I have typical in-game nerves during the playoffs, but have come to accept that the odds, both before and after last night's game, are still not in the Wings favor. Yeah it sucks, but that's the situation presently. Of course they can/might rally to stretch the series, but the odds still are not good. So in-between games I'm not all that nervous right now. If they bowed out after 4 a part of me would've been pretty disappointed how they just really screwed the pooch in game 3, but would've also been happy and proud that they got this far given all the injuries and the like. I am happy that the team didn't just roll over and die last night just to hand San Jose the series, even if they do get eliminated in game 5. If it goes to a 6th or 7th game though, I might be more nervous.

Nicely stated. Howard obviously doesn't get exempted from a share of the blame, but this team down the stretch was fighting tooth and nail for a playoff spot and he did little/nothing to justify getting taken out for a consistent period of time. Definitely not Howard's fault solely and, all things remaining the same this playoff series, I highly doubt putting in Osgood would've resulted in much difference, if any as I stated above. Howard cannot control awful officiating and his defense breaking down in front of him. Whether that was fair or not to Osgood during the regular season is entirely subjective. I definitely wish he could have played a few more games but I understand the situation and Babcock's line of thought, whether we think he and Osgood get along or do not. We do not know and will never know. Don't fully agree with him but I hardly come close to fulling blaming him either. It's nobody's fault 100% like mentioned above, just a crappy situation to be in to where we didn't have the luxury to have both goalies have the same amount of starts roughly because we didn't wrap up a postseason birth by the new year yet.

While I wish Osgood could have played more over time, Howard has rarely been the main problem of playoff losses, and only real bad game was the last one. Switching to Osgood probably would not have changed much.

Right right. In sudden death though, unless it's really there and open, just doesn't make sense to pinch/be overly aggressive IMO when the last goal decides everything. Don't want bad odd man rushes like what happened. Williams does have to hit the net but at the same time, missed shots completely happen more so even though it is our favorite whipping boy, I can live with a shot completely missing the net from a long ways away more often than not.

Long term, Ericsson is better than Lebda for the team IMO, but short term/immediately after last game, surprised that Ericsson wasn't scratched for pinching so much on the OT goal.

Still averaging a point per game which is not too shabby at all. In all seriousness though, it is a pain in the rear to come back from. Remember when Jiri Fischer tore his ACL in 2003 (?) In most of 2004 it wasn't his year, he often struggled, and I think he was even scratched for a game or two in the playoffs. I tore my ACL and MCL playing pickup basketball back in college and had reconstructive surgery on it over 6 years ago, while it doesn't inhibit me from doing anything, I'm pretty much done with contact sports the rest of my life and if I go for a lengthy run/jog or workout or whatever, I'm usually limping for a few minutes after the workout. Hell, when I used to play golf after the surgery, I'd be limping after a while. The knee will never be the same.

Howard is still in the net because Osgood has barely played in the past 3-4 months and Howard did little/nothing to suggest getting yanked over that period on a consistent basis. Whether you think it is right/wrong is entirely subjective, but this is Howard's team now. He's either going to be the one to miraculously bring this team out of 50 feet of rubble, or he's going to go down in flames like the rest of the team quickly. I knew there was a reason you are so smart! LOL! I've never been more convinced you will not be a goalie coach.

Yes, yes 1000 times yes please. With that being said, it was not Williams' fault we lost in overtime even though that's popular belief given it is Williams. He can't help it if defensemen pinch beyond absurd levels unnecessarily.

Of course the Wings CAN win the series. It is slim/none that they WILL win the series though. I'd love to be wrong but it is all but over. If they can somehow force it up to game 6 I might change my tune a bit.

As pitiful as the officiating has been this series and this game as well, teams do this all the time and it doesn't justify a penalty. The Wings themselves blew this game, not external forces.

Howard wasn't a main issue of the Wings losing until last game. No logical reason he should've been pulled after game 2. Could definitely put Osgood in for game 4 after Howard's showing last night, but it's not like it's going to matter. Series is all but over. Howard's been the man between the pipes, he either needs to miracally help pull this team out of 50 feet of crap, or go down the tubes like the rest of the team. I vote for Osgood remaining out. Not because of Osgood, of course he's capable. It's Howard's team right now to sink or somehow miracally rise above.

The team, the referees to a degree, and the terrorists definitely 100%. Terrorists suck.

There aren't seven games if you can't get to them all. I would love to be proven wrong but unless this team just completely pulls their heads out of their rear ends regarding defense and holding a lead, this season is all but over.

Well, the officiating stunk once again for the most part, but the Wings have nobody to blame but themselves for this loss. Sure, you can say that if Zetterberg's "kicked in" goal means the Wings would've won with all things staying the same, but it should not have even come to that. No reason why the Wings shouldn't have closed this won out in normal time having a 2 goal lead in the last period.

I get how difficult it was to get here with injuries and the like so that is a good feat in itself, but I don't think it's too much to expect or not ask to screw up a 2-goal lead in your most important game of the season.

Would love to be proven wrong but the season is all but over.
