"Clitsome's going to the box". C'mon Ken Daniels.
-
I'm curious what face you do make?
-
Well that hurts.
-
Well in spite of everything, Brian Lashoff has looked really good tonight eh?
-
Todd Ber-Tu-Zzi!!!!!

Grrrrreeaat! There are at least five or six guys on the Winnipeg team that I would absolutely love to have on our hockey team. I have no idea why they're as bad as they are.
-
Well I wasn't able to see the first period, but according to Darren Eliot it was horrible. Everyone else's thoughts?
-
I think he has the ability to be a very good winger at the NHL level, but aside from some nifty stickhandling there's not too much of his game that's comparable to Datsyuk. He's bigger, faster, shoots more, is a winger and not a center, and has been compared to Hossa, not Datsyuk. But like I said, I agree with your sentiment.

Look who's keeping pace with Nyquist down in Grand Rapids. Tomas Jurco is going to be the real deal.
-
I was going to find a way to comment on that too, but I've got nothing that can top this. Touche.
-
I could have told you that. I saw him getting loaded in bars in Mt. Pleasant about three times over the last two years.
-
So that's what speed through the neutral zone looks like. Welcome back #43.

You guys have made this thread all about whether Weiss is a more skilled player than Filppula, which I think misses the point. The real concern is whether or not Weiss can be a better player, FOR US, than Filppula was. And in spite of his struggles, I'm not sure that he won't be. He's looking better, and so far this season it's not like anybody else on our team has set the world on fire...to include D and Z. Who cares what Filppula's totals are, we've seen what our teams looks like with him (for several years now) and it didn't win. Time to try something new.

What's a wakeup call, getting the flu?
-
Because he missed the entirety of the third period in last night's game, battling the same flu that had kept him out of the lineup (and the team plane) the game before?
-
Yeah, I'm really pumped in general for team usa, but I definitely want to see Wheeler on there. Guy is all over the place against Chicago. For a while now I"ve been pining for E. Kane. But after watching them for a bit it's pretty clear that Ladd and Wheeler are the bosses on that team. p.s. Don't forget Backes! Callahan, Brown, and Backes. Prepare to get hit every single time you touch the puck.
-
I'm more excited for Darren McCarty's public service announcement. What an impact it will have. "Kids, this is what happens when you make bad decisions (as he steps in front of a mirror)".
-
I'm currently watching Winnipeg and Chicago and if Blake Wheeler isn't on team USA there's a problem. That guy is a serious beast. If Mantha turns out to be a Wheeler type forward I'd be thrilled. Dude is big, fast, and has a killer shot.

Are you using the term "benched" simply to mean that he's not playing, or are you suggesting that Franzen isn't playing tonight because the coach "benched him" for poor play?
-
He'll predictably downplay how pointless it all was, try to deflect some of the responsibility away from the players and onto the management or the "code", and ultimately use it to make some semi-intelligible point to "the kids" about honor. Also predictably, it's going to make me want to puke when I see it.

So your only is problem is that Holtby got beat up TOO BAD? You don't think it's a little silly that he had to fight at all, considering he didn't start anything, nothing illegal happened, and he didn't want to do it in the first place? Why should Holtby get punched, even one time, because Philadelphia can't play defense? They should let Emery punch the Philly defense, and if that doesn't work then punch Berube...and then Holmgren. This is stupid.
-
Weiss set Cleary up beautifully twice. Gotta be a drag for Weiss.
-
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stupid. Wanna know the best way to get fighting out of the game? Make sure every fight is pointless (Orr vs. Parros) or barbaric (Emery vs. Holtby). Not a single fight in this very short NHL season has been necessary. As a matter of fact, wanna know what fight would have been necessary? The one where some Washington goon went out to protect his goalie who was getting pummeled by Ray Emery and didn't want to fight. What's that? Such a fight never happened? I rest my case.
-
That line earned it. They've been good in the third. It's crazy what line chemistry will do.
-
How about giving Weiss a winger who can shoot, you know, so that he'll score something this year?
