I would say Podkolzin is more untouchable than Liljegren at this point. I'd want more than a 1st for Johnson. I don't think Tampa would part with Alnefelt, but he'd be my target as well. A 1st plus Krebs to take on one year of Nosek at $1.25M? That makes so sense. They could just waive him and not give up any assets... Montreal just signed Frolik a few days ago... Why would they offer a team a 1st round pick or top prospect to take on his one year, $750K contract? No team is offering premium assets to shed sub $2M contracts...

I don't think high penalty minutes for a top prospect is ever a good sign. It was a concern for Bertuzzi early on, but he got it under control. Hopefully Ras can do the same. It also depends on the type of penalties. If they're fighting majors and roughing penalties, it's fine I guess. If it's a lot of stick infractions, that's never good...

I'm not going to pretend to have seen a single game, or even know much about the Austrian league, but those numbers are pretty disappointing, no? I would have expected higher point totals and fewer PIM's...

The Canucks only need to shed approximately $1M in cap space. I don't think they'll look to trade two contracts, unless they're going after a Hoffman in free agency, or have a big trade in the works (doubtful at this point). I'm not that high on Woo personally. I'd rather stick to picks in return, or Podkolzin or Hoglander...

Brandon Sutter doesn't get you close to that. I don't even see him as much of a salary dump to be honest. 31 year old 3rd line center, capable of 30-40 points. Sure he may be a little overpaid, but it's only for one more season. That doesn't get you a 1st round pick, plus a prospect. Take on two years, $6M of Loui Eriksson and you might get close to that... maybe.

This doesn't make much sense to me. Assuming Kucherov isn't out for the entire season, they should still be looking to make a move or two now. Otherwise, they wait until he's ready to come off LTIR, and they're in an even worse situation... I think it would be a lot harder to shed $10M in cap space mid season, then it would be now, before the season starts and there are still a bunch of players left unsigned...

Players on loan with an SHL team (Seider / Veleno) cannot break their contract. Players already signed with an SHL team (Brome / Berggren / Raymond / Johansson), apparently can break their contract. Seems ass backwards to me... Regardless, Seider can't play with the Red Wings until his season (and playoffs) with Rogle is over.

Unlike you, I "like" the Red Wings, therefore I "like" Red Wings players. Like you though, once a Red Wings player becomes a former Red Wings player, I don't care about them once they're playing for another team. Like you, I'd trade any player / prospect in the organization if it made the team better. Unlike you though, I'd care a lot if I heard that Dylan Larkin, or Moritz Seider, or Joe Veleno, or Gustav Berglund died tomorrow... Nope. That I don't. However, when I do hear about the man down the street that died at a young age, although I don't "weep", I do feel bad about the situation, and that he left behind his young family.

Which is exactly what this team should be aiming for. By the way, 28th would be a HUGE improvement on last season, considering we finished dead last, and the next worse team was over 20 points ahead of us...
