I'll leave the goalie analysis up to you. I'm out of my depth on that. The only thing I'd add is that it seems like a big part of playing the goalie position is just experience. Knowing what to do, when to do it, and what to expect from the opposition seems just as (or more) important as developing the physical tools. For skaters it's almost the opposite. If you're Taro Hirose you're never going to see NHL time because despite your experience you'll never have the physical skill to play in the NHL. For goalies is different. Your body can be more than ready, but until you've had the reps you're just not going to be any good against pro shooters.

We were badly out shot that game. While I don't put too much stock in the "shots tell the whole story" approach to analyzing hockey, I do think Cossa was the difference in that one. We're going to need to clean up our game a little before Game 2. We looked pretty sloppy with the puck at times.

Series Thread: Edmonton Oilers vs Vancouver Canucks

It seriously looks like a regular season overtime period. Just odd man rushes back and forth. Dallas/Colorado is going to bend over whichever of these teams makes it through. -

Neither of these teams bother playing defense at all. -
100% He doesn't ever need to be huge, but if he can get as strong as Helm or Glendening he'll be a really really good NHL player. He's got all the talent in the world. 5'11, 190 lbs isn't unrealistic for this guy and if he can get there he's going to have a career.

It's a tough decisions because you don't want to mess with a winning lineup, nor do you want to hinder the development of Lombardi to accommodate Danielson. Danielson is a better player, I totally agree with you. But maybe that means he doesn't need these games a much as Lombardi does. I think if anyone comes out it's got to be one of the 3rd or 4th line vets. I'm not sure who's the other wing with Lombardi and Sodorlbom on the 3rd line, but that might be a prime candidate.

Despite Nate Danielson's best efforts the Winterhawks fell to Moose Jaw last night in the WHL finals. Nate was excellent but Moose Jaw is absolutely stacked with first round talent and they overwhelmed Portland. Danielson finished the playoffs with 24 points in 18 games, won a series for the Winterhawks more or less by himself, and was only outproduced by four top end talents who are all on the same team. I really really liked his game in the playoffs. I'd imagine the next stop is Grand Rapids and it will be interesting to see if he gets a spot in the lineup or if he's a black ace throughout their run.

I don’t think this is too far fetched. Whether or not Marco plays down the middle long term I think it’s likely he breaks into the nhl on the wing…perhaps as soon as next season.

Super duper strong game from Marco. Damn
-
I’m happy to eat crow on that one

Siiiiiick goal by Kasper
-
Danielson will definitely score more. He’s a much more natural skill player and his shot is way better. Marco creates a ton but his finishing is bad. That said, he’s probably going to be a better defender and should be able to do a lot of heavy lifting against other teams’ top players.

Kasper generates scoring chances like crazy

Sweet pass by Kasper there. Nice goal.
-
Missed the first period, pumped for the second tho

He was with the team for the entirety of the last series. Same with Finnie. Barring an injury it's unlikely they'd get in a game. They're more like black aces there for observing and practicing. That might not be the case with Danielson though. I can see him getting a spot if Portland loses their next game.

I'd love to but I quit all my social media so I won't know the lineup until game time.
-
Also, if anyone is watching the Florida vs. Boston series right now thinking "man we need a guy like Sam Bennett", pay attention to how Marco Kasper plays tonight. There are A LOT of similarities in their games. After seeing how some of our more important prospects have developed this season I'm pumped for the future of this team.

This is going to be a fun series. Cossa vs. Askarov head to head in the playoffs. This might be a matchup we see for years to come. Plus Milwaukee has some really solid scoring as well. I'm pumped for tonight.

Watched the Winterhawks vs. Moose Jaw game last night and man is Danielson good. For my money he was the best player on the ice last night. All situations play, size, skill, speed. Reminded me a lot of Mika Zibanejad. He was clearly the best Winterhawk and probably the best player overall. If anything, I walked away from that thinking that he's still easily going to put another 20 lbs of muscle on. He's skinny, and while fast, he's a little gangly because he's so tall and thin. I think we got a good one here.

Danielson with a sick short handed goal just now

If we can build around this core for a few years we're winning Cups: ???-Danielson-Raymond Eiserman-Kasper-??? ???-Seider Edvinsson-ASP Cossa Augustine
-
Starting to see more mock drafts having Cole Eiserman available at 15. I love this dude. Has Matthew Tkachuk written all over him. Super competitive, fiery, can score from anywhere and doesn't like to lose. The knock on him is that he play an undisciplined and unrefined game. So what? If he's available at 15 I think you take him all day long if you're Detroit.

Anybody know much about Dylan Demelo for the Jets? RHD, played on their top pair, defends well, and is a free agent. Also from London Ontario and playing in s***hole Winnipeg. Sounds like a possible Edvinsson partner to me, or am I missing anything?

Isnt Elick just a carbon copy of Brady Cleveland?
