Same, love the term and I think its very likely that he out performs that contract for the entirety of the deal. This is really great work. Edit: This also sets the bar for Veleno. He should come in well south of this contract.

Discussing the trade deadline today, Max Bultman of The Athletic speculated that Alex Wenneberg, Nic Dowd, and Pavel Buchnevich might be players of interest to Detroit. Lalonde has mentioned publicly that he'd like Yzerman to add a "utility foward" at the deadline and I think all three fit the bill to varying degrees. Buchnevich is the best player, Dowd would be the cheapest, and Wenneberg is somewhere in between. Edit: The more I think about it the more I like the idea of Wennberg. He and Sprong had chemistry in Seattle a year ago and he won't break the bank. That also allows us to get Veleno on the wing. I'd do something like Veleno-Larkin-Raymond Kane-Compher-Dcat Perron-Wennberg-Sprong Ras-Copp-Fischer

This is a really really good contract. A+ work by Yzerman here.

I’ve found myself watching totally obscure games this year because “if the Coyotes beat Philly and New Jersey beats Nashville it’s a bad night for Detroit” lol.

I thought we played bad but stole a couple points anyway tbh.

I saw a rumor that Buffalo might trade Alex Tuch. I'd be all over that. -

Totally agree. He's going to have to make a big time decision at the deadline and I think it's going to be MUCH harder than a year ago. Some of the solutions to those problems might come from inside the organization (Edvinsson in particular) but if he's not going to address the others then why bother? Fold your hand and strengthen it before next year. That said, losing over and over and over again is terrible for any organization. I don't think it's a great idea to toss in our cards this year for a 16th OA pick. -

I'm concerned about the last two games only insofar as the race for the Wild Card is tight and we need the points. Otherwise I'm not really all that concerned about losing to a couple of the best teams in the league, one of which we beat a week ago and the other we took to overtime last month. We're a good team, but not a perfect one. In order for us to take the next step I think a few things need to happen: 1. David Perron should be on the team, but he absolutely shouldn't be in the top six. The Kane-Compher-Perron line gives away too much defensively to play significant minutes. We need a top six winger, ideally a power winger. 2. Our 2nd defensive pair needs completely revamped. I think Chiarot "could" be on that pair with someone like Chychrun or Hanifin, but Petry can't. Improving this pair does two things, 1) minimizes the mistakes the current pair makes, and 2) lightens the load on the top pair. Both things would help a great deal. 3. At the very least we need a 2nd Alex Lyon type goalie. We cannot ask him to play like he did last month for the remainder of the season. If we can't solve these three issues we might still make the playoffs, but we're certainly not going to beat the very best teams. -

We played a strong game for two period, could have easily been up by a goal or two after the 2nd period based on scoring chances and few hit posts. We just got loosey goosey with our defense in the 3rd against a team that just won 16 in a row. It happens. I'm not sure I'd draw too many conclusions from it. -

Yep, I don't think it was a terrible idea to see what Husso could do when he came back. But it's clear that's not going to work so we probably need to figure something else out. You're right, Lyon can't play every two or three days for the rest of the season and Reimer isn't going to cut it as a regular backup. -

Well, last night was a bust. I thought we played really really well for two periods and then obviously fell apart in the 3rd. We were getting tons of chances, I think Dcat hit two posts in the first two periods. Not our best effort in the 3rd, but also credit to them on a few of those goals. The RNH snipe, in particular, was just a really well placed shot. If Dcat or Kane or Larkin had shot that puck we'd be drooling about how unstoppable it was. Get up, dust yourselves off, and get back to work in Vancouver. -
It's pretty hard to find streams for Griffins games. If anyone wants to watch them I'd recommend doing the "Single Day Pass" option for AHL games, which is $8 per day. Not much different than buying a nosebleed ticket Van Andel arena.

I think it's pretty weak to crosscheck him in the face. I'm fine with fighting him though. That's what I think should have happened. -
I've seen (unsubstantiated) rumors online that Pavel Buchnevich might be dealt by St. Louis. He'd be a really really good get. I also like Marcus Pettersson from Pittsburgh as a lower cost option to Hanifin and Chychrun. Buchnevich-Larkin-Raymond Debrincat-Compher-Kane Ras-Copp-Fischer Perron-Veleno-Sprong Fabbri/Kostin

Anybody see the Toronto/Ottawa debacle last night? Oh it was sweet. A couple of things, 1) If I'm Toronto's management I'm not mad at all at Morgan Reilly for attacking this kid. You have to. But he 100% deserves a suspension. 2) We need to trade for Ridly Greig right now. The absolute balls on this kid to do that to Toronto cannot be overstated. https://x.com/TicTacTOmar/status/1756508343051383252?s=20 -
Emmitt Finnie with four goals last night.
-
I think there’s a lot of wisdom to this. Hard to justify changing a lineup that keeps beating top teams.
-
Berggren with another goal, Kasper with another primary assist so far tonight.
-
I know. I really wish we had extended him for more than 3 years. He's breaking out in a big way. We need to give a raise to whichever pro scout told Yzerman to land Walman in that Nick Leddy trade. What a gamer.
-
Dude Jake Walman is so awesome. Grabbing his jersey and showing it to the fans after getting the 1st star. I love that guy.
-
What a f*cking game!!!!!!!
-
Huge PK here. You had to know they were gonna give Vancouver at least one more before the end of the game.
-
Ras tipped that shot by Walman.
-
Hell of a pass by Kane there. Thank god for that one. It's a game now. What a goal by Ras!!!!!! Hell of a tip.
