Crosby doesn't suck but he's a whiney little bitch, however.
SouthernWingsFan replied to lookalive07's topic in General
Crosby smells. Yes, I know I am acting like an 8 year old. Yes, I know I am not funny at all. *shrugs* -
Red Wings-Coyotes playoff series all day today and I watched some of it (games 2 and 7, part of game 4). Good stuff.

I don't know if it's the wine I just had, but that last picture scared the bejesus out of me of the funny face!

Groovy, neato, and all those goofy cool words.

Sure. You gotta love the cool goofy high numbers on a jersey.

Sorry, not meant directly for you, although be being the last nimrod to respond to that I could see how it felt that way. Just basically saying that Mondays are always gonna be around. I don't like 'em either but I'm not gonna change it so I'm not going to vent more than necessary about it. Nope, would love to though. The person below me thinks this is funny. (Language Disclaimer )

NHL testing new rules and rink modifications
SouthernWingsFan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I beg of the NHL to get rid of the intent to blow the whistle rule waving off a goal and the phantom interference b.s. Either you blew the whistle before the puck crossed the line resulting in a no-goal, or you didn't resulting in a goal. Interference will always be a judgmental call, I get that, what I want eliminated is if you "interfere" on a goal scored and they waive it off, give the guy a penalty for crying out loud. It has to be a black/white rule, either you interfered or not resulting in 2:00 penalty or not. And while we've seen it happen plenty with Holmstrom, this is a league wide problem. I can remember exactly a time when it helped the Wings, when they won at Chicago late in the season 5-2. Chicago was up 2-0, and it should've been 3-0 on a PP goal but Byfugelin "interfered". While I'm glad the momentum helped the Wings to 5 second period goals there, the "interference" call on Byfugelin was absolutely just terrible. Those two rules I want changed dramatically. I'd also like the trapezoid eliminated, but I won't cry about it if it stays. Other than that, some intersting stuff (no line changes for offsides, 5 shootout players which I've been in favor for from the beginning). -
At present time, this is not significantly better or worse than Lilja. I wanted Lilja back but he might've decided from the very beginning that he wanted out. Can't blame management for not retaining a guy that wants to explore other options if that was his intention.

Not really, Mondays will always be here like every other day of the week, so not much point in obsessively whining about it. The person below me thinks this is funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA4qvETb1vo

Red Wings might opt to keep Ritola at the expense of Miller
SouthernWingsFan replied to DSM's topic in General
In most cases, too much depth is never a bad thing (minus Chicago presently with cap/money). At present time, signing Modano only helps the Wings chances at a Cup. Hopefully we will be able to say this months down the line. I'd love to keep them all, but if you have a chance to get one of the better players at his position throughout his career at a reasonable price, and he is still capable of scoring goals/points at a respectable amount during the final chapter of his career, you go for it. -

Red Wings might opt to keep Ritola at the expense of Miller
SouthernWingsFan replied to DSM's topic in General
Don't want to see Miller go but I understand the logic here as Ritola is still a potential long-term protige. -
If you retire #24, then you got to retire #91, and then eventually #96 and #30. As much as I enjoyed seeing Chelios and Fedorov play here (Probert was before I started seriously getting into hockey, started to watch with a lot more interest starting in 1996 season roughly), and much as I root for Osgood when he gets too much of a bad rap often, and as much as I love having Holmstrom be my favorite player, you're going to have to do a heck of a lot of convincing for them to have their numbers up on the rafters. The only one with a legitimate shot of going up soon over the next few years in #5. (EDIT: In my opinion, not factual obviously)

2001 offseason, nothing will top that getting Hull and Robitaille and Hasek. This offseason is still solid and exciting nevertheless with getting Modano, Lidstrom back for another year, Hudler, etc.

I like 'em, not too shabby. Yes, I get that I'm probably the only one that does.

Chelios is going to coach until he's 90 years old.
