Ah. Don't really follow the NBA much, even with the Hornets being the local team down here in NOLA. But that's neither here/there. Same here with tonight. When the Sharks made it 3-2 and the Wings barely put any pressure on them after that, my mood was like the body language you just described. I was getting more doubtful as the game went on.

Blowing a 2-goal lead in the final period of a game is also s**t that happens too that should not, but it did... I'm proud of what this team done to get this far and I'm always going to be a Wings fan, but there is no excuse for blowing this game tonight. And save your schtick about being a true vs. a fake fan. It's retarded. I would love to be proven wrong and the Wings win 4 straight. Of course it is possible. I will hope that it happens and be eagerly watching the next game Thursday. But it is slim/none and the season is all but over.
-
It may be entirely possible and it is a factor, but it's not an excuse to blow a 2-goal lead in the final period of a game.

You aren't going to get much positive pub from this. Sure overall the Wings have had a good season with all they've been threw, but when they play mediocre, not a full 60 minutes, and blow a game like this when it counts most when they have shown they are more than capable of beating anybody with as close to a 60 minute effort as possible, there should be no satisfaction in that. The Wings screwed this one up, not external forces. Yes you lose in life and will lose games. But I'm not satisfied and will not be satisfied with half assed played and mediocrity when it counts most, blowing a game like this one. Series and season is all but done.

Could be time now, but it's not really going to matter. This series and the season is all but over.

Congrats!!!

K... I can play numbers too and spin them the way I want to as well. Just look at the percentages of this poll. Which probably suggests that Howard's play has not been the main problem and placing Osgood over him probably might not have changed all that much if all things relatively stayed the same these past 2 games. It's pretty damned hard to stop pucks every time when you're left out to dry on a 5-on-3 or on a 3-on-1. Whether you are Osgood or Howard. It's not his fault when a stick of his teammate's breaks leading to a rush or the referees decide to just be totally incompetent for nearly the entire game. Regardless of how numbers and stats are thrown out in any scenario, it doesn't change that Howard hasn't done anything to strongly consider getting yanked to the bench.
-
Yep. As pitiful as I thought the Sharks were acting/playing with the diving around, why stop doing it if the referees are going to be incompetent and not prevent it either? I do believe in the "If you're not cheating you're not trying" deal to a certain degree, but I thought the Sharks went overboard with it. As angry as both the refs and the Sharks made me Sunday though, I don't blame them whatsoever for flopping more than once if it helped their cause.
-
I highly doubt anybody is taking away from Osgood's recent past performances, so not much need to divulge into numbers there saying one goalie is better than the other. Presently though, it is Howard's job and he has not been the problem/main problem on this team in losses (sans Phoenix game 4 perhaps) and we're basically smacking the few upside the head who think Osgood should be starting next game. Not because of Osgood, of course he is capable, but because Howard really hasn't done much to justify yanking him to the bench.

Thank you. Thank you 1000 times. You guys definitely got jobbed on a call/two on Marleau and Heatley. I'll make that clear right now so I don't sound like a completely bitter homer and am trying to see things both ways. Yes I am a Red Wings fan, but Sunday's game was one of the worst officiated games I have seen in a long, long while in any sport. And you guys flopped like fish most of the game. I know you're a fan of them, but I'm sorry, they did. No. We are hating the referees for being absolutely incompetent. There is no agenda against the Red Wings to purposefully screw them, but we've seen our fair share of NHL officiating being incompetent in past playoff/regular season games. This was probably the worst game I have seen from them in a long while. I'd rather the Sharks beat us (and preferably by not diving over and over again), not the referees. The referees all but handed you all that game on Sunday. That the officials were garbage and played had more of an effect than necessary in determining the outcome of the game. That's neither here/there and it doesn't change the fact that I saw a lot more flopping around from the Sharks than the Red Wings.

Did Bettman Say His Officials Actually Make Mistakes!
SouthernWingsFan replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Doesn't seem that way unfortuantely that he admitted they made mistakes. Just predictable from him, dodging questions and saying something along the lines of they have a hard job we have great refs, etc. Well you know what? Everybody's job is hard. I don't get what is so damned difficult in admitting you made mistakes. Nobody's perfect. I'd rather people come to me and say they screwed up or my bad instead of trying to cover things up. I will not hold it against you if or think less of you tell me the truth. -
I'm convinced.

The real reason we are losing this series...

I blame the terrorists. -
You're nuts. Good luck convincing the majority on here that this is true.
-
Seconded.

Sorry, I just don't care to watch the replay especially of a game that was so poorly reffed. I don't play hockey and I already know how pitiful the Sharks diving was. It cannot be that challenging to stay on your feet/skates most the time.

Nah. The person below me can say breakfast biscuit really fast 10 times in a row.

Yeah I'll still watch. As pathetic as the officiating was last night, I'm still a hockey fan first/foremost after being a Wings fan. I simply just like watching hockey and sports so I'll keep on at it.

I rarely get bitter when my favorite teams lose. Losing is a part of life in sports, it is inevitable sometimes, I rarely act mad or angry if my team itself plays like junk or whatever. Sometimes, you simply get beaten or outplayed. However I cannot stand when officials in any sport are incompetent and play much more of a hand in a game result when they need to. I am a Wings fan, yes, but regardless last night's game was one of the worst officiated games I have seen in any sport in a long, long time. I usually don't get too high/low emotionally during games, but last night was the first time I yelled at my TV over and over again in god knows how long. I rarely lose my temper at sports. The Wings play had nothing to do with that. The officiating was downright AWFUL. Just to get it out of the way first to show I'm not acting like a complete homer, penalty calls on Marleau for "boarding" and whatever Heatley did were pretty piss poor, and there is no conspiracy or people out to get the Wings or whatever. But Bertuzzi had 2 or 3 penalties for essentially playing hockey (basically saying I have no clue what he did to deserve penalties), there were plenty of other bogus calls all around. Plus, your team flopped around like a bunch of fish last game. The amount of diving the Sharks got away with was absurd. You all should consider yourselves lucky you won last game with the amount of flopping around you got away with and how incompetent the officials were overall. If the Sharks beat the Red Wings, fine. All I ask for is for officials to not play a larger hand than necessary in determining a game. Last night, they did not. They didn't even come close. If you want to call me bitter from this, have at it. I'm very bitter at the officiating being total rubbish last night, not at the Red Wings losing.
-
It definitely wouldn't hurt, but it's not of utmost importance IMO right now. The Wings are scoring goals for the most part, and should be scoring enough. Capitalizing on special teams just a bit more, and unfortunately hoping not to be pipe-jobbed by the officials are the main issues right now.
-
LAUGH OUT LOUD. I'm going to LAUGH OUT LOUD again at this. I'd hardly consider giving up a 5-on-3 goal in a goalmouth scramble and a 3-on-1 goal rush immediately after one of your player's stick unfortunately breaks, soft. I know I'm going to regret asking, but what isn't a soft goal to you then? Or is this all about trying to find any warped reasoning to put Osgood in when Howard's play really isn't the main issue to worry about right now?
-
Nope. The person below me wants to beat the crap out of anything with stripes right now.
