, with some cushion to goof up here and there (not that I am advocating for that to happen obviously).

Every team has it's share of fans that are jerks, this team is no exception, even though I root for the LSU Tigers down here to win, I consider a lot of their fan base to really be a bunch of over the top jerks. I know plenty of Saints fans down here that are over the top with things as well, but in general (at least for the Saints), I consider many people down here to be welcoming and friendly, enjoying the company of people and fans from out of town and typically nobody goes overboard to where visitors feel unwelcomed. I know all Blackhawk fans and Chicago fans aren't like this, but it's just a disgrace that Chelios was disrespected by a large majority of people last night just because he played for a rival. And this isn't the first time I've seen or heard of really bad disrespect from Chicago fans. In 2006 when the Chicago Bears went to the Super Bowl, they beat the Saints in the playoffs that year. I didn't travel up for that game, but a few friends/family did, not one story I heard from them, or from people on local talk radio down here was positive. They were not really welcomed or wanted, they were harassed, etc. And it's not like any Saints fans that I know of were looking to start trouble or stuff like that. I hate doing that - basically don't provoke me or give me reason to snap back at you in an angry or negative way when all I want to do is watch the game and mind my own business. It's unfortuantely because I really like the city, went there in April and was the first time I was there in at least 15 years and I loved it. I don't share in some of the disliking of the Blackhawks like some do in here because I'm not from the north (though I think I get it/understand it), I was happy they won the Cup last year partially for Hossa and partially because I have some family ties living up there and one of my friends down here is from Chicago, but for people here who live/have lived there or go there sometimes or whatever, do bad game experiences outweigh the good ones?

Which brings up the question, why are people so focused on a team/city that isn't even playing them in the game at present? Kinda weird/creepy to me and that would certainly make me curious to talk about it...

Bulls**t. People who are hockey fans are well within their rights to voice displeasure about which teams or who is still playing in the event when those people/teams have already played in the event before before a whole lot of other teams, just because of who they are.

Burned 551 calories and 547 calories in two half hour cardio segments yesterday evening and early this morning. 551 in that span is a new personal best for me. Pretty much done with big Christmas parties or food gifts to the office I think so I'm all but back to my normal eating habits.

No, largely because we've played the Penguins two out of the last three years in a playoff series, and I'm just so sick and tired of hearing about Golden Boy every 5 seconds. Nobody's jealous of him, pretty much anybody with half a brain here gets that he's one of the best players in the game today. We're just sick of him getting forcefed to us with his questionable dead whistle/whining/off ice attitude, fair or not. I can't speak for all Red Wings fans or all fans in the league outside of Pittsburgh, but I think it is a good bet that a fair amount of people, while they get how good Crosby is, are sick and tired of hearing about him as well. And you're trying to justify your post to a bunch of Red Wings fans on a Red Wings forum. Are ya kidding me? Use your head. Pretty much everybody here is looks down on the Penguins because of the recent playoff games with them, with Whiny Boy just being constantly fed to us when we don't want it being fed to us anymore, and that Whiney Boy and Pittsburgh are playing in a 2nd Winter Classic when others haven't even come close to an inkling of consideration for it. I get ratings etc., but it's just so incredibly unfair to the other teams, even the ones that might draw decent ratings for the day. EDIT: Now, will a boycott it? Not entirely. I like watching hockey and sports in general, but given how much they'll probably drool over the guy, I'm going to be channel surfing plenty. Going to watch college bowl games more on January 1st and my school is playing in the Rose Bowl that day so it'll be more of watching the other sport on January 1st.

Masks aren't all that creative, but they could be worse. Uniforms to me are actually pretty solid. I do not like powder blue at all, but like more dark/navy blue so I kinda like these that they are using. Hopefully they won't have to use a 3rd set of Winter Classic jerseys anytime soon.

Have I talked about "fans" and stuff in the past? Sure. Point out specific times that you and I specifically argued about such stuff. Provide documentation or sources. I'll be glad to retract or admit I was wrong or whatever, not afraid to do such things. Just a guesstimate actually, but I'm pretty confident that very few or nobody outside of yourself will care that badly. Sure people remember, probably because it's more recent or frequently lately.
