Ugh, why are the Sedins on against our 4th line?
-
Well you can't win em all. Mark this down along with that time Anna Kournikova totally made you look like a fool for not putting gum in her hair. There's still egg on your face for that one.
-
It would be really sweet if he'd grow the mullet back out for the occasion.
-
Are you both good looking women with loose morals and the uncanny ability to produce gourmet cheeses, smoked meats, and mustards upon demand? If not, then I'm out.
-
I'm not even sure what this means? So I'm going to guess for fun. Subban makes... one ugly foreigner look like another ugly foreigner. one guy not known for his work ethic look like another guy not known for his work ethic. a guy who doesn't play defense well look like a guy who doesn't play defense at all. a terrible actor look like a terrible dancer.

Chelios is a candy*ss. Watch him get demolished by some sissy nobody's ever heard of...
-
Well on the plus side, at least Babcock pulled his head out of his ass and decided not to play with the lines he's been using in practice all week. Then again, he'll probably switch it up if we're down a goal after the first.
-
Priceless, you've genuinely blossomed into my favorite poster around here. Keep up the good work.

If you cross reference team in the league who are in playoff contention, with those that are middle of the pack in goal scoring, and who have a lot of cap space you're left with a handful of teams that COULD be willing to take a gamble on Sammy. Especially considering his salary will be prorated so they'll end up paying him less than his 3 million. Among these teams are Nashville, Ottawa, and Calgary. If you add in teams with significant injury troubles (admittedly I haven't looked for these) you've got another factor. Power play troubles...another. Overall young team...another. I'm not saying that he'll definitely get picked up. But to say he has no value is more a commentary on your feelings about Sammy, and less about his potential worth. Particularly in a league which saw the New York Islander's trade for Tim Thomas specifically so he WOULDN'T play hockey. Value is relative to each specific club, and there are 29 others besides the Detroit Red Wings.
-
Why?
-
No. If he had a no movement clause he couldn't be waived. As is, he's got a no trade, which has nothing to do with waivers.
-
You don't have to leave a guy in the minors if he clears waivers. Remember prior to the first game? Emmerton was waived and cleared, and then immediately brought back up to the big club for opening night. Waive Sammy, if he clears great, if he doesn't put him right back on the Wing's roster and it will be like nothing had changed. No harm, no foul.
-
Well if Sammy was waived, and he cleared, we'd only have 100k against the cap, so it wouldn't be enough to recall Nyquist. Even so, there's still no harm whatsoever in waiving him just to see what happens.
-
Here's what I don't understand with Sammy. Why not just waive him? If he doesn't get claimed then you can just put him right back on the roster, like they did with Emmerton. Why not just see what happens?

I'm so irritated with the Wings' recent performances that I'm sitting here thinking of the most insane possible ways to improve the team. Not Dan Cleary to the first line insane, but insane none the less. When you start thinking that unproven prospects couldn't possibly be worse than your established roster, things have gone badly.
-
Mrazek could be the number one guy in five years after Howard's contract is up? You think he's going to stick around as a backup for that long?
-
You're definitely right, and my frustration with Babs' and his lines may be causing me to be slightly reactionary. However, I would point out that so far this season, every lineup Babs has used in practice has seen at least one game before being changed. So there is some reason to believe he'll give it the old college try.
-
You're preaching to the converted. I've been calling for Z to play on Weiss' wing for quite a while now. But Bab's sees it differently. This team needs Weiss to produce, and what better way to ensure that than by burying him on the fourth line with Tootoo and whomever.
-
I totally agree, but he's got the MUCH heftier price tag. All things being equal though, Vanek is the better player.
-
I'm sure Babs has some b.s. excuse for it. "He's earned my trust" or "he's heavy on the puck" or "he's a gamer". Something of the like. Nevermind his productivity or skill level. He's a real heart and soul guy.
-
Yep. Sorta makes you feel like throwing up in your mouth huh?
-
Eaves was practicing today, as was Helm. Eaves was on a line with Andersson and Bertuzzi, and Helm was rotating in with the top six. Don't know when either of them will play, but Eaves is likely back before Helm.
-
Franzen and Miller are both hurt.
-
Why do you think that?
-
Yep, Babs is there everyday...and that has led him to believe that it's best to have Dan Cleary on our top line. Ugh.
