Not a lot of info from the game, he had three shots on goal though.

Carter Mazur making his AHL debut tonight with the Griffins. Over/under on how long it takes for him to become a fan favorite?
-
Do you have a source for this? Edit: Nevermind, I found it.

Rogle staved off elimination today on the back of Marco Kasper's 3 pt. game. He'd been relatively quiet during the playoffs but this was a big time performance in an elimination game for Rogle.
-
I wish we didn't need a top center so bad because I'd love to see the Wings draft Colby Barlow. He's got Tkachuk Bros. vibes and I'm here for it. The thought of Mazur-Kasper-Barlow absolutely tickles my pickle.

When Edvinsson went back to the bench and the trainer was checking him out they were both poking and prodding his hip area. I'm trying to find footage of it now but they showed it on the telecast last night.
-
He didn’t get hit in the knee, it was his upper thigh/hip area that took the impact on that play.
-
Edvinsson looked awesome yesterday. He makes defensive stops all over the ice and he’s definitely not shy about jumping into the offensive zone. He’s acquitted himself well so far at the NHL level. Can’t wait to see how he looks next season.
-
Not much of a game, but Edvinsson looks really solid defensively.

I wouldn't hate this as long as we nabbed a center with upside with the 2nd first rounder. Someone like Riley Heidt or Calum Ritchie. Another option is to take a center with the top pick and RHD Alex Sandin-Pellikka with the later pick.

Zadina Just Missed A Wide Open Net _Vs Hawks_GDT
kipwinger replied to The 91 of Ryans's topic in General
I'm not buying that. Teams (including the Red Wings) get offensively competent players in the 2nd and 3rd rounds all the time. Irrespective of when he was drafted it's not unreasonable to expect Zadina to be sorta good at the thing he was drafted to be good at. When Veleno was drafted his offensive upside was limited and his defensive game had some higher ceiling. Not surprisingly that's what he looks like today and nobody is bothered too much by his lack of offense. Berggren was a high offense/low defense player at the draft and not surprisingly nobody criticizes him for sucking at defense now. Zadina is not a good defensive player. His defensive metrics are amongst the worst on the team the last two years. But nobody cares about that, and shouldn't, because he wasn't drafted for his defensive profile. He was drafted because he could (supposedly) score...which he obviously can't. You seem to be suggesting that he's some Darren Helm type bottom six checking winger - which he's definitely not - but even if he was nobody should be happy getting a 4th line winger in the 2nd round when you can basically get them for league minimum in UFA. Take a look at Alex Chiasson. -
Zadina Just Missed A Wide Open Net _Vs Hawks_GDT

Zadina just missed the net on a breakaway. Unreal. -
I can't speak about "gamers", but a number of teams have nights designated for specific races and ethnicities as part of the very same "hockey is for everyone" initiative that sponsors "pride night". Dallas just had "Noche Mexicana" a week or so ago, and Chicago celebrated "black history night" about three weeks ago...complete with specially designed sweaters. As far as I know none of the players chose not to participate in those promotions...likely because the religious institutions to which they pledge their allegiance don't designated black or hispanic people as sinners...anymore.
-
I knew what you meant, but I'm not sure you know what I mean. Pride night/parades/parties/initiatives/etc. aren't aimed at "changing anyone's minds". They're not for people that steadfastly believe homosexuality is a sin. They're for everyone else. It's about recognizing that these people exist, that they're members of our communities, that they're welcome and supported...because historically they haven't been. Nobody gives a sh*t about some fan sitting at home on pride night raging against the "LGBTQ Agenda" or whatever.
-
It's probably quite a lot of guys TBH. Athletes aren't notoriously "progressive" people.
-
There's a comedian, can't remember which one, that has a bit about this. Something like, everyone in the country is either a "r*tard" or a "p*ssy". Maybe making people declare which team they're on is the solution.
-
The goal of those types of events, aside from filling the stands, isn't to make racists "go away". The goal is to normalize the idea that homosexual people exist and are welcome in society. That's a different goal than military appreciation nights. One is geared toward celebrating the service that military personnel have rendered. The other is about ensuring that certain citizens aren't discriminated against or marginalized because of their sexual preference (as has often been the case in America).
-
This entire debate is idiotic. Nobody is making anyone be "pro-LGBTQ". How do I know? Because Provorov and the Wild chose not to participate and literally nothing happened to them. The NHL comes up with promotional events and players can participate if they choose to. It's that simple. In today's climate everybody's dying to make it seem like the other side is oppressing them, but that's not the case here. It wasn't the case with Bertuzzi. And it won't be the case whenever the next team wears camo sweaters to "support the troops" or whatever other dumb sh*t the NHL comes up with to put butts in the stands for a week night game in February. Players will kneel, they'll choose not to get vaccinated, they'll wear their usual warmup jerseys, etc. etc. etc. and literally nothing will happen to them.

Cossa is right where he should be and is developing awesomely. He'll be in GR next season and depending on how he plays he'll be considered for a call up in the event of injuries. I have no problem with anything SY and company have done vis-a-vis Cossa. Many folks around here said "just wait until he gets some professional coaching" and it's starting to look like they were right. Better coaches and lots of reps and he's now dominating a professional men's league and he just turned 20 years old a few months ago. This is absolutely a win for the organization and it's clear that management isn't going to mishandle the guy at this point.

Marco "No Skill" Kasper with a faceoff win and SICK assist through a defender's legs for a goal yesterday. This dude is such a boss.
-
Like I said, he's done everything you could ask of him, so my only questions about him are quality of competition issues that he's not responsible for. But there have been plenty of players over the years that put up insane numbers at lower levels and then fizzle out as the QoC gets better (Pulkkinen, Frk). But Lombardi has the brains and the skating to succeed, and he's still growing (1 inch and 10 lbs since the draft), so I'm optimistic.
-
Lombardi is a fantastic prospect, as much as you could possibly hope for from a 4th round pick, but I'd stop short of saying he's one of our top guys in the organization...yet. And that's not because he did anything wrong. It's just that the OHL is a garbage league. I keep track of all the Flint scores and they're routinely scoring 6-10 goals per game. Now, bear in mind that it's (often) Lombardi doing the scoring and not someone else, so that's a good thing, but until he shows he can score in a league where defense matters then I'm going to take his production with a grain of salt. But he can only play in the league he's in, so I don't fault him. He'll be in the AHL next year and that'll be a better indication of his upside.
-
I genuinely thought we'd get a 3rd or a 4th for Vrana. At the end of the day he's still a very young, very talented scorer. Goes to show what I know. Must be everyone in the league knows the backstory on him. While I wouldn't be surprised if Zadina gets moved, he looked pretty good last night and we'll need warm bodies for the rest of the season so I'm not expecting it. I do think we'll take on someone's bad contract before the end of the day. Lots of people speculating that Toronto wants to ditch a defenseman now that they've acquired about 3 of them. I wouldn't mind nabbing TJ Brodie to fill Hronek's shoes.

Typical drunken cis man. Trying to man-splain my own sexuality to me. It's getting late bud, better power down a few more brewskies before it's time to pass out on whatever whale you're sharing a bed with tonight. -
I literally just said I use it when I f*ck. I'm clearly not ashamed.
