Night Train - James Brown
-
Subjective. You cannot state this as fact since he did not play in the game, so we do not know if this could or would have happened. Now, did Osgood play good? Not particularly. Neither did the entire team when it came to defense. Osgood rebounded fairly well as the game went on though, as did the defense too. BOTH Osgood AND the defense didn't play all that well the entire game. If Osgood revoltists want to construe this as me being an Osgood apologist, knock yourselves out if it makes you feel better despite it not being true. I cannot be anymore clearer in saying twice that Osgood didn't play all that great.

Woo hoo! 19 years in a row! :chug: :beerbuddy: Wait, this isn't a blueadams line combo thread, hold the drinks.
-
It has less to do with Osgood and more to do with Howard. When Osgood went down with the flu in December, coaching staff had no choice but to put Howard in for a stretch of games, and he took the opportunity and ran with it. And this season, the Wings didn't have the luxury of already wrapping a playoff spot up early, so they couldn't rotate goalies for the sake of rotating them. With Howard playing so well when he got more time, it was hard justifying taking him out.

I don't think the Wings have lost 4 games in their past 10...
-
Nobody seems to have a problem with it on the team, Osgood seems to support Howard, it's not a distraction. Not worth reading between the lines into unless we hear something otherwise, which I doubt we will.

How do you know where they will be seeded? The game hasn't even been played yet. Nobody is on Osgood's nuts, nobody in their right mind thinks he is going to start in the playoffs. The only people that are exaggerating in here are the people that have an obsessive disliking of him. Everybody else, whether they are big Osgood fans or indifferent, are carrying on like normal here. I'm not going to get into the whole are you a fan debate thing. You all claim you are Wings fans. That's fine, I'm not going to argue that. Wanting somebody to fail though that plays on your favorite team - when he's dedicated a good bit of his career to one organization and doesn't have an attitude problem or is a jackass - is just embarrassing and pitiful though. That's how some of you are acting regarding this. Absolutely pitiful. I will never understand the obsessive Osgood disliking from some people in here.

It was upsetting, I was more sour than mad or anything. Overall I was all right though, life goes on and I typically put things behind me like that fairly quickly. I also didn't have as much disliking for Crosby as I do now though, it's built over time, so if I see him raise the Cup again though, I might be a bit more irritated.

Ok...

Certainly possible, I think though it'll have to involve more of hoping Phoenix to play bad. If they play good these last few games, the Wings best hope for seeding would probably be 5th I think.
-
I don't see anybody saying that he should be starting in the playoffs lately, so you are just exaggerating and being really stupid. What the heck did Chris Osgood do to you personally in the past life to deserve the treatment he gets? Watching hockey when he was playing does not count. Did he make fun of you in high school or steal your lunch money or something? Seriously...

Either I'm fine with, but a mailbox card means a bit more IMO. Dollar Bill or 4 Quarters

Nope. The person below me is curious to know what kinda weird video I'll post next.

How do you know? The game hasn't even been played yet. Anyways, not shocked that this has happened. Howard basically did nothing to suggest he should be taken out for a few games while the Wings were fighting tooth and nail for points and a playoff spot. He's young, so I don't see much signs of wearing out or whatever. And it has very little to do IMO with Osgood and moreso with Howard playing so well. Now that a playoff spot is getting closer to being wrapped up, it's time to "experiment" more or less and give Osgood a few games. I would've been fine if Babcock continued to ride Howard even more given that he's not worn out and I'm part of the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" camp, but if Osgood was going to play, 1 of these back to back games was probably going to be it.

They've both been playing all right.

Meh, bad games like this happen to pretty much every goaltender, good or bad, every once in a while.

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. Every team in every city has bandwagoner fans. That's not good, that's not bad, it just is what it is. People are going to typically pay attention to a team when it wins more, whether they know the players or know what is going on or not. When they lose, they'll probably watch less. Natural. Just because we might be more knowledgable or smarter doesn't make us "better" than bandwagoners who might not know their stuff. Let them have fun and enjoy the games and seeing a winning product (if that is what they are seeing).

Cut ties? Not in the slightest...

Not in the office/job, but I got plenty I'll be doing at my house for most of the day. The person below me thinks that dying by running into a turtle is a pretty silly concept (Super Mario Bros video game - Mario accidentally running in a Koopa Troopa )

Was taught and raised on PCs, so PC. This... OR This...

I think we should call them the Detroit Ice Wings for the time being, because the game is played on ice, and it just sounds cool and hip. *shrugs* And a big to betterREDthandead for putting the effort in to make an April's Fool joke, whether you think it was a good one or not.

I was pretty shocked it was reversed. It look like he slightly kicked at it. I thought it was similar to Stuart's goal on Tuesday to where there was nothing absolutely conclusive to suggest something else that happened to overturn the call. I was pretty confident that Stuart's goal was going to stand because it was initially called that way and it was too close to call. I was not confident that Bertuzzi's goal was going to stand because it was initially called a no goal and it was an iffy decision as well. Ah well, they owe us after we got shafted against Dallas (twice). As for Bertuzzi, still frustratingly inconsistent at times, but I hope the Flipper-Zetterberg-Bert line stays together for a bit. I didn't think it would work well but I'm gladly being proven wrong.

I'd welcome Hudler back simply for goofy looks like this (or these )

The Detroit Octopi, or Stingrays. I'm down with that. I like where this thread is going!
