Fans of any team can post in this forum if they abide by the rules and don't troll. I certainly welcome them. And what are we supposed to do now that there are only 2 teams left and the Wings are out? And while I know a good bit of it is in fun, some in here definitely go overboard with the bulls**t of real vs. fake fans given by your own personal lists of criteria which are bulls**t. Just because you make the rules of being a fan doesn't make them true. (generally speaking here, not focusing on anybody in specific) I want to see the Blackhawks win now. Why? The Wings are out, I have some family that live in Chicago and it'd be cool for them to experience, I have a friend who lives down here who is a Hawks fan from Chicago, and I personally don't like Philly sports all that much. If you don't like it, that's your tough luck. Who I want to win or root for does not make me any better or worse of a fan than anybody else in here. So you can take your "You're not a real Red Wing fan" if you root for the Blackhawks or a team that Pronger plays on or whatever thought process and shove it up your rear end.

Woot my favorite player returning, at a slight pay cut!!!

That's fine. It would've been cool to keep him. But getting worked up for just getting a minor-league/NHL fringe defenseman when Leino's trade value was just so ridiculously low at the time of the trade is ridiculous. The trade was never going to net much gain from minute one because Leino's value wasn't much to begin with. Out of "errors" that management makes, this is way down in the bottom of the pile in most glaring or one to "regret".

What are the Pros and Cons of next season?

The Red Wings are lazy and they suck. Yes, that was a joke. Yes, it was a very bad one. 6:15am. Gimme some slack. *shrugs* -
Hasek is like 92 years old for crying out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Self! Silly or Putty

Yes. And I am done beyond getting mad or even talking about it down here. It is what it is sadly, and I can't do anything about it so I'd rather do stuff that makes me happy and laugh. The person below me thinks this is funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvpo24-Nzl4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvpo24-Nzl4

Thanks for adding that. I never once thought about him doing so good for the Wings during his first game span in the regular season in addition to him barely doing anything for the Flyers to start. Funny how people forget that when he started with Philly he wasn't doing much to begin wih either. More power to Leino for looking like he's turned a corner in his career. Do I wish it was for the Wings? Without question it would have been nice. Am I bitter that he's doing it in the Finals with the other team and that Holland let him go? Nope. It'd be one thing to get pissy at management for making a blockbuster trade involving Zetterberg or Franzen for example (even if it was a decent deal), but it was Ville fricken Leino when he couldn't hit the backside of a barn for the Wings. It's Leino's own fault that he couldn't get the job done in Detroit and that he wasn't worth much at the time. Not Holland's. Not Babcock's. Leino's own fault. The whole concept that he wasn't given a fair shake with the Wings or that Holland is a blockhead for doing what he did is just mind-boggling. EDIT: And before somebody comes back at me with, "Well he could've gotten more for him in a trade." Come on now, be realistic, from minute one at the time this trade wasn't going to net much due to Leino not being productive with the Wings. With that in mind, if you ask why do the trade at all then, well - I don't know. That's your deal if you think he should've ultimately been traded or not. It's something Holland felt like he had to do and given how nobody really gave much of a hoot about the trade at the time, it's something I can't really say that he is/was a genious or an idiot over.
-
Fair or unfair, Leino didn't get the job done with his time with the Wings, and that is why he was let go. And he was barely worth anything at the time, so it is stupid to act bitter and like somebody peed in your corn flakes over letting him go. And your logic example is ridiculous because the Wings barely had offense and depth at Franzen's rookie season, he wasn't a offensive juggernaut yet and didn't do anything to justify getting taken out of the lineup given his role. General management definitely makes mistake, if you want to speak in general terms this is one as well. But this is one that I'm not even going to waste a minute of my life getting upset at. Quit being ridiculous. EDIT: Correcting myself, the Wings had offense and the like Franzen's first year to a degree, but he still wasn't quite the scorer yet. Leino has always been or perceived to be a scorer/setup man fair or not.

Everybody gets that people make mistakes. Getting pissed off at management for THIS MISTAKE, when Leino BARELY DID ANYTHING WITH THE RED WINGS, is so stupid and pointless. How hard is it to spell out for some of you? It can't be described any more clearly for y'all. You want me to write it out in crayon with some drawings?
-
I have no ill feelings towards Leino and I am not a slappy in any way and realize everybody makes mistakes, sometimes you guess wrong and the like, but again, HE BARELY DID ANYTHING WITH HIS TIME FOR THE WINGS, and he had plenty of chances to do so with them (i.e. Babcock putting him out for penalty shots/shootouts to get his confidence up), and he failed to do so, fair or unfair. I don't regret him being traded when HE BARELY DID ANYTHING WITH HIS TIME FOR THE WINGS. And what the heck could they have gotten him for in a trade, at the time, when HE BARELY DID ANYTHING WITH HIS TIME FOR THE WINGS? Blaming managment for this is utterly ridiculous. More power to Leino presently and best of luck to him in Philly or wherever else his career takes him.
-
Some people just don't do well for a team and need a fresh start, nothing more/less. You can easily fit the slipper on the other shoe and say people benefited from joining the Wings. Patrick Eaves and Drew Miller are decent recent examples, generally speaking.
-
Really guys? Seriously. More power to him for doing good in Philly right now, I'm happy for him, but HE DID BARELY ANYTHING HERE, henceforth trading him. I don't regret trading him whatsoever since HE BARELY DID ANYTHING HERE. I'm glad he's excelling so far in Philadelphia and am happy for him, but at the pace he was contributing with the Wings, or lack thereof is a better term, he probably wouldn't have even been playing in the playoffs. Blaming Holland for this is beyond stupid when Leino BARELY DID ANYTHING HERE. And Stevie Wonder could've scored that goal in the open net last night, so keep your pants on for pete's sake.

Y'all might as well not watch next season then if we're already going to fail before we start. Good grief. -
I will repeat... HE SIGNED HIM FOR LESS MONEY. You said you aren't in positon to question him. Stop trying so hard to do so and save some brain cells.
-
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.... Because the other team possibly playing better in a series regardless of personnel, bad breaks or a bad call has nothing to do with stuff like that either. Please explain to us how Holland isn't doing his job by bringing one of his best employees, and one of the best employees in an industry for the past 2 decade, back FOR LESS MONEY. I think we'd love to hear this explanation.

One of the best posts in this thread. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2010/06/red_wings_commitment_to_winnin.html He's going to make $6.25 million next season. He made $7.4 million this past season. It would be nice if he played for under $6.25 million but those thinking he should have or demanding it of him to ask for $5 million or below just to play for the beloved Red Wings because it is such an honor are dreaming. You know, you all don't want him to retire. He's not retiring just like you want, but he's still making too much money, and now that's ruining everybody's day. Nothing is ever good enough for some of you. He's already taking a discount. Wake up people and be thankful.
-
He's won 4 Stanley Cups for this team and has given discounts in the past. I think he's done plenty for this team. The disdain over just a few hundred thousand dollars or a million dollars is absolutely insane in here. Some of you all have fricken lost your minds and are so spoiled. You all are being ridiculous.
-
Meh, line combos change all the time. They'll play together some, they'll probably be split up some.

Pronger smells. *shrugs*

Well aren't you a nice little ray of sunshine today...

And Lidstrom doesn't have character? You must be out of your mind.
