ECQF : (7) Sénateurs d'Ottawa vs. (2) Les Canadiens de Montréal

Since when do I hate hitting? I'll assume that this ridiculous claim is being made in an attempt to bait me into some asinine conversation about something or other. As for your suggestion that Neill should target Subban. I think Ottawa AND Montreal agree with you. All parties involved really want that to happen. So I hope they do it. That way I can laugh when it backfires.

Anybody remember this? Not sure Ottawa has a leg to stand on here. Quit acting like a bunch of ******* and play hockey.

Watch, these dummies will come out runnin' next game, put Montreal on the powerplay for 60 minutes, and hand them a 2-0 series lead. Hell Ottawa is already thinking about playing Chris Neill. No doubt to get a little retribution. They're going to be so fixated on Subban that they'll dig themselves in a hole. And the worst part? He'll get the powerplay goals. Because he's not easy to intimidate. And he's really good. Again, your goal should be to minimize Subban's impact on the game. Not put him under the spot light.

ECQF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings at Tampa Bay Lightning, 7:30 EST

There are two types of people who live in Tampa Bay. 80 year old retirees from Michigan who are too frail to handle the winters... And people conceived by weak sperm.

ECQF : (7) Sénateurs d'Ottawa vs. (2) Les Canadiens de Montréal

People have been coming after Subban forever. Keep trying. Anybody remember the Boston series last year? They targeted him in every way possible. The result? He almost nearly won the series by himself. Didn't he have two assists last night? Maybe, just maybe, Ottawa's playing with fire here. I mean, do you really want to make this series the "PK Subban Show"? Seems like that's exactly the kind of situation he thrives in.

Lol. The old "Detroit sucks because it's poor" argument again eh? Lame. Tampa's entire economy revolves around bilking retirees out of the social security checks. Not sure I'd double down on economic pride if I were them.

But the plot thickens, because Calgary ditched truculence and made the playoffs. I'm not sure what to believe in anymore.

Excited for Bertuzzi...less so for Hicketts. We've already got too many defensemen in GR as it is.

Mark Stone's status "unknown" after being diagnosed with a "microfracture" in his wrist, according to Katie "My Lady" Strang. Patrice Bergeron plays with a separated shoulder and a collapsed lung and Stone might not play with a "microfracture"? Either this is all theater or Mark Stone is weak as hell. Edit: Yeah, I thought so. f*** off Mark Stone. "Bruins assistant captain Patrice Bergeron was released Wednesday from the hospital, where he had been since the end of Monday's Game 6 with a small puncture in his lung. Bergeron is also suffering from a cracked rib, torn rib cartilage and a separated shoulder. It is unclear how and when the punctured lung occurred."

    No Scoring and No Fighting

CTE directly contributes to mental health issues, including substance abuse, depression, and suicide. It's not a side issue, it's almost certainly a primary factor in many of these cases. Edit: Also, one of the more common symptoms of CTE is dementia, so I wouldn't go holding up Gordie Howe as some sort of example. Terrible Ted might be a better choice.

ECQF : (7) Sénateurs d'Ottawa vs. (2) Les Canadiens de Montréal

I hope Subban absolutely dominates the remainder of this series. Also, lost in all the shenanigans last night was the fact that a Montreal team without Subban AND Pacioretty absolutely dominated the Sens. The only way Ottawa stays in this series is if Montreal lets them hang around by being undisciplined. If they keep their heads, Montreal runs away with this one.

ECQF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings at Tampa Bay Lightning, 7:30 EST

I am so freaking amped up already. I work right next to the Verizon Center in D.C. and last night there were Caps and Islanders fans all over the place going NUTS for the game. I haven't been able to relax since then. Today would only be better if I were in Detroit. Wings win. 3-1. Goals by Sheahan, Kronwall, and an empty netter by Glendening. Screw Tampa. The Wings rule! Detroit rules! Lafayette coneys rule! It's playoff hockey *******! Welcome to thunderdome!

Yeah, but how hot are their girlfriends? Because if Riley Smith and Loui Eriksson have hotter girlfriends then isn't it a wash? Also, who's better at math?

Vermette scratched for game 1. Lol. Remember when he was the "top player available" at the trade deadline?

    Franzen on IR

I can think of about 3.8 million reasons per year why he'd want to continue as long as he possibly can.

S'matter Yzerman, afraid of the jersey you wore for so long?

He uses spray tan. Screw that guy. Next thing you know he'll be saying "Gentlemen, start your engines!" at the Daytona 500. If that hillbilly's organization wants a rivalry, I'll give them a rivalry. My "hate dial" is turned up to 11 and I'm gunning for Stevie Y, his pretty boy goal scorer, and the rest of his grisly pack of philistines.

So you think that he'd have been fired for anything short of another Cup this season?

S'matter Yzerman, afraid of the jersey you wore for so long?

It's hard for me to idolize a man who turned his back on Detroit and walked away from the organization in order to become a general manager in the world's biggest trailer park. Might as well be the general manager of a Cinnabon, its more prestigious. It's even harder for "fans" of that trailer park team to understand why they suck, given their measly 45 chromosomes and their Type II diabetes. Lay off the Mountain Dew you swamp rats! I know, I'm just having fun. Sleep on a cardboard box under an overpass. You'll fit right in with the locals.

    No Scoring and No Fighting

Interesting thought from Elliotte Friedman: "Nugent-Hopkins, after leading most of the way, ended up second behind John Tavares in ice-time per game among forwards. Why is scoring down? Tavares’ total was 20:40. If you go back to 1997-98, the earliest season available on NHL.com, that number would have placed him 28th in the league, 4:17 behind leader Theo Fleury."

    Boston GM Peter Chiarelli fired

Per some smartass on twitter... "Bad day to be a Boston sports figure who made a horrible mistake when they pulled the trigger in 2013" Lol.

    Boston GM Peter Chiarelli fired

Sure, but that's a risk they seemed willing to take in order to win a Cup. He delivered their Cup by (in part) sacrificing the "later" for the "now", which everyone seemed fine with when Chara was hoisting Lord Stanley. And as I've said already, all of this is immaterial because he didn't get fired for losing Boychuk or Iginla. He got fired for missing the playoffs. If Andrew Hammond doesn't go all "Rain Man" in net, Boston makes the playoffs, and Chairelli keeps his job.

S'matter Yzerman, afraid of the jersey you wore for so long?

Because the Tampa Bay lightening and their turd fans are now the opposition. And every thing they do is therefore stupid, sucky, and asinine. Whereas everything we do is absolutely right on a cosmic (almost divine) level. Because it's the playoffs...and they're stupid, and we rule.

S'matter Yzerman, afraid of the jersey you wore for so long?

I know he did. And I would have said the same about him if we'd been playing his team in the playoffs. My point, however, is that Yzerman doesn't get "Red Wings Legend" levels of devotion from me while he's actively trying to beat our team. When he retires from the sport altogether, he gets to be a Wing again. Until then, f*** that guy and his garbage ass team. I hope his entire team, family, and friends all get the mumps. Punk ass *****.

Dylan Larkin on Team USA for World Cup

Who was it that said there was no clear #1 center in our system? Granted, no prospect is a sure thing, but this kid is about as close as it gets. He's the real deal. Someone else also said that Zach Hyman was the one "driving the play" on that line in Michigan as well. Lol. Nah.
