I'm eating Crow for Breakfast
SouthernWingsFan replied to Behind Enemy Lines in CO's topic in General
^ This. It's irritating on both sides - rubbing it in people's faces over and over again saying "I told you so" in a condescending manner, or not admitting that you were incorrect. Nobody's going to give a hoot if you were wrong, you look more stupid if you disappear and don't admit to your faults. With most things and this, I try to take a middle of the road approach. I've seen so much happen in hockey and other sports in my life that either result wouldn't have shocked me. I was definitely confident that the Wings could win the game if they played as close to a complete game as possible, but we've definitely seen otherwise at times, and who knows which team would've shown up. So obviously I had some doubt, so I'll fess up that I was wrong to a degree. -
Let it go in most situations, not worth arguing over and over again with an idiot. Although I'm an idiot sometimes too... *shrugs* Weirder phrase... Buck the kicket or Shilk Sirt

I don't eat grapes so it doesn't matter. The person below me thinks this is funny to both the cartoon situation and other team's situation.

Accidental or not, in Yandle's position there, that seemed pretty easy to avoid. I know you're frustrated after your team gave up a goal, but not a wise move by his part. As for the refs missing it, what can ya do, it's over and done with regarding that. Maybe the front office will take a look at it and discipline Yandle if necessary. Also a big to whoever through the bottle on the ice during game play. I hope he/she had a swift exit. As for "class", I'm so sick and tired of hearing or seeing that word thrown around in here, trying to justify that our fans are oh so better than fans of Phoenix or other teams or whatever and that we'd never behave like that. It's stupid and a bunch of b.s. Every team has their a'hole fans who go overboard. Two idiotic displays by Yandle and the bottle throwing fan shouldn't label the entire Phoenix organization/fan base.

Easy. If the goalie was a steel wall covering the entire net, it'd be stopped. That'd be kinda cool, but illegal I think presently.

Officiating - A Completely Different Perspective
SouthernWingsFan replied to toby91_ca's topic in General
Every team is going to have their nutjob fans, we certainly have some in here that go over the top screaming "ZOMG conspiracy against the Wings" or "The refs are against us!" Does the officiating stink sometimes? Yes, without question. Wings got jobbed some this series (i.e. no penalty for Lidstrom getting high-sticked in game 1, bogus slashing of the stick call in game 2 where the Phoenix player pretty much dropped the stick), but pretty much every team will at some point in a game/series, and the officiating wasn't all that bad I don't think overall. The officiating stinks sometimes but overall, more often than not, my beef is with the rules. It's impossible not to be an idiot sometimes when you have stripes on when some of the rules currently in place are so loosely defined and it's not clearly black and white. I get irritated at the officiating sometimes but I don't like to spend my whole day finding excuses why they are up to no good, how they're going to screw my favorite team over, whatever. -
Bertuzzi 's when he sees this.

Kinda, don't like it overdone. The person below me thinks the phrase "Would you like some fries with that?" would be pretty weird to say in a sexy erotic voice.

Not sure exactly what he's complaining about? Octopi tossing is fairly routine in the playoffs if the Wings are doing good/winning. I'm not even close to going into who's fans are better/worse and all the crap, it's a bunch of pointless validating bulls**t, but as long as you aren't hurting people or acting over the top vulgar towards others ruining the fan experience, I don't give a damn what you do.

It's pretty much a given that Kovalchuk signing here would be a pipe dream without even having to throw numbers and figures out. Would love to have him, but it's slim/none possible.

That's the spirit!!!

Sweet, welcome back Hudler. Produced very well for his limited ice time. Hope there's a way that the Wings can both keep him and Bertuzzi.

Report: Hudler released from Moscow Dynamo
SouthernWingsFan replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Didn't seem to disappear in the playoffs in 2008 when it counted most. Remember SCF game 4 perhaps? Had a respectable 2009 playoffs. Just two full playoff seasons so far and he's been solid. Again, not saying he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but if he underperforms, so do a majority of the NHLers with postseason experience. You are getting a wee bit ridiculous in undervaluing him. -
Nah. Just straight beer or wine, don't like mixes typically. The person below me thinks this is funny.

I have no idea who this Armstrong guy is, but scoring near;y 60 points in pretty limited time in a season is quite impressive. And a post I read that Hudler is invisible in the playoffs is absurd. He's not the greatest thing since sliced bread but if he "disappears" in the playoffs, so do a lot of other NHLers in the postseason not named Zetterberg, Crosby, etc. Not wanting him on the team is one thing but don't sound like he is this awful player. -
Not sure why a petition would be needed for this, just cheer.

I wouldn't boast or rant so much, as terrible as NHL officiating can be sometimes, Wings fans in here sometimes go beyond paranoia in conspiracy theories.

Report: Hudler released from Moscow Dynamo

And you make it out like it is an absolutely terrible thing, which it is not always the case, and it isn't in this one. He wanted to try to get more playing time elsewhere and improve his career. And got offered more money to do so. Loyalty is a great and honorable trait, but in any career or profession, sports or otherwise, would you not strongly consider doing the same? Everybody is a selfish person by default to some degree. More power to Hudler for taking a chance. It didn't quite work out for him. Sometimes those are the breaks. If you don't want him on the team solely because you don't think he helps them on the ice, that's one thing. Implying that he is a greedy punk or an a'hole for bolting or whatever is another story all together and pretty ridiculous. -

Have you been watching the playoffs this year so far with Vancouver? Even just checking out the box scores seeing how much he contributes? (or is my sarcasm detection crappy this morning?) As for Samuelsson, he unfortuantely fell into whipping boy status, which more often than not means a lot of the things that might not have been his strengths, they were going to be overblown into him being one of the worst players in the world. Never thought he was as bad as was overdramatized in here At his salary last year, he was a steal for 2nd/3rd line minutes and chipping in on the PP every now and then. Would I have liked him back? Of course, but I'm glad he's excelling elsewhere with a little bit more time and a raise, he's proving he deserves that raise.
