I absolutely love Pierre McGuire's commentary. Screw everybody who doesn't.

Good to see the Kings just got slower and dumber. That should go over well with Sutter.
-
Maybe they flip two or three of them to Arizona for Hanifin, who (at his best) will likely end up about as good as Dougie Hamilton will be. Lol.
-
We could have offered the moon too. I'm not saying that there's nothing we could have traded to get Hamilton. I'm saying there's nothing, within reason, that we could have offered that couldn't have been beaten by any team with more valuable picks. Put together any package you want, and the team that finished two spots below us in the standings could have beaten it if they wanted to. Which means Holland would have had to go higher, and higher, to outbid those guys. At which point Hamilton wouldn't be a steal anymore. He'd be an overpayment.
-
We had the 19th overall pick. No matter how much we offered, it would still always be better to take a similar deal from the team with the 18th pick. Or the 17th. Or 16th. Any deal for Hamilton was going to be about picks, and we can't compete in that arena because our picks aren't that low. We've got quality young players, but Boston doesn't want those because they can't afford them. No matter what Ken Holland would have offered, a better deal would have always existed. Even if it was just improving on the value of the picks by one or two spots overall.
-
Where the hell have you been?
-
I'm just flabbergasted by the buffoonery on this one. One team initiates three different trades and ends up with NONE of the best players when all is said and done. Whenever people complain about Ken Holland they should revisit every single Boston Bruins roster move that resulted from their decision to trade Phil Kessel. Without a doubt the dumbest roster management I've seen in a very long time.
-
Correction, to a division rival for a worse 1st rounder than they got from Calgary.
-
Not Loooooch! He's the face of their ever more pathetic franchise. A picture is worth a thousand words. Ladies and Gentlemen, your 2015-2016 Boston Bruins!
-
The string of trades resulting from the Phil Kessel deal is hysterical. They started with Kessel, then had Seguin and Hamilton, and now have Eriksson, Smith, Matt Fraser, Joe Morrow, a 1st and two 2nds. That's what you call making moves for the sake of making moves. Unreal.
-
No s***. Just take the guy to arbitration, get him signed to a reasonable bridge deal, and shed whatever salary (Chara, Lucic, Eriksson) necessary to keep him around. I don't really get it either. They hamstrung themselves on the return the minute the chose to move him as opposed to a half dozen other cap killers on their s***ty roster. On the plus side, somewhere in Beantown Jack Edwards is rocking back and forth while crying gently to himself.
-
I agree. In hindsight, wouldn't you rather have Boychuk, Seguin, and Hamilton than about half of Boston's team? Aside from Bergeron, every single player on that team is more expendable than the three of those guys. You can excuse one or two mistakes every few years, but man, those are some serious missteps.
-
They're trading him because they can't afford to re-sign him. How would sending Nyquist, who they also couldn't afford to re-sign, be enticing to them? He was always going for futures. And if that's all you're going to get in return, why trade within the division?
-
Presumably because they didn't want to trade an up and coming #1 defenseman within their division. The Boston Bruins are retarded, but not THAT retarded.
-
So in the final analysis, Boston traded Phil Kessel for two first round picks, drafted Seguin and Hamilton with said picks, and then traded each of them? It's not often that a blockbuster trade takes place and one team ends up with NONE of the primary pieces of the trade. That takes some effort.
-
I mean, I assume that Ferraro or Callahan will out play him for a spot. But why double down on it? Just sign them all, let them compete for a spot, and waive whoever you don't want at the end of the process. No need to limit your options unnecessarily.
-
Good deal. He can be waived with no harm done, and he can play adequate enough in a pinch. I'm fine with this.
-
The only hesitation I have at bringing on a guy like O'Reilly, at almost any reasonable salary, is the fact that his dad is his agent...and by all accounts a total dickhead.

Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick

Well I stand corrected. -

No they weren't. http://mensworlds.usahockey.com/page/show/1748628-dylan-larkin -
I think Colorado will trade ROR to Arizona for the third overall and take Hanafin to fill their need on defense. Just a guess though. The time for Detroit to acquire ROR was prior to last offseason. I think they would have been more willing to trade O'Reilly for another forward if they could still have retained Stastny.

Ok, fair enough. I'm done. I guess the thread became a bit of a catch all after Khan reported there was no more interest in Phaneuf.

Do a quick google reference of all the "Paul Heyman guys" over the years. He's by far the most successful manager in history. Paul Bearer is a close second. Everybody else is in the rearview.
-
Mike Babcock doesn't hold a candle to Paul Heyman. I'm sooooo disappointed you just compared the two lol. Around these parts I'm well known for several things. My conviction that Mike Babcock is an overrated pud is tops on that list. Paul Heyman, on the other hand, is probably the greatest manager in the history of sports entertainment.
-
Depends, is Paul Heyman coaching him?
