No kidding. If you don't want somebody to be on the team or roster, give reasoning that makes sense. A lot of the reasoning for not wanting him here for the ones that don't want him seem to just be of personal vendettas, or broad paintbrush assumptions that he's too old or whatever. He still produces given his age for the most part. He's certainly a steal at just over a million given he can still produce on a decent basis. He's even more of a steal than Bertuzzi's salary at present and I think he could probably produce more than Bertuzzi. And I'm not sure I'm following that he is a lazy player or whatever. I didn't follow him in-depth in Dallas, but I'm just not sure what basis there is for that. It doesn't seem to make too much sense.

Nobody was ever saying or implying that the world revolved around him.

Right right. At the time of Williams coming back for a 2nd stint here, it was a decent signing and kinda an emergency one to try to replace some offense the year before with Hossa and Hudler leaving. He wasn't going to replace all of it obviously, but hopefully some. And he barely did a thing unfortuantely and just regressed further and further as the season went on (and was injured some). Does he get an unfair rap? Some, but he didn't help his cause much, if at all. I don't blame management for re-signing him at the time, they did the best they could with what was given/options available. Sometimes they don't work out, that's life and business sometimes.

I wasn't one to constantly dog on Williams on here, but this is a Check and Mate post if there ever was one. Williams did butkus here last season, both Bertuzzi and Modano are steals considering salaries, and both are better than Williams even at the closing of their careers. If you don't want Modano here because he's close to retirement and you think he's holding back roster spots from younger guys, cool, that's fine. I strongly disagree with you there, but I see your point. No wanting him becuase you think he's washed up and useless and provides no production is extremely ridiculous when his numbers and output proves otherwise.

Feel for other people. Self obsession and feeling sorry for yourself excessively is not healthy. I'll always be empathetic to people and myself, but eventually you got to suck it up and move on with life. People will always care for you, but they got to live their lives as well. Sorry, little bit off-tangent, that's bascially one of my life themes. Left armpit or Right armpit

Si. The person below me has a boogar in their left nostril presently.

Was contemplating the same thing some yesterday. Unless they somehow just really start to struggle, I think the two locks will be Datsyuk and Hudler. I think one of the other slots could be any form of Bertuzzi, Modano, or Zetterberg. If I were to start it, I'd probably go in the order of... Datsyuk Hudler Bertuzzi Modano Zetterberg Filppula Franzen After that it's just a matter of mixing and guessing I think. I think you can roll the dice fairly equally as you go down the line if need be.

Ah. I stand corrected then.

I don't even know who Justin Biber is (I pay little/no attention to TV outside of local news and sports). The person below me likes to hoot like an owl for no reason whatsoever.

I approve of this (assumed) signing!

Don't get me wrong, Janik played well in his limited time in the big club, but his sample size of judgment is really small, never having a full NHL season under his belt. I mean you're a bit down on Ericsson which is perfectly fine - he played as good as you could've expected a rookie to play in the 2008 lengthy playoff run, and wasn't quite up to snuff in his first full NHL regular season. If the cards fall the way for Janik to be the 6th defenseman, I'd be fairly content. However, you can never have too much depth as stated above and I would love to re-sign Lilja or get a comparable stay at home defenseman if available and have Janik and co. compete for the 7th spot.

Looking promising, but nothing set in stone yet. Waiting to hear it from his truly himself on Thursday or whenever it is.

Sure, but it's not killing me where I'm at. The person below me thinks this is funny.

Chris Osgood will have a GAA of 0.01 and Aaron Downey will score 50 goals!!!

And my point is that nobody would've predicted or guessed those teams to even make the Finals or possibly make the playoffs/advance past the first round. We both have our good points.

Nah, I ran about 14 total miles the past two days outdoors with temperatures around 100 degrees. Body is tired today and I'm staying indoors most of the day. The person below me thinks this is funny.

Yep. Probably very few people would've thought Calgary would've made the Finals in 2004, Edmonton the year after, or Anaheim in 2003, yet they all did and almost won. A bit early to basically ride teams or people off months before a season starts. While Chicago's roster is going to be different obviously, to suggest they aren't contenders is a bit of a reach.

To each his own. All those guys are solid defensemen and I don't care who you are, when you get older your play declines eventually. Lidstrom being a Red Wing all his career though, winning Norris trophies in the past, and not showing too much of a dropoff getting older, there's still nobody else I'd want over him on defense right now. Of course I'll be biased being a Wings fan. If life was up to me, I'd love to have all four of those defensemen at the same time. But doesn't work that way.

Congrats!
