You know. SaYiNg ThIs DoEsN't GiVe Us ExTrA bAlLs In ThE lOtTeRy RiGhT?!?!

Yeah, not bad at all. I'm hoping both get eliminated after a round or two though to go on a run with the Griffins...
-
You advocated drafting him just to go against the crowd here on LGW. Not a bad idea really. Most of us don't know jack s*** about these prospects. You did the same thing last year with Kotkaniemi, and he's looked pretty good in his rookie season as well. I've heard (can't remember where) that there were two other teams (besides Vancouver) that were really high on Pettersson, and one was Detroit. If he were available at 9, he would have undoubtedly been our pick. Imagine having this kid instead of Rasmussen...

Scratch Hirose, obviously...
-
Pretty sure they do actually. They get two extra if you tweet it.

Who will score more goals to end the season, Larkin or AA?

I'd be okay with that, depending on which defenseman... I'd prefer it to be part of a bigger package to acquire a legit top pair defenseman. Trouba? Speaking of legit top pairing defensemen... I'd be okay with trading Athanasiou, plus if it got us him... In what world is he anything like Bogosian? -
I understand all of that, but you're forgetting one crucial factor... We're going to win the draft lottery (top 3 pick)...
-
If we dropped to 6 or 7 (we won't), I'd be thrilled to get Cozens.
-
Meh. If we're using one of our 2nd rounders on an overager, I'm hoping it's Brett Leason. Justin Bergeron would be another interesting option as an overager to take with a mid-round pick.
-
I agree. I think one of Larsson, Eliasson or Petruzzelli will develop into our number one goalie of the future. I suppose it would still be okay using a later round pick on a goaltender, but it wouldn't be a priority for me.

Yeah, saying that Zadina will be as good as Kucherov is obviously a little tongue in cheek, but I do think he could be a 35+ goal, 70+ point player in his prime. So in other words... Bust.

Great news for Ken Holland and the Detroit Red Wings as a whole... -
You're wrong. Zadina is Kucherov 2.0...
-
Zadina forces the defenseman. The defenseman makes a bad shot that ends up on Megan's stick. Zadina realizes his team has full control, makes a good read and takes off. Megan hits him with a pass and Zadina has a clear cut breakaway. Makes no mistake and buries it five hole. Bust.

I'm actually kind of surprised. There's no way he cracks that top 4 anytime soon, and if he played another season of college, he could have had his pick from the 25+ teams that would be lined up to sign him. So yeah, it might actually be his loss... -
I hear ya, but if we're dropping back from 4th to 10th, I'd want more than the 25th for our 35th... just sayin'.
-
No, I definitely don't see Holland moving up, but at this stage of the rebuild, I think he should. We have pretty good depth right now, we just need a couple game breakers. I hope he swings for the fence on some of these picks. No more safe picks. High risk, high reward.

I'm all about packaging a couple of our (three) 2nd rounders, to move up into the 1st round. Especially if some of the big names start dropping. Quality > Quantity We need another huge draft this year. We could potentially have a top 3 pick, a pick in the 32-35 range, and then package the Islander and Sharks 2nd rounders to get another pick in the 20-30 range. The Rangers have three 1st rounders this year. They could be open to trading one (Winnipeg or Tampa) to pick up another couple picks. The Ducks, Kings, Aves and Sabres also have a couple 1st rounders each.

I agree. However, I think the former may have a better chance in reaching that sort of potential than the latter. But yeah, ya never really know how any of these kids will develop. It certainly wouldn't be the first time the 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th ranked player became the best player of his draft class.

I just want to get back to the point where if we get scored on, I curse and swear at my TV, if we lose a game, it ruins my entire night, and if we miss the playoffs, I'm depressed for about 3 weeks... Is that too much to ask?

3 wins in 4 games doesn't help our lottery odds, but it could be just what we need to land that number one overall pick. You just don't know how the balls will fall... Imagine the last day of the season (April 6th), we're tied for 30th place with the Kings. We're playing Buffalo and L.A. are playing Vegas later that night. Every Wings fan wants so badly to lose that game, to better our lottery odds. We lose. We all stay up late to watch the L.A. game hoping they get at least one point. They lose in OT and get that point. We finish 30th overall. Three days later, we're all super amped about the draft lottery, because we have the 2nd best odds (13.5%), and the lowest we can fall is 5th. We end up dropping to 5th and L.A. win the lottery and the number one overall pick... I don't know about you, but I'd feel pretty damn foolish rooting for that loss on the last game of the season. Not that fans cheering for or against their team has any real bearing on the outcome of the game, but still... That's why I will always root for wins, but am not as upset when we lose. I don't know, that's been my mentality the last two seasons anyway...

Bad defense. Flew the zone too early. Bust.

No, that's next season. This is the race to the bottom of standings... aka full tank mode...
