And let the excuses begin... "The Detroit Red Wings, following two injury-riddled seasons, have been fairly healthy - until last week. First, they lost forwards Johan Franzen (possible concussion) and Tomas Jurco (back). Now it appears goaltender Jimmy Howard will be out a while due to a groin injury. They were already missing goalie Jonas Gustavsson (shoulder) and defenseman Jakub Kindl (sprained elbow)." http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2015/01/5_things_to_watch_red_wings_in.html

If the second pair is just going to be a shutdown pair anyway, and provide relatively little offense, what do you guys think about moving dekeyser up with knonwall, and putting Ericsson with Quincey? I agree that Q and dekeyser have been good defensively, but if we can't figure out a transition game then I think we are going to continue to struggle.

    1/10 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Capitals 3

Just sour grapes because I spent a lot of money to watch the team phone it in.

What was the refrain before the game? We are headed in the right direction? Too bad they all can't be Edmonton and Calgary.

All three of the new lines had zone time. We've got this. Gustav New-kist. Ugh. Arena announcers are the worst

We finally had a little zone time once babs changed the lines. Hopefully we can get all over them in the third.

Need to get Weiss up with sheahan and pulkkinen. Miller works hard but can't make plays.

So far here's my impression of pulkkinen. He's got good quickness, pouncing on loose pucks, or finding open ice in the offensive zone. But up and down the ice or breaking into the zone he's only an OK skater. Also, his defense is fine. He's always tracking his guy and seems to be aware that he's got to play two ways up here. As far as the team goes, we are abysmal at gaining the zone and it is solo easy to break up out play through the neutral zone. Plus we are bad passers. And we play with no pace. We get the puck, load up, rush, throw the puck away, go get it back, circle back, load up, and do it again.

At the game. Pulkkinens shot is unreal. Soooo much quicker than anything else we have seen on this team.

    McGratton on waivers

Lol. Tell me again about how useful McGuffin is on the day that he cleared waivers? I suppose 30 NHL General Managers are just as ***, pussified, and delusional as I am eh?

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

I vaguely recall hearing him say that he's just there to score. Although, he's hardly the first player to have said something like that in public.

Didn't Ottawa get Chaisson in the Spezza deal? I don't think they're going to turn around and cut bait on the guy after a year.

    McGratton on waivers

Don't forget ***. Frankgrimes made it clear above that if there's no fighting, hockey will become "as homosexual as other sports". The great Champion of fighting wants enforcers in the game, why? So it doesn't turn ***. Lol. Even if I didn't care about fighting in hockey I'd be against it just so I didn't have to agree with anyone who thinks something like that.

    McGratton on waivers

Close. When I was a child I was a member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters. As luck would have it, premier NHL enforcer Craig Coxe had volunteered to be a member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and I, being a lifelong hockey fan, was chosen as his "little". I was so excited that I was going to get to spend time with a real, live, NHL enforcer. No more gushing over hockey cards, facebook photographs, and in-game stills for me. This was the real thing! Never had I been more "pro-enforcer". Craig Coxe is generally unreliable. Both as a human being, and as a "big". That's why I hate enforcers GMRwings. Well that and because Brian McGuffin is "better at life than me".

I know, how much is that film going to rule?

    McGratton on waivers

That's right. He wants Lucic to go out of his way to hurt someone, so that McGuffin can come back and make Lucic not hurt people anymore. And that, in a nutshell, is the mentality of the pro-fighting crowd.

    McGratton on waivers

Well that and GMRwings doesn't have an odd, almost child-like infatuation with pictures of me.

You're welcome. You're all welcome. By the way, have you seen the trailers for the new Mad Max starring Luke Glendening...errr...Tom Hardy? It looks bitchin'.

I think he should get hired by the league to carry around Gary Bettman like Master Blaster from Mad Max "Who runs bartertown!"

    McGratton on waivers

Nope, I bet team (the league over) were lining up to sign a slow, talentless, 37 year old dips*** who squirts people with water bottles from the bench. And of course he chose them, not because they were the only team that was interested, but because the Florida Panthers have a long and storied history in the NHL. I mean, who wouldn't want to play for them?

    McGratton on waivers

Nope I mean the Florida that will be watching playoff hockey on TV like I do. Oh, you didn't think the fact that they won a few games against the Wings lately matters did you? Adorable.
