Babcock praises a lot of guys that he has no intention of playing. He's got nothing but compliments for guys like Jordin Tootoo.

Winnipeg Jets relieve coach Claude Noel and assistant Perry Pearn

I was saying this too, that I'd like Kane, and a couple of guys on this forum who watch him a lot more than I do were saying that he's a really dumb player who takes stupid penalties and isn't nearly as good as his stats indicate. I don't know how true that is or isn't, I was only looking at his physical attributes and his stat line. -

Byfuglien is terrible and Babcock would probably shoot him if he played for our team. However, any of Wheeler, Ladd, or Bogosian would be welcome. I'm curious, if the rumors are true, who we were calling about. -

Rumor site thefourthperiod.com reporting that the Jets are actively shopping Kane and Byfuglien, and listening to calls on Wheeler, Ladd, and Bogosian. Also reporting that their GM has been in discussion with the Wings as well as others. On the hierarchy of rumor reliability this site ranks somewhere miles above Eklund and just below Aaron Ward. So take it for what it's worth. -
Geesh, people are getting pretty worked up over a game in which we just lost 1-0 to one of the best teams in the league...with a depleted roster. Take it easy guys, as far as recent Wings games go, this one is a gem.
-
Because if you say it every game, sooner or later it'll turn out to be true?
-
If you add these two posts to one another you arrive at a mathematical truth.

Beauchemin is one of the league's most underrated defensemen. That guy is a hell of a good hockey player.
-
Missed the first period, how'd we look?
-
I thought we played a hell of a game, particularly given that we have key injuries. While we didn't completely dominate in every regard, we held our own and carried the play for much of the game. The guys seemed to have great tempo, we clearly outskated them for most of the game, and when they started getting chippy we didn't back down. Plus we seemed to get stronger as the game went on. I was very impressed with our team last night.

I love Pacioretty too, but you're right, there's absolutely no friggin' way that Montreal moves him. I was just throwing names out there anyway, I have no idea who's available and who isn't. My whole point with mentioning Kane and Wheeler was just to say that Nyquist's value is high, package him with our first (which we don't need since the draft class is weak and we're bleeding quality prospects anyway) and get someone higher end for him. Plus, you'd still get to keep Tatar, who in spite of Babcock insistence is the better player.
-
That's definitely true, but then again I'd do a happy dance if Kindl produced like the Kings' era Jack Johnson too.
-
Yeah, again, I'll take your word for it because I don't watch Winnipeg as often as you clearly do. And as I said before, I'd definitely prefer Wheeler. Someone said before that he's not available, and while you can never believe rumor sites 100%, there is a lot of chatter about the Jets listening to offers on Wheeler.
-
Well, I'll take your word for it because while I've seen them play a little I'm by no means an avid Jets fan. Though I will say that anybody who scores as often as Kane probably shouldn't be described as having "hammer hands".

This. I was incredibly impressed by Sheahan's backchecking tonight. That stood out to me more than his goal, but kudos to him for crashing the net. Hell of a (two-way) game for this kid tonight. Atta boy.
-
He's definitely good, and that's exactly why I'd trade him. We've got a dearth of playmakers, and his value is still high. I'd move Nyquist + 1st (as a starting point) for one of Winnipeg's big wingers...either Kane or Wheeler (I'd personally rather have Wheeler). But that's just me.
-
Oh yeah? Well I started a thread about it last season, so top that Edit: While I did start a thread last year, I'm only teasing right now. I realize that this post might look like I'm being a d*ck, but I'm really just screwing around.

What makes him awesome is how tenacious he is. In a lot of ways Nyquist is more skilled, but Tatar attacks CONSTANTLY and he's got swagger (which I think our team needs more of). Nyquist is just another skilled (softish) playmaking Euro. Tatar has got moxie, and on a team like ours moxie counts for a lot. I'd trade Nyquist right now if I was Holland. Not because he's bad, but because his value is high (everyone thinks he's the s***) and we'd get a lot for him and still get to keep the better player of the two.
-
Tomas Tatar is better than Gustav Nyquist. Just sayin'. I'd rather lose Nyquist than Tatar by a country mile.

I thought we went on a massive tear after the Olympics in 2010 to make the playoffs?
-
And who wouldn't want to play for Babs? His system stiffles offense, he consistently rewards undeserving players, and you never know who your linemates will be from shift to shift. The guy's a genius.
-
I'll be amazed if this guy ever plays a single game in the NHL. The only positives I've seen attributed to this guy are his size and fighting ability, neither of which are in high demand from our management. I think he gets lost along the way unless he finds another element to his game.

I read an article about him the other day and the gist of it was that while he's scoring pretty well, his defensive game is still pretty poor, which I imagine is why he hasn't been called up.
