  1. Yeah, pretty much. Except for Zadina. I think he'll start the season in Detroit.
  2. Get the f*** outta here with all that negative s***...

    Re-alignment

Switch Buffalo and Philadelphia. I don't like the idea of cutting the season down to 72 games. How about 80 games?... 80 game regular season. Play each team in your division 8 times. 4 home and 4 away. 24 games. Play each team in the opposite division of your conference 6 times. 3 home and 3 away. 24 games. Play each team in the other conferences 2 times. 1 home and 1 away. 32 games.
  4. Completely agree with everything here, except the buy-out part. I agree that any of the guys with two or more years left would be a mistake, but Daley or Ericsson, with only one year remaining, wouldn't cost much at all short-term or long-term. It's not about saving cap space, because we should have plenty over the next two seasons, but we need roster spots freed up on the back end sooner than later. If we could trade one of them, retaining salary, even better. But if not, I'd be totally fine with a buy-out on one of them (preferably Daley). We currently have Green, DeKeyser, Daley, Ericsson and maybe Kronwall. In my opinion, Hronek, Cholowski, Bowey all need full time spots in the lineup, and I'd really take a run at Adam Fox as well.
  5. I'm much more excited about the "Official 2020 Offseason Rebuild Thread", but here goes... Steve Yzerman becomes General Manager Ken Holland becomes President of Hockey Ops. 6. Goaltending is such a crap shoot, but we have plenty of good to really good young goaltender prospects. That being said, I wouldn't consider Sateri or even Rybar prospects. They're both too old (29 and 25 respectively), and are what they are at this point (career minor leaguers). I was hopeful that Fulcher would be able to develop into something, and although he's still very young (20), especially for a goaltender, I doubt he ever develops into an NHL quality starter. Petruzzelli is the same age, but I'm a little more optimistic about him, if for no other reason than the draft day hype... I've never really been that high on Van Pottelberghe (21), and it looks like he will be (or maybe already is) a free agent (unsigned). I'd put Brattstrom (22) in that same category as well. Probably won't amount to much. The TWO goaltenders that I'm most excited about are Larsson (20) and Eliasson (19). Both are putting up huge numbers in their respective leagues, and although still very young, look like they could become quality NHL goaltenders in the not so distant future. I'm all for a Swedish goalie tandem in 3-5 years from now. Hopefully one of them can become the next "King" Filip or "King" Jesper...
  7. Well... THEY SHOULD! F*** Sateri. F*** Rybar. Larsson is king s***!
  8. Any way he can play this season in the playoffs? The Griffs goaltending has been BAD down the stretch... Sateri has been mediocre at best all season, and Rybar has been pretty solid for the most part, but awful the past few games. He let in 3 goal on 3 shots last game and 10 goals on 28 shots in his last 2 games combined...

Going out in round 2 compared to going out in round 1? Yes it would.

    Irrational = without reason.
  11. Well that's where we disagree. Parity (or at least the attempt to create parity) isn't going anywhere. Nor should it...

NYI vs PIT - Series Thread

Agree to disagree I guess. I probably just don't (irrationally) hate the Pens (and Crosby) as much as some Wings fans though... But then again, I'm on kinda on that level with the Leafs, and I'd still rather the outcome that benefits the Wings over one that would hinder the Leafs (or any team)...

NYI vs PIT - Series Thread

I don't give a s*** about any of that. I care about the Red Wings, and the Pens winning this series would benefit the Red Wings.

And then they would likely screw with ours in 2-3 years time...

    2019 Draft

Well, I suppose any player can play any position, but I haven't seen him listed as a center anywhere. Regardless, I agree, I'd definitely take a long hard look at him at 35, if he's available, depending on who else slips. I'm still hoping Newhook continues to fall. He could be our Veleno pick this year...

    2019 Draft

    Isn't Brink a winger?
  17. Which defeats the whole purpose of "parity". You want the bad teams to have an advantage in hopes that they will eventually get better. Of course bad management sometimes trumps the addition of great players, but that's on the organization to fix, not the league. Anyway, I hate the lottery. Always have. Something needs to change, and I think it will in the next CBA. I'd like to see some sort of variation of the "Gold Plan" implemented. We'll see...

    2019 Draft

Dach seems like a right-handed Rasmussen to me (big body, average skater, average shot, great hands) which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but wouldn't be my pick at 6. I didn't love Ras at 9 in 2017, and I wouldn't be thrilled with Dach at 6 in 2019... Pro: right-handed shot. Con: his name is Kirby. Same, but unfortunately, I doubt he'll be available at 35...

NYI vs PIT - Series Thread

All Wings fans do. But why does it matter when they lose? I don't give a s*** if they get past the first round, especially if them getting past the first round (Islanders losing) benefits the Red Wings...

Great point. Go Pens! I hope they lose in the next round against WSH / CAR.
  22. Yeah, I'm sure you could find flaws in any system. However, some systems are more flawed than others. In my opinion, the "Gold Plan" makes the most sense / has the least flaws. That's MY point... In what world is giving every team one lottery ball the most fair way to do it? That makes no sense... In 50 years you would likely have some teams that have not won it once, and others that have won it multiple times...
  23. 2015 was the last draft that had a true generational talent. Boston and Los Angeles were bubble teams that didn't make the playoffs. They didn't tank to have a 20% chance to draft Connor McDavid. What makes you think they would "strategically" tank early, only to turn it on once they were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs? Better question, what makes you think that strategy would even work? There would still be no guarantee they'd get the player. They'd still have to win the majority of their games down the stretch. At least the "Gold Plan" promotes winning, rather than the current bulls*** system... So, to answer your question, no, I don't think any teams (owners, general managers, coaches, players) would consider phoning it in for most of the season, to hope to be able to turn it on, and win enough games later in the season...

    2019 Draft

A lot of people do. He's being compared by some to Getzlaf. Not the fleetest of foot, but high hockey IQ, good shot and a phenomenal passer. I wouldn't hate if we drafted him, but he's like 4th or 5th on my list outside of the two that we now have no chance at... That's my hope as well, but I'm kind of thinking both will be gone before 6, unfortunately... But hey, ya never know. Bigger names have dropped further...
