And we did that by getting super draft steals in Datsyuk, Zerterberg, Kronwall and others. If it's not a rebuild that's the only thing we can hang our hat on now. Wouldn't mind Boedker if that meant Nyquist was traded for a stud defenseman. -

I think most of us understand this and understand isn't a place players flock to anymore. We can only change that by drafting some studs and start moving up instead of this continuous spiral down that we have been in. -

I don't think Yzerman would have been savior either. This team has been declining for 6 years and we need to stop duct taping this team together for the sake of a meaningless streak. The problem is Ilitch wants a competitive team when the pizzarena opens up so I don't see us blowing things up for another couple of years. -

I know people freak out when we use the word rebuild but this signing just delays the inevitable. Unless we get an extremely lucky Datsyuk or Z late in the draft again, we are going to need a superstar player or 2. Since we can't get those through free agency or trade that leaves only one other option. Like it or not, we are going to have to fall in order to get back up. -

The Nielsen deal does nothing but keep the Wings in the middle of the pack. Either we are at the top of the league or we rebuild and go back to the bottom and start acquiring top prospects. I'm sick of being the 16th best team every year. This half in, half a$$, just be good enough to make the playoffs bs is annoying. -
