Titanchad Tort's Toolbags Vs Loser Lalonde's Lackadaisicals

Larkin is so damn good. He was drafted as a guy with good wheels and decent two-way play and he's turned himself into a genuine offensive force.

Am I crazy or is Maatta not as slow as he was billed when he came to this team? I mean, he doesn't play with a ton of pace but his actual skating isn't all that bad right?

    New New Prospects Thread

Cossa was solid again last night. He’s been really really good lately. May never be the best goalie in terms of individual skill, but he’s learning to play well in a defensive system and make the stops he needs to make when he does finally get tested. This is really good news for the Wings.

    Red Wings Fired AL Sobotka

The Americans with Disabilities Act requires employers to provide "reasonable accommodations" to persons with disabilities. If your coworker had reported his disability to HR they would likely have given him more frequent bathroom breaks or a desk job near a bathroom or something like that. What you're not allowed to do is...whatever you want...and then blame your disability after the fact. The fact that he was "let go" or "retired" or whatever shows that he didn't arrange for reasonable accommodation under the ADA because if he had it would have been illegal to terminate him. The same is true for Al Sobatka.

Does your boss "have it out" for you because of your age?

It doesn't matter if it were a secluded broom closet. You're not allowed to pee wherever you want at work. I can't believe we don't all agree on this.

    Red Wings Fired AL Sobotka

Okay, here me out. If you worked in an office building and you found a coworker urinating in the hallway because he had "prostate issues", what do you think should happen to him? What about if he were urinating in the break room at a Target? Or in the corner of the aerobics room at Planet Fitness? Even if Al Sabotka were the employee of the year for 50 straight years he still should be fired for pulling his dick out and peeing in an area not designated for it. He didn't need to do anything beyond what we already know about for it to be a fire-able offense.

Zadina didn't "ruin our franchise". Mantha, Svech,Cholo, AND Zadina hurt us pretty bad though. If we hadn't drafted Larkin (and to a lesser extent Rasmussen) during that period it would have been absolutely abysmal. That run, more than anything else, got Holland fired. You can't miss on that many first round picks.

    Real Goalie Talk

That's more or less my take on it too. Goalies age better because it's not as hard on their bodies. I started thinking about it because I was reading an article about John Gibson being under contract for two more years (he's 30 now) and thought "that contract SHOULD age just fine". But maybe my take is all wrong.

    Real Goalie Talk

Do you guys think that in general goalies tend to be better into their 30s than forwards and defensemen? Like, is it more likely that an average goalie will still be playing at an average level into his 30s than an average forward/defenseman?

Dallas Restars vs Detroit Earning Their Red Wings

Yep, we need to go for it. This team is playing too well to let them flounder for another offseason. They need to be playing playoff hockey. Seider needs it, Raymond needs it, and Larkin REALLY needs it.

Dallas Restars vs Detroit Earning Their Red Wings

Yeah, agreed. When we're going we're a better team than them. We just can't get lazy. Good to see Debrincat face the music in that presser and own up to losing his man on that first goal in the 2nd period.

Dallas Restars vs Detroit Earning Their Red Wings

Yep, we probably at least deserved a point for that performance. Hopefully that gets the boys dialed back in because they were sloppy in the 2nd.

Dallas Restars vs Detroit Earning Their Red Wings

Realistically we don't. We'd probably have to find someone in free agency. I think you can safely predict Edvinsson and ASP as top four defensemen. It's starting to look like you've really got something in Johansson too. Outside of that I'd give Wallinder and Tuomisto better than even odds of making it but it's not clear they'd be better than worst of those guys.

Dallas Restars vs Detroit Earning Their Red Wings

The prime aged players on this team are all horses and all on pretty good contracts. Compher, Walman, Sprong, Fischer, Kostin, Ras, Dcat, Larkin are all playing really really well. The fact that we've got the prospects coming that we do makes me have a lot of faith in the direction of this team. We could lose Petry, Chiarot, Perron, Gost, Holl, Maatta, Fabbri, and Copp and still be in really good shape going forward.

Dallas Restars vs Detroit Earning Their Red Wings

There's going to be a fight in the 2nd period. Larkin and Benn were jawing a bit and Dallas is getting outplayed. Kostin vs. Benn might not be a pipedream.

It was exclusively tied to his size. Hughes was known for elite skating and offense, but there were questions about whether he'd be able to defend against NHL players. If you look at the top defensemen in that draft you can kinda see a pattern. Dahlin was ranked the highest because he had the offense, skating, AND size to defend. Bouchard was consistently ranked next highest because he had the offense and the size but not the skating. Hughes and Boqvist were interchageably ranked next because both had skating and offense but were not considered strong defenders.
