Read it again, I said top prospects. He's not a prospect. Both Colorado and Buffalo traded NHL regulars.
-
Byram is an NHL regular. He's played 146 games in the NHL across four seasons, and were it not for concussions issues would have played more. He's not a prospect.
-
Not possible. Simon would crush him like a bug. If Derek could neuter Seider as you're suggesting then that tells you everything you need to know about Mo right there.
-
Fun observation from the trade frenzy yesterday. Anybody notice how no top end prospects were moved in any of the major deals? That's something to keep in mind next year when you hear people saying "the ask will be a 1st and Danielson/ASP/Edvinsson/Kasper/etc.". No teams trade that top prospects.
-
Thankfully we've got Edvinsson to come in and take the hard minutes for Seider soon enough.
-
Apparently so. Guess that's what happens when you've got two second pairing defenseman as your top pair.
-
Seider and Walman looked terrible last night, and that's before you factor in all the goals they gave up. Lazy passing, bad penalties, out of position. They got exposed. Both of these guys are great dmen but they cannot handle a full season of the opposition's best without wearing down it seems.
-
We are getting steamrolled right now. Holy cripes.
-
Well Portland will probably score 10 goals on Kamloops tonight so I think Danielson is MUCH more likely to have a "better game". But if Kamloops can keep it close(ish) and Finnie has a couple of points I think it'll speak volumes about his game. This is basically the Harlem Globetrotters vs. the Washington Generals.
-
I will lose my mind if we win this game. It would be a season defining win.

I actually like the idea of having a lot of vets on the team right now with the caveat that I just don't want them on bad contracts. I don't think it's a bad thing for Nate Danielson or Marco Kasper to have to be at least as good as JT Compher before they play in the top six. Vets (if you've got the right ones) are the standard bearers for your team. "Okay Simon, you want to be the man eh? Go take Ben Chiarot's spot. If you can't, then go work on your game".

This is...not going to go well.

I hadn't heard that. Did I offend you? -
I'm online right now screwing with Pens fans and it's amazing how delusional they are. They have no picks, no prospects, few tradable assets, and a team that's old, expensive, and getting worse. You wouldn't believe how many of them DON'T think the team should be rebuilding because...wait for it...analytics. LOL
-
So you're suggesting a playoff team trade a better player for a worse one and upgrade a 5th round pick to a 2nd? I guess, but why bother?
-
Why would he get more this year? And why do you think Deangelo would only require a 5th?
-
I hadn't heard Casey Mittelstadt to Detroit rumors. Full disclosure I've always been a Mittelstadt guy so take what I say with a grain of salt...but...I like the idea. I watch a lot of Sabres games and I think he's really changed his game a lot. He plays hard and can be chippy. He's also a pretty solid two-way guy now. He's about to have a 60+ point season with Okposo and Skinner as his wingers. Give him some combinations of Kane, Dcat, and Raymond to play with that I really like what he could do. Larkin, Compher, Mittelstadt, and Veleno would be pretty solid center depth and you'd have two guys that can generate offense and two guys that can check. I'm here for it.
-
Way more? Didn't Gost get traded last season for a 3rd?
-
Cheap option to do what? The job Shayne Gostisbehere is already doing perfectly well? We need guys than can defend.

The same articles states that Dubas has made clear he wants "premium prospects" (rather than picks) in any trades. LOL I bet he does. Dubas: Hello fellow GMs, just letting you all know the Pittsburgh Penguins are open for business and ready to make the most of the trade deadline. Just a reminder, I'm only really interested in the best prospects you have in your farm systems. GMs: Okaaaay, well what do YOU have to trade. Dubas: Well I've got injured forty goal scorer Jake Guentzel on an expiring contract. GMs: ....crickets... Dubas: Oh...um...not your flavor huh? You'd prefer someone with term eh? How about 33 year old former All-star Erik Karlsson? He's got term. Three more seasons...cough...at $11.5 million dollars...cough cough. GMs:.... Dubas: Alright, no takers eh? Well surely you'd be willing to trade your premium prospects for Marcus Pettersson right? He's young, has term and a manageable cap hit, and he on pace to have a career best season with 30...uhhhh...30 points. Definitely worth one of your top guys no? GMs: Look, I could use a little scoring and I'm feeling charitable. What would you take for Rust. I mean, he's injured and under contract until he's 40, but I'd like to win a Cup this year. Dubas: He's not for sale. GMs:...

I don't see how Dubas could trade him without A) retaining significant salary, or B) sweetening the pot with picks. His contract is horrendous.

What an iconoclastic post. You're so edgy. -
Sounds like a winner. The only change I'd make on defense is bringing in a physical RHD that can play (and not get scored on much) in the Top 4 to pair with Chiarot. I don't really care who it is (provided they're not on a prohibitive contract).
