There's plenty of parity. When the Wings got upset against Edmonton in the 2006 Stanley Cup playoffs, Edmonton was an 8th seed and all the bottom seeds advanced in the playoffs that year from the Western Conference. I will agree with you that more often than not the Western Conference is better than the Eastern Conference. Not that I necessarily like parity. One way to start getting rid of it is to get rid of the stupid 3-point games that go into overtime. If you lose at any point in a game, 0 points no questions asked.

Honestly, you're getting too hot and bothered by this. Are Crosby threads a decent part of the forums? Yes. Are they irritating? Sometimes, yes. They aren't the only thing going in the forum though, and while I understnad the points you are trying to make with this lengthy post, this lengthy post in its simplicity shows you are making too big a deal out of it and getting too hot and bothered by it. I get irritated sometimes by the 2000th goalie thread or enforcer thread as well, but you know what, there are still other parts of the forum besides these topics, and any rants about them aren't going to change anything. Nobody's stopping you from voicing your displeasure. I'm certainly not. But if this is going to be your mindset any time a discussion comes up about Crosby serious or otherwise, you're probably still going to be angry and frustrated. I really don't want to waste much time being angry and frustrated. So, I'll re-stress again, you're either going to have to deal with it, or not post here anymore or at least in these threads. I'm not trying to sound like an ass or suggest you do one thing or another. I'm basically trying to help you understand that some things are always going to be the way they are in here no matter your or anybody else's displeasure. It's basically up to you how you want to deal with it as a member. However, trying to give people the business by calling everybody a moron doesn't seem like it gets the job done. Now that's funny!

^ This. GordieSid&Ted, Crosby is far from my favorite but I'll be the first to admit that I think plenty get overzealous about him at times. I have some things I don't like in this forum as well. I've spouted off to people like they are morons for it in the past didn't do me any good or stop those threads, so now I might just make a quick point in the thread I might not like and leave, or I avoid it all together. If you don't like it, don't need to go in it, much easier and more healthy solution. Or, make your own sports forum that limits the number of Crosby threads where you have total control over the content. Crosby threads and other threads are going to still go on in here no matter how much you or I or anybody else might bicker about them. This is something that you will not be able to win. You need to accept that some things are just going to be how they are and deal with it if you are going to keep posting here.

More often than not, I typically jump all over people who cannot just accept that their favorite team lost a game or series, simply just didn't play well or the other team was better, whatever. I absolutely can't stand fand paranoia like some external forcers are forcing or wanting the favorite team to lose. I don't waste my time thinking that there is some conspiracy or hidden agenda going to plague my favorite team or just in general, but after seeing the officiating in both the Wings series this year, as well as in general, it wouldn't surprise me. It's more of a product though of the officials just being incompetent overall and some of the just plain idiotic rules out there (intent to blow the whistle, etc.) to where you are going to look like a moron, I don't care how good or bad of a referee you are. And I think officiating is a hard job. I was an official off and on in college for a few club leagues in basketball and soccer. Granted, the pace is obviously slower than professional leagues, but most of the guys out there are athletically competent, played sports in high school, whatever. So the pace is still fairly fast and you can't see everything. However, just seeing some of the stuff I saw in the Wings series alone (PHX high-stick on Lidstrom in game 1 where the refs CONSULTED, they didn't accidentally miss the incident which I can live with sometimes - sometimes you miss stuff, but they CONSULTED whether it was a high stick or deserving of a penalty or not. Also, Sharks flopping in game 2 over and over again and refs barely do squat about it - I don't blame the Sharks for continuing to do it if the refs are going to be incompetent about it) and the officiating throughout the season make me trust the officiating less and less. The Sharks deserve to be in the conference finals, overall they were the better team. It is a shame though that the officials played much more of a hand in determining the outcome of games/the series than necessary. And that's what irritates me so much. I can handle my favorite teams losing - losing is a part of life - I absolutely cannot stand official incompetency and them being more of a factor than necessary. I wish the NHL would somehow take the ideas/practicies of NFL or College football officiating as well. Granted it makes games a bit longer and decreases the fan experience some - but in a lot of situations in football if a call is in question (i.e. did a guy fumble before his knees touched the ground/he got tackled), it can easily be reviewed, so that they get the call absolutely right by video evidence, not just human judgement alone.

Jiri Hudler threads seem to bring out the best in terms of both extremes of people disliking him and overvaluing him. and *sigh* at the same time. I'd love to see 70 points happen for Hudler but that's a bit of a reach me thinks.

Both should have their fair amount of blame. To get this out of the way, and if you want to shoot for saying this, fine, but I'm going to. Between the two, Crosby has accomplished a little more in his career and is the better player so far. Now, with that being said, I can't stand the putz and I'm tired of him being the anointed one as well and him getting way more credit than deserved. Of course he won a gold medal and a Stanley Cup, but plenty want to forget that he had A LOT of help for both. Anyways... Read that Ovechkin had 10 points in 7 games. Hard to get on somebody's case for the blame game with that, at least from looking at it on paper. Granted I didn't watch the Montreal-Washington series with a fine tooth comb, but that final game it seems like there was less drive to the net by Ovehckin, too much shooting from the perimiter, whatever. Obviously the full blame doesn't go on him, but he deserves a share in all likelihood just like all the other Washington players, coaches, whatever. Crosby deserves a fair share of the blame as well. One goal in a 7 game series, that is it. Fleury deserves plenty of blame this series as well. For as good as he usually is in responding to a loss (we unfortuantely witnessed this in games 6 and 7 in the SCF), he can really just let some brainfart goals sometimes, and did it a few times this series and last night. And unless Gonchar was severly injured, he deserves a lot of blame, at least last night. It looks like he didn't care one iota to play last night. Wasn't skating hard, nothing.

Why would we be jealous of Pittsburgh or Crosby? Firstly, we get that we are not always "dominant", but we've made the playoffs nearly 20 years in a row. I think that's fairly impressive. People here want Pittsburgh to lose for a variety of reasons. One, we've played you all in the Cup Finals the past 2 years in a row, kinda obvious due to the rivalry factor. Another big factor is Sidney Crosby. There are plenty of people in here who go off the deep end sometimes with their disliking of him. However, Crosby makes it extremely easy to dislike him for better and worse. I think pretty much every sensible person in here will recoginze that he is one of the best players in the game today, perhaps the best (I'm not interested in debating who is better or not, that's not the point here). However, when things do not go his way or when his team loses, he acts like a little whiney punk way too much. I'm sorry, but he does, and that's being nice. Take the Wings game between Pitt here for instance this season and he basically cross-checks one of our best players for no apparent reason about 20 times in a row at the end of the game, and basically comments that he is shocked that a teammate came to the aid of the guy getting cross-checked. He did the same crap last game against Montreal, just cross checking unnecessarily. And, he was voted by NHL players as the most whinest player in the league in a poll from ESPN. I know ESPN isn't the main source for hockey and the poll or whatever is outdated, but when NHL teammates from across the league vote this, that's got to say something. So why would we be jealous of a guy who we alraedy know is one of the best in the league, but acts like a sour baby with a bad attitude? I'm certainly not. Another factor of the Crosby disliking is the NHL just shoving him down the throats of everybody. Again, I will recognize that he is one of the best players in the game today and that he should be known to fans and the like. I don't need to hear about him every 5 seconds though and I'd like to see a lot more players and teams marketed. Not just Crosby and Ovechkin alone. Variety. This is not Crosby's fault, but he's the main guy being marketed so that makes it easier to root for the head honcho to fail. The final factor is how Pittsburgh got good by playing subpar hockey in recent years and benefiting from high draft picks. Personally, that doesn't bother me, good on Pittsburgh for lucking out and using their picks wisely. It's not against the rules so I'm not going to be jealous or bitter about that, but plenty of people are, and I don't fault them for that. And losing to the biggest choke artists of all time is a bit of a stretch. They are presently the top team in one of the conferences, and I wouldn't call a team making a conference final a choke artist all that much.

It wouldn't be shocking if it was a factor. Not trying to make excuses, but it's something that in all likelihood is part of the equation obviously. And for better/worse, a lot of these guys have to be politically correct in all likelihood so they don't get "fined". If they didn't, you'd hear a lot more bitching and anger. *cough* referees are terrible *cough*
