Is it just me or has Hollands mentality changed from "let's put together a championship team" to "let's put together a competitive team" and makes the playoffs. I get that the cap has hindered his magic some from the golden years in the late 90's but we have aging super stars and I see it as a failure every off-season Holland doesn't make an effort to go for the cup for Pav and Z. You gotta take some chances now before it's too late.

Anyone remember the rules for expansion teams as fat as getting a player from every team in the nhl. I remember we had so many players that we could keep safe but they then got to select a player that was unsafe.

Howard got us into the playoffs this year and played great down the stretch. I don't think it's as much his fault as the defenses fault. That being said look at millers numbers last season with the worst team in the league in front of him before he got traded. He can play well without a good defense.

I don't know why people keep throwing these big names out there for possible trades. The chances that Holland trades picks and prospects for a big name instead of trying to sign people for free after July 1st is slim to none. The only way he would trade for a Neal, or any other comparable player would be if a deal fell in his lap he couldn't refuse and that doesn't happen in the NHL anymore. We will try to sign a few free agents and maybe make a small minor trade or two but I don't see any blockbuster trades in our future.

I don't see his points being that high . Dats and Z have been the only guys that have done that for us in the last ten years and even though Nyquist has major skill, he isn't Dats or Z.

I'm not saying Nyquist isn't a really good player and it's a risk trading him but how many people would have liked the Wings to trade the mule when his stock was high.

I would package Nyquist in a trade for a proven sniper. Nyquist's stock is as high as it's ever going to be and although I think he is a good player, I don't see him sustaining his scoring like he did on his goal streak.

It makes sense to add another team or two. That would make the divisions in the new alignment equal between the conferences.

True but it was essentially a free pick with us getting who we wanted in the first round after the trade anyway.

Holland is looking like a genius. I remember all the bashing he took for drafting Bertuzzi in the second round. He has looked like a steal lately.

I actually hope the Red Wings trade their first rounder for someone's first rounder next year and another later pick. Next years draft crop is supposed to be one of the deepest in a long time and it would be nice to have two cracks at the first round in 2015.

He needs to be cast away to NBCSN and replace Edzo. He can't coach but I sure would like to hear him call games as a color commentator.

17 goals in 15 playoffs games thus far. His team is one game away from elimination and I hope to god they lose so he can join the Griffins playoff run.

I have generally been a franzen supporter and given him the benefit of the doubt but the fact that he is so streaky and goes 20 games without scoring a goal is a problem that I do not see getting any better. The reality is with each season he will get older and slower so I think cutting ties now will benefit us down the road.
