    2019 Draft

I say f*** the lottery altogether. If the league has to have a lottery system, have it so no team can move up or down more than a spot or two based on the above model. I think this would actually benefit those s***ty teams anyway. The odds of a team playing more games and getting the most / more points to pick 1st overall / top 3 is higher than having an 18.5% / 49.4% chance in a lottery... It also guarantees that the teams that just miss the playoffs on the last few games of the regular season, don't have a chance to pick top 3.

    2019 Draft

Not sure how many people have heard of the "Gold" Standings to determine draft position, that has been making it's rounds on social media, but I personally love the idea. So basically the way it works is teams start accumulating point once they are officially eliminated from the playoffs. So the bottom teams that are eliminated earlier, get a head start on gaining points, but it promotes winning right up until the final game, rather than this "tanking" bulls***. This is how the draft would go, based on this season's standings... OTT - 13 GP - 12 PTS - 3rd overall pick DET - 12 GP - 16 PTS - 1st overall pick LAK - 10 GP - 13 PTS - 2nd overall pick NJD - 10 GP - 9 PTS - 4th overall pick NYR - 8 GP - 7 PTS - 6th overall pick BUF - 8 GP - 5 PTS - 9th overall pick FLA - 5 GP - 8 PTS - 5th overall pick ANA - 4 GP - 6 PTS - 7th overall pick VAN - 4 GP - 5 PTS - 8th overall pick PHI - 4 GP - 0 PTS - 15th overall pick CHI - 3 - GP - 4 PTS - 10th overall pick EDM - 3 GP - 2 PTS - 12th overall pick MIN - 2 GP - 0 PTS - 14th overall pick MTL - 1 GP - 2 PTS - 11th overall pick ARI - 1 GP - 0 PTS - 13th overall pick ... and no, I'm not just saying I like this model because Detroit would be picking 1st overall. I just hate seeing fans cheer for losses for a percentage in a f***ing lottery... It's stupid.

    2019 Draft

No. The Avs only have two first round picks. Ottawa's, which will be 1-4, and their own, which will be 16-31. Sakic has done a decent job in Colorado, but no way he'd go to Detroit, and no way would most Red Wings fans want him. Besides, the other (better) number 19 will be here soon enough...

    2019 Draft

You don't think Colorado have a chance against Calgary? I think they do. I hope the Flames sweep them, but wouldn't be surprised if it goes the distance. The Avs may even pull it out.

    The 18/19 Playoffs Bandwagon thread

As long as Leafs lose, I'm happy. Bandwagon? That would be Winnipeg for me. I've always liked the Western Canadian teams, but the Jets have been my 2nd favorite team the past few years. Really like the way that team is built.

    2019 Draft

That's not right either... The highest they will pick is 16. They could pick anywhere between 16-31, depending on how they do in the playoffs.

    Buyout

If it were up to Ken Holland I would probably agree. However, I think that decision will be Steve Yzerman's to make, and as we've seen in Tampa, he has no problem making tough decisions getting rid of players, no matter how long they've been with the organization or what they've done in the past. Martin St. Louis spent his whole career in Tampa (minus a few games at the beginning of his career in Calgary), and Yzerman shipped him off to New York, because his team was heading in a different direction. If he can do that with a future Hall-of-famer, I'm sure he'd have no problem doing it with a scrub like Abdelkader...

    2019 Draft

Yes they did. Squeaked in as the 2nd wild card, playing Calgary first round. And they have a good shot at drafting Hughes or Kakko...

    2019 Draft

Yeah, it's getting very frustrating. He has the speed to beat every defender in the league wide, but he chooses to (try to) go through them rather than around them every f***ing time... He's done it successfully, what? 4 or 5 times maybe? That would still only put him at a 0.7% success rate...

    2019 Draft

"so calm down"... It really is too bad that you didn't get the "pleasure" of watching your team lose... Not a single person thinks this team is a lock to make the playoffs next season. Certainly not based on a two week stretch. I do think we're headed in the right direction though, and I think we'll see improvement from last season to next.

    2019 Draft

You really think that was "the real Wings" last night? I'm betting on at least one of the Red Wings, Sabres, or Rangers moving into the top three. Let's hope that loss didn't cost us too much in the draft lottery... I wouldn't count on it...

    2019 Draft

It would be frustrating for sure, but for me, there are 4 or 5 players I'd be thrilled to get in the 4-7 spots, so it won't matter much to me. Cozens, Byram, Zegras or Turcotte would be great adds. Hughes or Kakko would be amazing. Podkolzin would be good as well.

    2019 Draft

Can't f***ing wait! I just want to know where we're drafting at this point. I think we'll win one of the top three lottery slots. If not, I'd be happy with pretty much anyone in the consensus top 7.
  14. Fulcher has to be nervous, but his rebound control has been atrocious...
  15. Nah, watching this s***show for some reason... I have been flicking over and watched a couple of the Poehling goals during commercials / intermissions though... Going to miss Bob Cole for sure.
  16. Habs playoff hopes died last night... The Leafs Habs game means nothing.
  17. I just want Mick to win Light the Lamp...
  18. Chelios and McIlrath... woof...
  19. Such a dumb post. "I hOpE wE dOn'T gEt HuGhES"... "I hOpE wE dRoP tO sIx ToNiGhT, aNd NiNe On TuESdAy"... just to see the meltdown on LGW.com...
  20. ... or ya know, maybe the reason he said in the Lightning press conference... He's stepping down, and moving back to Detroit to be closer to family... Yzerman is not going to leave a powerhouse team that he built in sunny Florida, to go to a bottom feeder and remain away from his family. It's not going to happen. Yzerman is moving back to Detroit. Whether or not he becomes the next Red Wings General Manager, or President of Hockey Operations, or some other role, is to be determined. But he is NOT going to take a job with another NHL team...
  21. Yeah, it'd be pretty cool to see the kid given a game... Looks like Howard will get the start though. No we don't. No it's not. Go Wings! Get the dub to finish off the season.

    2019 Draft

Monty Hall (Let's Make a Deal), Howie Mandel (Deal or No Deal)... same thing I guess...
  23. I really wish this were really a thing. I want a reality where the bottom teams need to win games down the stretch to "earn" the top 3 picks... I'm over the whole tanking bulls***...

    2019 Draft

Door number 1 is a zonk. Would you like to keep door number 2, or switch to door number 3?...
