I don't think Walman gets traded unless the return is obviously too good to turn down. I think his emergence makes Maatta expendable though. Early this season there was a pretty solid chorus of folks saying Maatta was a no brainer to re-sign. I don't think that's the case now.

Maybe he doesn't "hate those people". Maybe he just doesn't feel like being a champion for their lifestyle by wearing a shirt promoting that behavior. Choosing not to endorse someone else's sexuality is not the same thing as hating them for it. Hate the sin, not the sinner...or something like that. Likewise, I don't think that dudes like Colin Kaepernick "hate America" because he chose not to stand for the national anthem. These conversations are much more nuanced than that. We just happen to live in a world where nobody cares about stupid crap like ambiguity.

I'll pose this question here for lack of better options. The Walman-Seider pairing seems to be working. Can anyone explain why Maatta and Hronek aren't back together? That was arguably our best pairing for the first 20 games and Lalonde won't put them back together and there doesn't seem to be any real reason not to. Chiarot and Hronek aren't better than Maatta and Hronek were, and the 3rd pair (Maatta-Oesterle) isn't any more or less of a difference maker than Chiarot-Oesterle would be. I don't get it.

Ras-Larkin-Raymond Berggren-Copp-Perron Kubalik-Veleno-Fabbri Erne-Suter-Sundqvist Really big fan of these forward lines. Hoping this will spark a little offense out of the boys. Also looking forward to getting a good look at Timo Meier, who I think would be a great trade deadline move.

Big Ras out here getting all sorts of love from his coach in the papers today. And Mickey and Ken wouldn't shut up about Berggren last night. We're starting to get some young players rounding into real difference makers here. This can only be good for the team. I think it's easy for fans, myself included, to think that progress for this team means bringing in new pieces. And we definitely need a few. But the growth from guys like Berggren, Ras, Walman, and Veleno are going to pay off massively as we keep getting better.

The pearl clutching by the pod guys was the annoying part. Is there anybody in the world who doesn't know that Christianity has a pretty hard a fast rule against homosexuality? Next they'll ask Ivan Provorov to wear a Planned Parenthood jersey, and when he also won't do that then I"m sure the Winged Wheel guys will have a fit of the vapors. Look, I think religion is stupid. Like REALLY stupid. It's a dumb worldview for dumber people. But religious people exist, they have since forever, and we all know exactly what they believe. Acting offended that a religious guy won't be an LGBTQ activist when his religion very explicitly prohibits homosexuality is...wait for it...almost as dumb as believing there's a man in the sky who cares which people you f*ck.

Watching the Hawks vs. Canucks right now and the Blackhawks coach just sent out a line of Kane-Max Domi-Athanasiou for a defensive zone faceoff. Anybody wanna guess whether they won the faceoff and cleared the zone? Lol. Talk about tanking.

Two point game for Ras, and Berggren set up about 2,000 scoring chances that his various linemates just couldn't finish off. Big win against a bad team, I'll take it.

Lucas Raymond is slow. Like, pretty slow. Whoever taught Rasmussen to skate needs to move into Raymond’s house for a year or two.

He actually looked really good last night. Slow as he is he’s still pretty effective on the forecheck. Looked a little like Sundqvist, but then be beat the sh*t out of that guy and I remembered the big difference between him and Sundqvist.

He still sucks. What else you looking for? Half-joking aside, I saw an article today that said when he returns he will be trying a new curve on his stick. Normally I'd roll my eyes, but Hronek did the same thing in the offseason and his shooting accuracy seems to have improved. I think he's day to day at this point, should be in the lineup as soon as tomorrow.

Lucic genuinely looks like Frankenstein on skates...kinda plays like him too I'd imagine.

I secretly love this Calgary team. They're a bunch of badasses. Kadri is mean as hell, and borderline dirty. Coleman, Taffoli, and Mangiapane are essentially three Tyler Bertuzzis. I even enjoyed old man Lucic beating the piss out of Mathieu Olivier (who stood in there gave a few too). I love that they cheered for Johnny Gaudreau during his appreciation package on the jumbo screen and then booed him every single other time he touched the puck. This team rules.

I've been watching a bunch of the late games lately and I'm seeing tons of guys I've never really appreciated. One name on the list, Rasmus Andersson for the Flames. That guy is a f*cking horse. He's a beast all over the ice. I'm not even sure why I am posting it in this thread because Calgary would be insane to trade him.

I'm not really sure I understand the attitude vis-a-vis Larkin around here. The guy's in the 90th percentile in almost every measurable analytic category, offense and defense. He was last year too. The only thing that has stopped him from being a 80-90 point center the last two years has been injuries. I could understand if the argument was "Larkin needs to be injured less", to which the answer might be to get another center to lighten his load. But I don't understand the "we're never going to win with Larkin" crowd. This guy is really really good. He has never played with a legit top line winger in his career and last year our 2C was Pius Suter. Pretty easy for defenses to key on the guy.

For sure, they've only got three Cups. It's not like there are a million legacy Avs fans leftover from the 90s spread all over the country. Remember during the glory days when there was always one guy who'd rock Avs gear in Michigan like a complete f*cking pud? The team was like 5 years old and suddenly every town in Michigan had some dude with really vague connections to Colorado who "always loved the Avs" and was definitely not being contrarian or anything.
