Sometimes, but usually not. The person below me would also be pretty grouchy if they lived in a trash can like Oscar the Grouch.

Good thing we don't have any Ernie's on the team to drive him nuts when he's trying to sleep or read a book!

Does this year prove that hockey doesnt belong in phoenix?
SouthernWingsFan replied to wmubronco420's topic in General
I was in Phoenix right at the beginning of January for other purposes but lucked out when the Wings were playing there on Jan. 2nd and I was there from Jan 1st - 4th or 5th, so I went. I believe they sold out completely that game. Part possibly due to the Red WIngs being a popular name in general, and you'd hope there'd be a decent factor of Phoenix being good contributing to the high attendance as well (I believe they were either 3rd or 4th in the conference at the time). The atmosphere was good, I enjoyed it. The arena is right across the street from where the Arizona Cardinals play, in Glendale, probably at least a 30 minute drive from the downtown area. The area itself is a nice suburb of Phoenix, but toher than the stadium/arena and some immediate restaurants/shops, there really isn't much in the immediate area. One might wander if they'd do a bit better with attendance in downtown Phoenix (where the Suns and Diamondbacks play), which is only probably a 10-15 drive from the airport, if that. Pretty much everybody likes a winner, it doesn't matter where they are located. If they can consistently become a competitive team and make the playoffs with some consistency, it'll probably rise to a degree. While I'm not familiar with attendance figures, I would guess that Nashville is a good example. They've become a respectable club over the past few seasons in terms of results and have made the playoffs off/on recently, I would think attendance is pretty decent there. Winning definitely isn't the only factor, but it helps obviously. -
Not sure what Lilja has to do with the topic at hand here... And Lilja overall has been pretty good since coming back from injury, all things considered. I wander if we're watching the same games...

Jiri Hudler threads always turn hilarious on here. So many people either overvalue or undervalue his worth here. Ridiculous pissing matches galore when his name comes up.

Nope, never have thankfully. The person below me thinks this is funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvjBjlh1tXk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvjBjlh1tXk

Would be glad to have him back. Putting up nearly 60 points in a season in his limited role/ice time is solid. Keep him as a PP specialist and roughly 3rd line minutes as he was used his last season with the Wings. Unfortuantely though I am predicting a Filppula vs. Hudler pissing and moaning match coming from a mile away later today... *sigh*

Presently, the Red Wings need as many points as possible to secure a playoff spot and need the best players on the ice to do that. Playoffs, while more probable, are still not a guarantee. I'd love to see Osgood in but PRESENTLY, Howard gives the Wings that best option right now in goal, whether it is fair to Osgood or not. When/if they secure a spot, I'd be shocked if Osgood didn't see a game or two. Wouldn't surprise me if he played 1 of the 2 back-to-back games this weekend if the Wings win Thursday. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And please nobody give me anything about Howard wearing out until he suggests or shows that he is wearing out.

Happy b-day!!! :band:

Howard's definitely the guy right now and it's all but apparent that he'll be starting in the playoffs, assuming the Wings get in, but that doesn't mean Osgood should retire. He certainly has more wins in him and is still capable. Red Wings right now are in an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mode with goaltending right now which is perfectly fine with me given that they've had to scrap for points and a playoff spot hasn't been wrapped up early like they have typically done.
-
How do you know? The people who obsessively hate Osgood or any other Wings player on here never fail to amuse me.
-
Red Wings eliminate Hossa and the Blackhawks (though in the end I don't have anything against Hossa or utterly hate him or anything like that - just a natural competitiveness to beat him/stick it to him, nothing more or less) Red Wings win the Stanley Cup Crosby and the Penguins get eliminated in the first round - I rarely go into the extreme love or hate mode of players or teams, and it has very little, if anything at all, to do with the Wings and Penguins meeting the last two times in the Finals. Just sick and tired of Crosby promos, and just because of Crosby's attitude more often than not off the ice or in stoppages of play in a game. Not too complicated for me.
