    McGratton on waivers

Well one of the two people you're talking about just got waived because he's EXACTLY an unskilled meathead goon, and the other didn't have a place on the only team in the league that 100% embraces unskilled meathead goons. So what point are you trying to make? That one of the two of them is a good hockey player? They're just different levels of unskilled, meatheaded, goon. Hence nobody (other than perennially horrible Florida) wants them.

    McGratton on waivers

I know we are all having some fun right now. But I think its important to take a minute to think about those most affected by this. Of course I'm speaking about Brian and the rest of the McGuffin family. I hope they know that through trials ahead, I personally will never forget the significance they've had on me. The name McGuffin will forever be seared in my memory.

This is all so incredibly satisfying. I'm not above basking in it.

Have you seen how much Tatar likes to party? I bet that dude goes unprotected all the time. It's a dangerous world.

Two McGrattans don't make a right. Or a complete hockey player for that matter.

You know who will get to the bottom of this? Brian McGrattan in his new front office position. Nobody is more capable of A) figuring out which rat hypnotized Brian Burke and forced him to waive the aforementioned McGrattan, and B) making sure that all future Flames embrace a different rat ethic...of the gym variety. All in a day's work for Brian McGrattan, Calgary Flames Toughness Czar.

Yeah, but aside from those two really tough dudes, "WHO IS PROTECTING JOHNNY HOCKEY, MONAHAN, AND BARTSCHI NOW?"

    Osgood circa 2008 *Mod Advisory @ #18*

Nevermind, I was looking at the wrong stat. Cujo had a 1.39 GAA to Osgood's 1.55 GAA. Dang, that's some goal-tendin'.

I hope it's just a euphemism for a concussion. If he's really out with whiplash then he should be ashamed of himself.

Is his face pointy? I'd never noticed. Edit: I suppose he does look a bit angular here...

Nothing about this thread is disappointing me so far. Also nothing about it is surprising me either. God bless LGW!

I hope those stupid bastards do claim him. It would be great if they let Shawn Thornton walk and then acquired another meathead in his place.

I remember when he was a free agent and a common refrain was "I don't want Wisniewski. He's bad in his own zone and he's asking for too much money". That was before we gave Kyle Quincey 4.8 million dollars to be a worse Brad Stuart. And before a right shooting, powerplay quarterback, who can move the puck from the back end (e.g. James Wisniewski) became our White Whale. Oh how the times have changed.

Wouldn't that be great? If like 5 or 6 teams in a row claimed McGrattan the day before they played the Bruins just so Lucic could get punched in the face. I hate fighting, but I think I hate Lucic more. This is a toughie.

Clearly Frankgrimes and GMRwings haven't heard the news yet. They're going to be absolutely devastated when their one and only chance to land McGrattan has came and went. Devastated.

    McGratton on waivers

If I were Buffalo I'd claim him, and the next time I played Boston I'd finally pay Lucic back for running over Ryan Miller. Then I'd waive him again.

I was basically trying to identify options that people hadn't talked about already, and who were in the realm of possibility. I agree that neither Barrie or Wisniewski are likely to be moved, and only included them because their teams are absolutely horrible. That usually makes teams willing to listen a little more than they might otherwise prefer to, but agree that it would take a lot to pry them out. As far as Franson, I didn't put him on the list because A) We're all aware that he's availabe, and B) We're in the same division, and C) Toronto might just make the playoffs (and therefore keep him). But yes, I'd have interest in Franson (as would everyone else in the league). I generally agree with your assessments across the board. Except that I'd say this: Wisniewski's "comments" have been overblown on LGW since he made them. His exact quote was something like "in my experience...um...uh...they (Detroit) don't usually pay market value...um...so I was looking elsewhere", or something to that effect. Afterward those moderately critical (and totally true) comments morphed thereafter into "I don't want to play for that cheapskate Ken Holland". I have no doubt that Wisniewski, or Kesler, or Rafalski, or Gordie Howe would accept a trade here if his contract was guaranteed already and our team was better than the one they were on. Such is the case with Wisniewski.
