No doubt about it, I'm with you. I rarely like it either, but it's part of the forums for better/worse so just gotta deal with it.

Well, I'm not one to be incredibly familiar with a lot of NHLers around the league, but it's not hard to figure out why this is a pretty absurd idea. Howard proved his worth this year getting more playing time and it's hard to think he won't at least share time with Osgood/any other goalie years down the road as his career goes on. Slim/none that he will be a backup anymore after this season. I don't see how Price or Halak are that significantly better than Howard to justify a trade for them.

Not in the slightest. Because he barely did anything here and people have their whipping boys. I don't play that game and wish him nothing but the best, but Leino did very little/nothing to help his cause, so the whipping boy status is more than justified. Just because it is one of your favorite players doesn't make it any more wrong than other players who might fall victim to this.

Don't consume either so no preference, but mango sounds more unique so I'll go with that. Roadrunner or Coyote

Putting Flipper on Zetterberg's line kinda put a monkey wrench in the 3rd and 4th lines, if we're talking about each line having just 1 center. Overall, I think Flipper-Zetterberg-Bertuzzi is working out all right. If they remain together, I honestly think you could interchange either Draper or Cleary with Helm and Eaves. Both are solid defensively, and Cleary has more offensive upside. With Helm's speed and hopefully him and Eaves contributing a goal here/there, it could hopefully turn into somewhat of a secondary scoring line consistently. I'm all for keeping them together. With Draper-Miller-Williams, it's neither a great/bad line, I just wish Williams could get going. He hasn't been awful by any stretch, but hasn't contributed much to the scoresheet lately.

In the grand scheme of things, doesn't matter to me because the Wings have shown they are capable of beating anybody on a consistent basis if they play as close to a 60-minute game as possible. Selfishly, Chicago because I'll be going up there around the 3rd weekend of April/this month.

Good for Chicago. Nothing wrong with celebrating a division title when you haven't won it in a good bit. It's a good feat for them and an organization that is improving to be more competitive on a consistent basis. Looks like they are getting closer and closer to that point. Let them have their fun and let them enjoy the moment. And on a selfish note, while I want the Wings to keep winning, part of me will giggle if they fall back to the 7th seed as I'll be in Chicago for a few days around the 3rd weekend of April/this month.

And you edited to specifically say "poll only" pretty much while I was making my post in there. So giving me crap about it is pretty unfair given that we were doing our schticks in this thread more/less at the same time. And I apologize for interpreting it the wrong way, but it's hard to interpret emotions/mood online sometimes.

Definitely, in the grand scheme it comes down to winning. And presently, Howard gives them that best chance. But you have to consider those factors you briefly stated to basically not just say ZOMG BLAME OSGOOD OR ZOIKES OSGOOD STINKS! They are natural factors that effect a game any goalie. Bingo. Howard is all but starting in the playoffs. It's pretty much a given now. Now that a playoff spot is secured though and the Wings aren't going to change much in terms of the standings, Osgood needs some game time to get back into some groove and be prepared, as the backup, just in case something bad goes on with Howard.

I don't think the issue is anymore is if Osgood is the permanent #1 starter. I highly doubt anybody would dispute that. My guess is that hopefully it would've been that way at the beginning of the year to let Howard get his feet wet more/less, but there were factors like subpar play all around from the team, injuries, injuries/flu (?) to both goalies I think at times, and Howard took the opportunity and ran with it. Good for him and it's all but apparently he'll be starting in the playoffs, which I have no problem with. I think in a perfect world though this season you would've seen Osgood get more starts with Howard maybe playing something like 2/5 of the games or whatever, or the goalies splitting equal time roughly where a playoff spot was already settled early. The world is not perfect though.

And this is a forum to express points and opinions. You can do that in whichever thread you want related to the topic at hand as long as you aren't personally attacking somebody and doing it within the forum rules, bro. Including this one.

No. Unless Osgood develops an attitude problem or there's money issues (which I doubt either will happen), I want him to stay and retire as a Wing, whenever he wants to. He's dedicated a good bit of his career to this organization and is just so underappreciated overall. If Howard is the starter for good from now on out, next season, whatever, that's perfectly fine with me, I try not to show extreme pro or negative bias towards players. I just hate (and laugh at) when people say athletes are done, are scrubs, whatever else overdramatic when it is clearly not true. Osgood is far from done, I just want to see him get 400 wins and retire as a Red Wing, whether he plays 50 games in a season or just 15 in a season or whatever.

No doubt, which is why I tried to stress that he slowly got better as the game continued. And hoping that it shows sense to some of the Osgood lunatics that seems to blame everything on just him. Defense was bad as well. He had little/no chance on any of them after his first brainfart.
