Better for the city if that land is freed up and developed. I'm all for it.

You're right. It was completely justified. Babs couldn't possibly have made a bad decision there. If he says Nestrasil gives us the best chance to win last night then he does...because Mike said it. Which is why Nestrasil was picked, he scored, and kept the game within reach...oh wait...no he didn't. Not only was it a questionable decision, it was a questionable decision that had a predictably underwhelming result. Until Nestrasil scores a single NHL point, resting the game on his scoring ability is probably a bad idea. I know I know. Mike Babcock is a heroic, genius, who's hockey knowledge dwarfs all us peons. Nevertheless I can't help but think it's a bad idea to count on scoring from a guy who has literally never, EVER, done it in the NHL...ever.

*** for tat really. They were both good. Sadly, I don't think Ericsson is even close to 100%. It's becoming cool for everyone to ***** about him again, but for about three years now he hasn't been turning the puck over regularly. Last night he couldn't pass the puck at all. Got to be the finger.

McCrimmon gave his life to be a head coach? Are you suggesting that he somehow knew he was going to die, but did it anyway to realize his dream? Or are you exaggerating for effect? It's probably a little more accurate to say "he died doing what he loved", or "he died after realizing a life long dream". He didn't really "give his life" for anything as it implies he volunteered to die.

Think that has anything to do with the fact that Babs' preferred lineup if chocked full of guys who play offense like old people f***?
-
Anybody remember that movie "Rudy" about hard working, diminutive, and semi skilled, Notre Dame defenisive lineman Rudy Ruettiger? Rudy would start every game for Mike Babcock.
-
I find it hard to believe that a guy with roughly 15 AHL goals is some dazzling offensive threat and all of us die hard fans have somehow missed it. Nestrasil went first because Babcock likes him. Same reason Glendening played 17:00 minutes and Cleary got the final roster spot. I'm sure Babs thought "Nesty" could hard work a goal into the net during the shootout. Turns out he wasn't playing heavy enough...ugh.

How about Tatar and Jurco you ******* s*** head!!!! Babcock geniused us into a loss there.
-
Nestrasil? Seriously? f*** you and your man crushes Babs.
-
C'mon guys, he dove a little bit there.

Javerage. Totally Javerage.

Nyquist needs to learn a new move when carrying the puck in off the wing. As soon as he gains the zone he puts the breaks on, peels back, and looks for the trailer all the time. Also, good to see him back on the third line. I love having options.

Lol. And why Lord, why, did the NHL force Calgary to trade Phaneuf for little return while forcing them to trade Iginla too late to make any difference? And shine your light, oh heavenly father, on why the NHL made Jay Feaster pay Jay Bouwmeester 6.8 million dollars when he was only worth 5.2 million? Pray tell thee Lord of hosts, didn't the leagueth knowest that two Jays don't makest a right? Finally oh merciful and most righteously of fatherly fathers, tell me why the league made Jiri Hudler maddeningly slow, yet also maddeningly good at producing secondary scoring? Surely thust doest not jest oh knowingest of knowers. Youest makest a mockeryist of truest hockey fan throughout the league's control of team level decisions.

Who is?

I hate that Nestrasil gets power play time. Give me a break. I like that Brendan Smith gets pk time. It works to his strengths (skating and physical toughness). Those are my first period takeaways.

Babcock "I don't think it will be my final year here"
kipwinger replied to trule23's topic in General
I agree with you 100%. But you can also find new players. Like that time Scotty Bowman (then GM of the Red Wings) decided not to bring Bob Probert back because he wasn't talented enough to play Scotty's system. Just gotta make hard decisions. -
I know. I that's exactly how I interpreted your post.
-
I mean, other the arguable "no call", I don't think any blame NEEDS to be directed. Kronwall toe picked, everyone thought a penalty was getting called, and Ryan Getzlaf is one of the best players in the world. In short, it was a flukey goal. I'm not too interested in pointing fingers on that one.
-
Ahhhhhh. Yeah that goal was clearly Ericsson's fault lol.
-
I'd agree on the Bergeron goal. Which other?
-
Probably not to most of our bottom six players. If Babs had a different philosophy in mind, guys like Glendening, Andersson, and Nestrasil would still be in the AHL and Helm, Abby, and Miller would be on the fourth line. They're probably thrilled that he coaches the way he does. If he had any interest in scoring goals those guys would all be marginal NHL players.
-
And you'll get it...next year...when Jeff Blashill's the coach. Don't hold your breath for scoring as long as Babs is the coach. Offense isn't really part of his game plan.
-
Why should Ericsson be demoted?
-
Agreed (partially). As such, if we're going to count on unknown quantities to step up, I'd rather we rely on the potential of our own prospects than hack defensemen making 4-5 million bucks a year. Myers scored 25 points last year and was bad defensively (all for around 5 million dollars a year). I'm POSITIVE that Ryan Sproul could score 25 pts and be bad defensively for a much more palpable price tag.

Well unless his hands are beautiful at fightin' we need to trade that bum for someone to keep Datsyuk healthy. Besides he's redundant. We've got size, grit, and offensive savvy in spades.
