Report: Hudler released from Moscow Dynamo
SouthernWingsFan replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Bingo on the bolded. Hudler isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread, and at the time with him and Samuelsson and Hossa leaving, the signing of Williams was a decent one to hopefully fill some respectable percentage of the goal scoring void. I think now though for Williams with him being scratched, the writing is on the wall that he might not be re-signed. Never say never until it actually happens, but he hasn't done enough to impress overall I think. Who knew back then we'd be missing Hudler and Samuelsson as much in terms of goal scoring? More often than not, I'm all about giving people second chances in life if they do their time, are willing to learn from their mistakes, whatever. And I'm talking about doing stuff much worse than this. Never forget, but you have to move on in life sometime. Hudler seems to have? Wings management seems to have, people around him who he works with probably have as well. Why can't you? If this is deterrent if/when he returns to Detroit, it will be handled properly. Until then, quit being so proud and let's give him his chance if he returns to the Wings. -

I hear he's one helluva partyer! -
Normally I'd be with you, but Zetterberg and Datsyuk together this year hasn't actually been all that great overall, and it's not like the separate lines have just gone bone dry in production these three games. Other than Abdelkader's goal, I think all the scoring so far has come from Datsyuk and Zetterberg's lines. Offense isn't so much the problem like now, it's more a combination of bad defense and backbreaking goals.

^ This above. I haven't read the posts in this thread, probably don't want to because of natural pissiness after a favorite team losing a playoff game and the nutjobs who are completely against Osgood without much logic whatsoever. If Howard played awful that'd be one thing, but I think it's too early to pull the plug on him. He's given up some goals (last goal irritated me - the brainfart between him and Krownall was upsetting obviously but those things happen to the best of people sometimes) but it's not like he's been absolutely dreadful. Like with past goalies, of course it helps if they steal a game/two, but in losses usually it's a combination of fault of them and shaky defense. Can't fully blame Howard, can't fully let him off the hook either. If he lets in a deflating goal or two in the next game early, I say make the switch. I have all the confidence in Osgood given what he has accomplished in the recent past postseasons, even though his pads are probably filled with dust right now from inactivity. Right now though, this is Howard's still. Howard Osgood

Bertuzzi's been fine for the most part. Wish he could be the player he was in the Vancouver days, but whatever, those days have gone by. He's been playing more physical/mucking it up so far this series for the most part. As for the Moore incident, that's like what, 50 years ago? It happened, he f'ed up, he realized he did, he apologized balling like a little kid saying he's sorry for what he did, there's nothing more he can do. Don't forget obviously but he's moved on from it mentally it seems, not sure why some fans cannot.

Report: Hudler released from Moscow Dynamo
SouthernWingsFan replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Loyalty is a great thing to have, but most people who work in professional sports are no different than us. Of course you want to perform well for your employer at the time, but if you think you can improve your career making more money, most of us are going to do so. Nothing wrong with being selfish to a degree and watching out for your own best interests. And sometimes that requires working in a different city/area. This is no different and Hudler didn't leave on bad terms whatsoever. -

Report: Hudler released from Moscow Dynamo
SouthernWingsFan replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
I love the people calling him a greedy a'hole. If you had the opportunity to improve your career elsewhere by possibly improving your talents and making more money, you'd do the same, regardless of your line of work. Hockey/professional sports is no different for a large majority of the people who work there. Of course they want to do good for the team they work for and their employers at the time, but you are going to be selfish by default and possibly go for a better opportunity elsewhere if it presents itself, it's natural. Only reason why people are getting in a tizzy over this is because it is their favorite professional sports team. Hudler did what he think he needed to do to improve his career and earn more money in the process. Good for him. Didn't quite work out. Loyalty to an employer is a great and honorable thing, but sometimes you need to take chances though and no reason to hold him against that. Wouldn't mind having him back here, he did very well in his defined roles here more often than not as a PP specialist and typically 3rd-line time. -
Looks worse than what it was. I saw zero intent of whacking him with the elbows or anything like that. Bottom line is Leopold needed to keep his head up.

Predators sign on to stay in Nashville until at least 2012
SouthernWingsFan replied to commadore183's topic in General
This. Other than Tootoo, I like their organization. I like that they've been willing to keep their coach for such a lengthy period, which rarely happens in sports at all. The one time I drove up to Nashville for a game, even though it was the 8-0 game they got clobbered in, I enjoyed the atmosphere and the area. -
Oops, sorry.

Doesn't matter to me. I typically tune out broadcasters and just watch the game, regardless of station. I'll go with Versus though since they also broadcast football and sports in the conference that my alma mater plays in. Spoon or Fork

I use that phrase sometimes so I laugh at it. The person below me is much cooler than I am.

Franzen's a bit snake bitten right now I think, but it's not like he isn't involved and the Datsyuk line which he is on is stinking up the joint. The line has netted in both games so far and Franzen has two assists/point per game. Of course we want him to rue the goal scoring department but all things considered with his injury and the like, he's doing all right.

The verdict is still out on whether San Jose is a different team. A tied series just 2 games into a best-of-7 series in the first round of the playoffs is a bit too early to determine this.

I dislike Crosby like plenty in here but come on people, cross checks happen all the time, and Ruutu embellished to a degree. Only reason this is being yapped about is because it's you-know-who.
