It really wasn't until that powerplay. We looked really solid in the first period IMO.

7 minutes of dogs*** powerplay and we get scored on by Hronek coming out of the box. That was ugly.

Our passing is really really sloppy so far. Guys are just throwing the puck to nobody at all. Drives me crazy.

Broken stick screwed us there. Debrincat couldn't clear the zone. Ugh.

I'm kinda pumped that the Wings are playing a matinee game because now I can watch the Griffs tonight as well. The chances of me getting anything done today are dwindling lol.

It just seems like if Raymond, Seider, and to a lesser extent Rasmussen are all going to be getting significant raises in the offseason we'll need to save money where we can without losing too much from what's making us a quality team. Swapping Berggren with Fabbri, or Perron, or even Sprong is one way to ensure your offense doesn't nose dive while still saving a bunch of money. And it's not like the guy can't play, he's really good. I can't say I'll be surprised if he gets traded, but unless the return is significant I don't think it's a great idea.

Vancouver got embarrassed by Boston the other night so I imagine they'll come out flying. Gonna be a good test right off the jump for the boys. We've had a long layoff so I'm worried about our legs in the first period.

I’ve never seen Larkin cry to the refs following a clean hit. I watched McDavid do it for an entire period last night

Two more goals for Emmitt Finnie so far tonight. I don't really know anything about this dude but he's been on one hell of a heater the last month or so.

The Ducks are laying the body on McDavid tonight and he's having an absolute fit. He's quite a player but I'm sooooo tired of these crybaby skill players that run to the refs anytime they get touched. What a puss.

I'd be thrilled if he was as good as Nyquist. Gus is a hell of a player. He scores 40-50 points, but he does it without giving up a ton the other way.

Kasper's goal. Between the legs in tight. Nice skill by the kid. https://x.com/HockeytownWpod/status/1756137098388611140?s=20

I seriously wonder if they just don't like his attitude or something. I remember when we signed Kane, Yzerman said something like "a left handed, skilled, playmaking, winger" is something our organization really needed or something like that. I remember thinking it was odd since that's pretty much exactly why Berggren is.

Didn't we just play Edmonton, Toronto, Florida, Tampa, Dallas, Vegas, and Carolina in the same month? Harder that THAT?

I mean, I obviously agree that for the right return anyone is available. That said, I think Berggren scores 50+ next year on an entry level deal and that's a lot of offense for very little money. I also think he's really developed his two way game. He's never going to be a stud defensive foward, but I think he's roughly as good as Sprong or Debrincat in terms of his defensive effort.

I'll be disappointed if we end up trading Berggren. I really like that he's starting to play with a little swagger. According to Mazur's interview on the Winged Wheel Podcast Berggren talks more trash than any other Griffin on the ice. I'm here for it. Great game by Marco tonight. Unbelievable that the kid was playing professional hockey in the SHL when he had JUST turned 16. He's still 19 years old and he's been playing professional hockey for 4 years.

    Is Patrick Kane bad luck?

I know it's gotta be him, but I think we play bigger with him on the ice. As I said above, I could do without Fabbri.

Tanev is good but old and on an expiring contract. I think he's the kind of a piece that someone like Toronto or Colorado puts in place as a final piece before a Cup run. Even if we make the playoffs this year I think we're still a few years away from really competing. As such, I don't see Tanev being a fit for us.

He's partnered with Zadorov tonight. Nvm, it's because of an in-game injury.

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand why they traded him and I'm not upset that they did. I'm just watching Vancouver and Boston and he's on another level this season .

I agree. But I also think that our overall defensive scheme doesn't really hinge on keeping shot volume low as much as high-danger shot volume low. In which case everyone's possession metrics would be bad (which they are) but our GAA would be good (which it is for all but our December slump) and we'd be winning games (which we are).

I've actually really liked Chiarot this season. I might be wrong but it seems like Lalonde's defensive system really stresses keeping the opposition to the outside, keeping the crease clear, and letting Lyon see shots. He's a good enough fundamental goalie to make saves he can see. If this is the case, then Chiarot has value as a guy who can PK, move bodies from in front, can win battles on the boards, and who can use his skating to advance the puck out of the defensive zone. He definitely blunders from time to time pinching when he shouldn't but I'll take that for everything else he brings. I'd just rather see him paired with someone a little stronger than Petry (although apparently this pair has been quite good at suppressing high-danger chances against).

Whelp, I was hoping Dallas would help us out tonight against Toronto but they just fell apart in the 3rd. At least Tampa lost.
