Soderblom played his first game with Frolunda of the SuperElit yesterday, and scored 4 goals. The 3rd goal was really nice. Crazy reach and silky mitts for such a big kid.

I'd rather assume for now that one of Larsson, Eliasson or Petruzzelli emerge as a number one goaltender, of trade for one later on. I know a lot of people believe that you should build from the goaltender out, but I believe the opposite to be honest. Besides, goaltending is such a crap shoot. It's a lot harder to predict where a goalie will be in 3-5 years at 18, than it is to predict where any skater position will be in 3-5 years at 18...

The last thing I think this team should do is take a goaltender with a top 10 pick in next year's draft...

Dallas went ahead 4-2. Kuffner and Veleno score to tie it up. 8 minutes to go. Veleno again, makes it 5-4!

All things you could only say after actually watching the games... For what it's worth though, I don't think Seider looked THAT superior out there, but he was definitely one of the better players on the ice in each game. I believe the same to be true of Veleno too though. It's not the 5 goals that make me say that either. I'm more impressed with how responsible he is defensively, while also being able to produce offensively. He's been far and away our best forward. I'm really looking forward to the game coming up in a half hour, but even more than that, training camp and pre-season...

First, there's no "egg on our collective faces" with anything to do with Zadina. Only a select few thought he would step into the NHL last season and dominate. Most people knew he'd need some time in the minors to develop. My opinion on Zadina hasn't really changed a whole lot since we drafted him. Nor should it have. Second, who cares if we overhype a player, and end up being "wrong"? I don't necessarily think Seider is a lock to be a number one defenseman, but I do think he has all the tools to be a very solid top pairing defenseman. If he comes up short, and only ends up being a middle pairing defenseman, it would really suck. But it would suck because we used a 6th overall pick on a 2nd pairing defenseman, not because we were wrong in or initial projection of him. Who really gives a s***? I don't. I'd personally rather wrongfully think that Jurco is going to be a very good 2nd line winger, than wrongfully think that Zadina is going to be a complete bust... But that's just me...

In other words, do not discuss any prospect until they reach at least the AHL...

Yzerman will somehow end up with THREE 2020 1st round picks... One top 3, another top 15, and another late 20's...

I hear ya, and it is a little disappointing that he hasn't scored a goal *yet* in this tournament, but 5 assists (4 primary) in 3 games isn't anything to scoff at either. Zadina has clearly been gripping the stick a little too tightly. He'll figure it out. Veleno was saying how he's known to be a goal scorer, but his playmaking ability is very underrated. I tend to agree with this. We need goal scorers, but we have a few players on the team currently that have proven to be more than capable. If Zadina can be a 60-70 point guy (I think he will), I don't really care if he puts up 40G-30A or 30G-40A... Yes, on his 2nd of the night...

Hopefully we'll be debating whether or not we should take another left-handed winger (Lafreniere) 1st overall... Yes. Yes, we should.

That's fine. I enjoy watching Mortiz Seider, Joe Veleno, and Filip Zadina beat up on other teams' top prospects. Just know that we know these games mean very little in the grand scheme of things. It doesn't make it any less enjoyable to watch, or fun to hype these players. Seider is going to be an elite number one defenseman. Better than Josi and Hedman combined. Veleno is going to be one of the best 2nd line centers in the league. As good as Larkin is now. Zadina is going to be an elite top line sniper. Better than Kucherov. Pearson is going to be the best bottom six center in the league. Better than peak Helm (according to Babcock)...

You need twice as many high end defensemen (top 4) than you do high end centers (top 2). Also, we have one more established high end center (Larkin) than we do established high end defensemen (0). I'm high on (Seider), Hronek Cholowski and McIsaac, but there's still no guarantee any of them will be legit top pair defensemen, let alone number one defensemen. Lindstrom, Kaski and Regula may or may not even be regular NHLers. As a prospect I'd put Veleno ahead of all of those players, with the exception of maybe Hronek. Prior to this draft, our center depth could use a shot in the arm, but no more than our defense in my opinion. I think you're the one not following here... You pretty much reiterated what I just said, minus one key point (question)... Do you really think there were players available at 6 that Yzerman and co thought were better than Seider, but picked the lesser player anyway?
