More and more I'm talking myself into liking a trade for Alex Wennberg. Lalonde says he wants better forechecking in the top six. So trade for Wennberg and put him between Sprong and Perron on the fourth. Move Veleno to the first with Larkin and Dcat, and Raymond to the second with Kane and Compher.

He was fine in the AHL. He was not fine in the NHL. I think he'd likely have failed either way, but more time in the AHL working on his game certainly wouldn't have hurt his chances any. Edit: Also, you really need to stop being a butt sniffer. I say "pud" and then you say it 5 minutes later. Aren't you supposed to be the irritating oppositional guy? Not the "I'm desperate to fit in" guy? Being obnoxious is your higher calling, but not if you're just aping other people. You could be the Sam Kinison of internet trolls, but so far you're content being Carlos Mencia. Do better.

Remember how that pud complained that his linemates in the AHL weren't skilled enough to really maximize his talent? LOL

    2024 TDL Thread

I'm not really sure we can jump from "Berggren didn't sign THIS contract" to "Berggren doesn't want to sign ANY contract". Players reject initial offers all the time. Team offers them a two-year deal, they turn it down because they want three. Team offers a two-way contract, they turn it down because they want a one way deal. If I recall correctly Larkin turned down a few deals before settling in on the one he signed. I DO think it's likely Berggren gets moved, but I already thought that before this "report" came out. Turning down a contract offer doesn't mean anything. I can't imagine Rasmussen put pen to paper on the very first deal Yzerman threw his way either. There's a reason why we have a word for "counter offer".

That's the most pumped I've been for a regular season win in a good long time. What a pass by Larks. Unreal. And unlike Debrincat, Kane doesn't miss lol

Lucas Raymond is turning into an absolute dog. One more offseason in the gym and he'll be a genuine star player.

We are all over these guys. We could easily be winning this game right now. Two post and a few whiffs on wide open nets and this could be 4-1 Detroit. What a frustrating game.

Who do you root for tonight?

Gretzky always said Howe was better than he was. So according to your own arguments Gretzky is now, at best, the fourth best player in league history.

Who do you root for tonight?

    He’s also famously humble.

Who do you root for tonight?

No doubt. Imagine how much more Gretzky would have scored with a composite stick and no two-line passing.

    Rumors Thread

"As the Detroit Red Wings explore the market and look to add non-rental pieces to their roster, young forward Jonatan Berggren remains an asset they are dangling as bait. The 23-year-old is having an outstanding year in the AHL, with 38 points in 37 games to date, and performed well in a brief sting with the big club. But word is he recently rejected a contract extension pitched by the Red Wings and wants a shot at a full-time NHL gig, something he clearly isn’t getting right now in Detroit. Around five teams, including Calgary and Montreal, have expressed interest." https://www.thefourthperiod.com/pagnotta/saros-available-markstrom-chatter-guentzel-talk-pettersson-contract-more

I haven't heard anything that funny since the time I made the exact same joke three minutes before you did. Don't be a follower. Your whole "brand" is being a witty edge lord. Stop sniffing butts, it's pathetic.

Who do you root for tonight?

Gretzky played across multiple eras with multiple "supporting casts". In 1990-91 he scored 163 points (ten better than McDavid's best) at age 30. The next best player on the team was Luc Robitaille, a one-way winger who's career numbers (even at that age) were comparably worse than Draisaitl's. During these two seasons (McDavid's best and Gretzy's best with LA), goals per game were higher in 90-91 but so where save percentages. So if we exclude ALL of Gretzky's best seasons he was still better, for a worse team, in a comparable era at age 30 than McDavid has been in the very best of his prime years.

Who do you root for tonight?

This is silly. You're telling me that McDavid is the best ever because he scores a lot (but doesn't win) on mediocre teams? He has no records, he has no championships. He just scores. Cool. Fine, I'll play along. Forget Edmonton and forget winning. Gretzky's five best seasons with Los Angeles were SO MUCH better than McDavid's five best with Edmonton. If scoring on bad teams makes you the best player ever then Gretzky IS STILL better than McDavid by your own metric. The only thing McDavid does better than Gretzky is skate. He's a better athlete, I'll give you that. In every other conceivable metric he's less accomplished.

Who do you root for tonight?

Saying McDavid is the "best" player is like saying Chara had the "best" shot. McDavid scores a bunch, there's no debate about that. But the point of all competitive sports is to win more, not score more. The history of the league is flush with players who sacrificed scoring for winning. If McDavid doesn't start getting with the program he's going to end up being the Dan Marino of the NHL.

Who do you root for tonight?

That clearly merits some extra attention from the NHL's anti-doping folks. It's not clear that Perry wasn't abusing amphetamines. McDavid certainly LOOKS like he is.
