As much as I think Veleno blows, I think he makes sense there. I don't like Blashill's tendency to try putting skill guys together. I think scoring lines need someone to dig for pucks and maintain possession. I think Fabbri-Suter-Ryan gets murdered in possession because none of them are going to be especially good at winning puck battles. Veleno would be. For now I'd do: Bert-Larkin-Zadina Fabbri-Suter-Veleno Erne-Ras-Ryan And after Vrana is back I'd do: Bert-Larkin-Vrana Veleno-Suter-Zadina Erne-Ras-Fabbri

I don't know that he's in "tank" mode, but he's definitely still in rebuilding mode. And it looks like it's going to pay off too (assuming we don't waste picks on guys like William Wallinder going forward). I think Steve wants the team to be competitive, but he's definitely looking to land a few more high end picks this year. I don't think it's unreasonable to think we trade any of Leddy, Bertuzzi, Fabbri, Namestnikov, Dekeyser, or Erne at the deadline. On those names alone you're looking at some solid draft capital. The future of this team belongs to Seider, Raymond, Berggren, Edvinsson, Cossa, etc. Larkin and maybe one or two others will be the veteran mentors. Bertuzzi was done here the moment he took the team to arbitration.

I know what the lines look like. I don't like Ryan on the 2nd. But I would like him on the 3rd. Ras and Erne create quite a few chances that I think Ryan would finish on more often than Namestnikov does.

I'm not "worried" per se. But I think skating could be the difference between him being a 60 pt. winger and an 80 pt. winger. I'm still very happy with 60, but 80 is elite.

He's looked really good. Still a little worried about his foot speed. He's going to need to add a lot of lower body strength to get that extra quickness up, otherwise I think he's going to struggle a little more against NHL defenders.

But Kip, if only there was a way to reduce the COVID burden on hospitals?!?!?! There is, get vaccinated. It's over 90% efficacious against hospitalization due to COVID. Nobody is trying to "vaccinate a respiratory illness away". Nobody gives a s*** whether you have the flu. They do, however, care if there are so many flu patents in the hospital that care cannot be adequately provided to everyone else. Public health officials are trying to vaccinate hospitalizations due to the illness away. And it ABSOLUTELY CAN be done. Just get your vaccine (and heaven forbid, maybe a booster shot too), then if you get COVID you won't end up in the ICU. The more you know.

So that seems like your baseline, but I'm not an epidemiologist (not that anybody would listen to me if I were).
