To be honest, I searched high and low for something stating this rule yesterday, and I couldn't find it anywhere... It was always my understanding though, that once a player was sent down to the CHL, he could not be recalled again (unless an emergency recall situation) until their team's season was finished (including playoffs). Again, I can't find anything definitive, so I could be wrong, but that was always my understanding of the rule. If anyone else knows for sure, please let us know. I'm curious more than anything. I still think Veleno would be better off finishing this season, dominating the Q, and go on a meaningful playoff run with Drummondville, rather than playing bottom six center (or wing) with the likes of Glendening, de la Rose, Ehn, etc. on a team that likely won't make the playoffs. If Drummondville get upset early in the playoffs and Grand Rapids go on a bit of a run, give him a look in the A for a few games. If not, make sure he has a good summer of training, and be ready to make the jump to Detroit (or Grand Rapids) next season.

I'm very high on Hronek (potential top 3 defenseman), not so much on Sulak (maybe bottom pair defenseman). Also very high on McIsaac (potential top 4 defenseman), not so much on Regula (seems very similar to Sambrook, maybe bottom pair defenseman). Also, McIsaac and Regula will spend another season in the CHL after this season before they're eligible to turn pro, unless they make the Wings out of camp (which they won't).

I'm confused as to what confuses you by this statement...

I've never actually seen Barton play live, but based on highlights and scouting reports, I'm a big fan, have been since we drafted him. I think he's going to be a 3rd round steal for us. He plays a similar game to Brent Seabrook; smart, smooth skating, physical, two-way defenseman, can play both special teams.

No! F*** the rules! F*** logic! I want him up NOW!!!

Hey man, just trying to stir the pot. Get those rumors swirling... Also, completely unrelated, Nyquist is on the top line to boost his point totals / trade value... -

Bernier starting again? 3rd start in 4 games... Is Howard getting traded? -
He can't be brought up mid season. We've been over this... He will continue to torch the Q this season, and turn pro next season.

Veleno with another huge game tonight. 2 goals, 3 assists, 10 shots on goal in a 6-3, come from behind win. He's closing in on that 2 points per game pace, with 51 points (22 goals, 29 assists) in 27 games, 1.89 PTS/G. He's now 4 points behind the league lead, with 3 less games played. Kid is an absolute beast. Looking forward to see him turn pro next season (hopefully with the Red Wings).

Buyers or Sellers? Sellers. No question. I am a little nervous though that if we do climb into a playoff spot in the next two months, or even within striking distance, that Holland would turn from seller to buyer. I cannot bring myself to cheer on losses, but I know too much winning could potentially set this team back. We need to sell off any and all UFA's that team's might have interest in, no matter where we sit leading up to the deadline. Hopefully both Nyquist and Howard are dealt and maybe even Daley if any teams are interested.

I like Frk more because of the offense and the fact that he's a right-handed shot. I don't see de la Rose or Ehn as anything more than an Andersson or Emmerton type player. But like I said, all three are very replaceable, so whoever we keep out of the three, would hopefully be our 13th/14th forward. And if that's the case, I'd be okay with letting all three go, and giving the spot to Witkowski or literally any veteran forward. Or maybe that spot goes to a Pope or Smith or some other current borderline prospect. Point being, I never put too much thought into which of the plugs we're replacing, just that we will hopefully be replacing some of them with some young, high end skill guys.

Ericsson and Glendening. #grit -
Why do you question de la Rose and not Ehn? I personally like Frk more than either but also understand that none of de la Rose, Ehn or Frk should be in the long-term plans of the Wings...

I watched a good few Griffins games last season, only a handful so far this season, but from what I have seen, I've been very impressed (with his offensive game). His defensive game leaves much to be desired, but I'm hopeful that he'll figure it out. I think Green is a very apt comparison. He obviously won't ever be the offensive juggernaut that Green was in his prime Washington years(point per game defenseman), but he could be similar to what Green has been in Detroit the past few years (half a point per game defenseman). I'll take a younger version of what Green is now in our top 4 for the next 10+ years any day, and like I said, I still think he could develop more defensively.
-
I agree that Hronek would have been the likely call-up if Green were injured, but why aren't you that high on him? Where do you think he projects at the NHL level? I've been hot and cold on Hronek over the past couple years, but this past year, I've become very high on him. I think he's as close to a lock to become a top 4 NHL defenseman, and I think he has top 2-3 potential. He still needs to work on his defensive game, but that will come. He has elite offensive ability, currently sits 5th in points per game for defensemen in the AHL, and the 4 ahead of him are all older.

I seen someone half jokingly suggest that we will recall Lashoff, and I thought to myself, There's no f***ing way... It may not be Hronek, but it will be Hicketts or Sulak before Lashoff... Lashoff will never play another game for the Red Wings... ... and here we are... -
What a dumb article... "To me, it just seems logical that Mantha is, and should be, the odd man out down the road." In no world should Mantha be the "odd man out" on this team. We're not in a situation where we need to trade a part of our young core. So you don't do it, unless a deal comes along that you just can't refuse. I'm not completely opposed to trading Mantha, but if we are it would have to be for a young stud defenseman. Certainly none of the mediocre defensemen he mentions...
-
Yeah, as much as I really, really want to see Hronek up with the Wings, I do agree with you. I'm never a fan of rushing young players, and if management believe he needs some more seasoning in the American League, I'm okay with that. It's crazy to think though that after this season we could potentially see Hughes (it's going to happen), Veleno, Zadina, Svechnikov and Hronek in the lineup replacing Nyquist, Vanek, de la Rose, Ehn and Kronwall... Nyquist would be a big loss, but overall a net gain, and we'd also be getting much younger, faster and skilled...
-
It would be tough, but yeah, I think I'd pull the trigger, or at least strongly consider it... I'd hate to lose either Mantha or Athanasiou, but man, Cholowski - Parayko would be a nice pairing for the next 10 years... I will say though, I'd still much prefer to go after a lesser established defenseman that wouldn't cost us a huge part of our young core. I also understand this is probably much more difficult / unlikely to happen, so yeah... As much as I'd love to see a huge splash, at this point in time, I'd just assume continue to draft (gain draft picks) and develop, and kick tires...

Hronek with a goal and an assist, 2 shots on goal and a +2 tonight.
-
F*** off!... Hronek had 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and 13 shots on goal through 6 games with the Wings to start the season, and since then went down to GR and dominated offensively with 14 points (4 goals, 10 assists), 44 shots on goal through 16 games... What exactly does he have to do to be considered playing "great"? Hicketts will get the call for sure... FFS...

Eddy Pasquale is getting his first NHL start tonight for Tampa. So he's definitely going to get a shutout... also, shutout, shutout, SHUTOUT...
