Which is fine. Veleno was drafted 30th overall and is projected to be a 2nd line center. Lafrenier will be drafted 1st overall (no one else will be close), and will be an ELITE (elite of the elite) top line winger.

This should come as no surprise to anyone. Blashill is a good coach with a s***ty team. The young players (Larkin, Mantha, Athanasiou, Bertuzzi, Hronek, etc.) that he has coached have all taken steps in the right direction. The old players (Kronwall, Ericsson, Daley, Vanek, etc.) will be fading out over the next couple years, and we'll start to see even more youth (Zadina, Svechnikov, Veleno, McIsaac, '19 first round pick, etc.) coming in. I look forward to see what he can do with a good team over the next couple years. It's amazing that some "idiots" still think that Blashill is the reason this team isn't good right now...

You're forgetting Gallant. And although he never played for the Red Wings, he coached for a long time, Jack Adams.

He will be next year. Although I'm pretty sure I said that last year too... Oh well, I do still think he will be a 30+ goal scorer for a few seasons. He's one of the most skilled players on the team. He just needs to be more consistent. We could actually have another season like 2008-09 where 4 guys hit the 30 goal plateau in a few years if everything goes right... Larkin (Zetterberg), Athanasiou (Datsyuk), Mantha (Franzen) and Zadina (Hossa) all have the potential to get there...

Hirose has been impressive early on, and his play style is definitely reminiscent of Nyquist. Not sure he'll be quite as good long-term, but the potential is there for sure. Nyquist was / is a really good 2nd line winger. I think if all goes well for Hirose, he'll be a very good 3rd line winger. Veleno with another goal and 2 assists last night. He now has 9 points (5 goals, 4 assists) in 5 playoff games. Drummondville beat Gatineau in 5, and have moved on to the 2nd round.

Witkowski has been a defenseman pretty much all season, so that's not really a spot opened up at forward. He will have to earn it for sure, which is never a bad thing.
