Kyle Quincey rules. He's like Mad Max. Screw you Flip! -

He'll get 3:30 minutes of ice time, an assist, and a shorthanded turnover. So, the usual. -
ECQF : (7) Sénateurs d'Ottawa vs. (2) Les Canadiens de Montréal

There's really no need for further punishment for anybody involved. It was an egregious slash, and he got the maximum penalty allowed for an egregious slash. But fining the coach for being pissed off that his guy got slashed would have only made things worse. I'd assume that for the remainder of the series, Subban won't get any leeway from the refs, and the Sens will get considerable leeway as they rough him up, hit him, face wash him, and generally try to make his life hell. Which is pretty much exactly what should happen. Suspensions for anyone would be overkill. -

It's good theater, I'll give him that. His team was pretty massively outplayed. If his comments spark them, then I'd pay the fine if I were the owner. But I really don't see it happening. It's certainly not to their advantage to be shorthanded for the remainder of the series. I get what he's trying to do, but I think he's going to have to really manage the team well in order for it to work. Playing completely undisciplined hockey now, and letting tempers flair, is completely opposite of what got them here in the first place. -
ECQF : (8) Pittsburgh Penguins vs. (1) New York Rangers

This series is going to be ugly. Fleury is a playoff flop, and the Rangers are a juggernaut. Yikes. -

They didn't fine him, but apparently the league called both the Habs and the Sens and issued warnings to each teams' management. -
WCQF : (7) Winnipeg Jets vs. (1) Anaheim Ducks

I think out of all the teams in the West, I'd like Winnipeg to do well. I like their team, tons of their players, and the fans and city deserve it. Short of the Wings, the Peg is my preferred Cup winner. -

No Ladd or Perreault for Winnipeg tonight. That's rough. Either way, I think they beat Anaheim in 6. Anaheim is a playoff dud and Winnipeg is absolutely stacked everywhere but in goal. -

From what I understand he was just ribbing Zetterberg. Filppula used to sit by him, and it seemed like he was just clowning about Zetterberg being horrible to sit next to. Nothing serious. -
S'matter Yzerman, afraid of the jersey you wore for so long?

And if Smith left it would be? How about Jeff Blashill, now THAT would be a heal turn. How many times have you seen someone turn heal because they're sick of living in someone else's shadow? No more playing second fiddle for Blash. -

No they don't. Babs was using him in the middle of the ice on the PP recently, AND he's got all of two point on the powerplay anyway. I'd rather have guys that don't score much, but do other things well than a guy who doesn't score much and doesn't nothing else well. Despite the fact that he's clearly an excellent AHL player, Pulkkinen has not figured out how to translate that success to the NHL game yet. Until he does he's pretty much a non factor in every game he plays. ____________________________________________________ In other news During a media scrum today, Filppula said "I feel sorry for the guy sitting next to Zetterberg in the locker room now". That guy is Stephen Weiss. I feel sorry for him too. But not because of who he sits next to. -

The third man is clearly Babcock. Who will complete his heel turn when Bischoff...er...Yzerman signs him in the offseason. -

Because he's not an effective NHL player on most nights, and because games are super important right now? -

Since when do I hate hitting? I'll assume that this ridiculous claim is being made in an attempt to bait me into some asinine conversation about something or other. As for your suggestion that Neill should target Subban. I think Ottawa AND Montreal agree with you. All parties involved really want that to happen. So I hope they do it. That way I can laugh when it backfires. -

Anybody remember this? Not sure Ottawa has a leg to stand on here. Quit acting like a bunch of ******* and play hockey. -

Watch, these dummies will come out runnin' next game, put Montreal on the powerplay for 60 minutes, and hand them a 2-0 series lead. Hell Ottawa is already thinking about playing Chris Neill. No doubt to get a little retribution. They're going to be so fixated on Subban that they'll dig themselves in a hole. And the worst part? He'll get the powerplay goals. Because he's not easy to intimidate. And he's really good. Again, your goal should be to minimize Subban's impact on the game. Not put him under the spot light. -

There are two types of people who live in Tampa Bay. 80 year old retirees from Michigan who are too frail to handle the winters... And people conceived by weak sperm. -

People have been coming after Subban forever. Keep trying. Anybody remember the Boston series last year? They targeted him in every way possible. The result? He almost nearly won the series by himself. Didn't he have two assists last night? Maybe, just maybe, Ottawa's playing with fire here. I mean, do you really want to make this series the "PK Subban Show"? Seems like that's exactly the kind of situation he thrives in. -

Lol. The old "Detroit sucks because it's poor" argument again eh? Lame. Tampa's entire economy revolves around bilking retirees out of the social security checks. Not sure I'd double down on economic pride if I were them. -
But the plot thickens, because Calgary ditched truculence and made the playoffs. I'm not sure what to believe in anymore.

Excited for Bertuzzi...less so for Hicketts. We've already got too many defensemen in GR as it is.

Mark Stone's status "unknown" after being diagnosed with a "microfracture" in his wrist, according to Katie "My Lady" Strang. Patrice Bergeron plays with a separated shoulder and a collapsed lung and Stone might not play with a "microfracture"? Either this is all theater or Mark Stone is weak as hell. Edit: Yeah, I thought so. f*** off Mark Stone. "Bruins assistant captain Patrice Bergeron was released Wednesday from the hospital, where he had been since the end of Monday's Game 6 with a small puncture in his lung. Bergeron is also suffering from a cracked rib, torn rib cartilage and a separated shoulder. It is unclear how and when the punctured lung occurred." -
CTE directly contributes to mental health issues, including substance abuse, depression, and suicide. It's not a side issue, it's almost certainly a primary factor in many of these cases. Edit: Also, one of the more common symptoms of CTE is dementia, so I wouldn't go holding up Gordie Howe as some sort of example. Terrible Ted might be a better choice.

I hope Subban absolutely dominates the remainder of this series. Also, lost in all the shenanigans last night was the fact that a Montreal team without Subban AND Pacioretty absolutely dominated the Sens. The only way Ottawa stays in this series is if Montreal lets them hang around by being undisciplined. If they keep their heads, Montreal runs away with this one. -

I am so freaking amped up already. I work right next to the Verizon Center in D.C. and last night there were Caps and Islanders fans all over the place going NUTS for the game. I haven't been able to relax since then. Today would only be better if I were in Detroit. Wings win. 3-1. Goals by Sheahan, Kronwall, and an empty netter by Glendening. Screw Tampa. The Wings rule! Detroit rules! Lafayette coneys rule! It's playoff hockey *******! Welcome to thunderdome!
